Maria Callas - Lucia's Opening Aria - Great Sound

- From her first studio Lucia, in enhanced sound. The instruments have dimension and there is space around the vocal. I didn't create this, but i do have the whole opera in this sound. If it's well received, i'll upload the lot :)

In addition to a remarkable upper vocal extension one forgets what a wonderful trill she had in those earlier days as well. She truly deserves the title of "La Divina"!
Callas was in outstanding voice here. Only 29 and she already had a huge repertoire in back of her. The sound here is as clear as glass and it's thrilling to hear how a Dramatic Soprano like Callas could navigate those cadenzas as though they were nothing. Spectacular performance and thanks so much for sharing this. It's a gem!
....Thank you very much indeed. I was told by a professional singer, that her original voice was „Coloratur Alto“. All what counts is what she managed to do with that gift!
Absolutely WONDERFUL SOUND...I haven't the words to express how incredible was...the gentle nuances ...just sheer perfection...it brought me to tears...John..I can imagine how the sound was on the old records...I have a lot of them....so the clarity is what you must have done..her pianissimos were so beautiful...unearthly !! I have Callas' Lucia and many others of her operas. All the best to you.

It is (very) well received
Usually I am not very fan of electronic "enhancements" but in this case it works. The original is so dry and unpleasant, I rarely listen to this first studio recording.

I do love her voices...manly her expression..If y think, such high notes in the time..no lots of special hifi ways in that time.. of course some older records etc. are cillllly.. smile..but here that part's be Florens Foster J...hiiiii florence foster jenkins ..y will see the differents..
