Most Hated INVASIVE Fish...Catch Clean Cook (Bullseye Snakehead)

- Bullseye Snakeheads are an invasive fish species that were introduced illegally into South Florida in the early 90's. Since then they have flourished and spread into 3 new counties! These fish originate in SE Asia where are a delicacy. Although they look freaky and live in canals, these fish make excellent table fare!

Same thing people say about carp. “Its a fun game fish” when with how I look at it, that fish is taking away a spot for a native fish to grow and that would also be a fun game fish, and even if it wouldnt be a fun game fish the reality is that getting rid of an invasive species is objectively a good thing.
Bend your hooks out, spro makes their frog with the hook points pushed into the body. Need to bend them out so the frog is able to sway inside of the hooks. Your hook up ratio will drastically change. Also try dropping your rod and letting them take it more. I know it’s exciting and the anticipation kills you but you just gotta make yourself calm down and drop your rod and let them take it. Good luck 🤘🤘
I’ll make a note not to bother with Spro frogs and buy something else. Thanks for the info
You’re definitely in the early to mid 30’s. Nobody types out a whole book for tips on fishing like that 😂
@@nathanparker6869 You must be Gen Z because that is not considered a whole book
@@sO1o Ahahahahaha! That was a good one, your reply.
Hi, there Victor, i wach you from Lithuania. You-florida guys, are blessed with fish. We do have canals and rivers here, but to catch a. 6-10 lbs fish is a real chalange. Usualy we cach a bass 2 lbs- is a giant. And i Baltic sea yes you can catch from cod to big salmon. But thats it. Your variaties of fish in ocean an canals is your joy!!! As you say " have a good one"😊
I do have a crawfish recepy for you as a snack. Take 10 lbs of crawfish, and boil it in dill and watet, salt. Thats it. Just dont be greedy with dill. Perfect for second day off party to sit and enjoy...
Snakeheads are not a threat but throwing back cichlids and tilapia is a huge problem
What a dummy
In Malaysian, went snakehead catch the lure we give time for fish to take and swallow lure around 2second and hit it... 😅
Instead of throwing away the pinbone section cut out (when you have a large catch of fish), you could simmer it to make soup stock, and then strain the rest and then feed the canal fish with it. It looks like a good amount of meat that is thrown away; though I realize because of the bones it can't be used for a filet or anything. Also, I've noticed when pressure cooking a chicken carcass, that the bones change consistency and crumble like a half cooked dried bean... maybe pressure cooking the pinbone section would make the pinbones completely disintegrate, and then the whole pinbone section could be used.
Well said
im from south east asia, Indonesia. this species is decreasing now due to over harvesting and aquarium predator fish keeping. Its hard here to catch this fish in the wild especially in java. this fish only easy to catch in Borneo now, wich is in the remote places. Actually, this fish is taste good to if you know how to cook it
Sama, di daerah kami juga udah mengurang

Pro tip with the rice. Blend the garlic and onion with a little water then fill the rest of the blended mix with water to your 2 cups mark and add after toasting.
Your setting your hook to early brother you have to let them hit the lure and wait a second for them to take it. Alot of the times the will just grab the end of your lure. So just wait a second going forward then you set the hook.
Thanks for sharing all the missed videos
Good day, I want to go fishing with you for Snakehead fishing. I'm retired Navy and I want to catch some Snakeheads. I'm in Palm Bay, I will drive down. Take me out fishing for Snakehead!
Lmao
We have the Northern Snakehead up here in Maryland. Big following of anglers who enjoy catching them. Caught a decent 6lber last year on a fluke bait while bass fishing.
Snakehead has been rebranded to Chesapeake channa
Great job Vic and Denis! Can’t wait to catch one soon!
I am far from a frog “expert” but my experience is that when I failing to hook up it has more to do with me needing to delay the hook set so they can take it fully into their mouths than it does with short strikes.
I agree
When I first heard about the snake head and started pursuing them with one of my buddies, we had a debate that it’s not that effective on destroying the bass population and I agreed, but now after a few years and going back to the East Coast and fishing them more and more I really noticed the impact now they are definitely eating and destroying majority of the breeding habitat for largemouth bass and spawning largemouth bass
I want to see you do a catch and cook on the REAL most hated invasive species... the asian carp.
Nice Video Brother. I’m currently catching Northern Snakeheads in South Korea. Keep up the awesome videos!
I’m here for the quality footage and and stud cameraman 👀
what im saying baby
You should've gotten in on that action, Ryan. Get more of the ladies showing up 👄
Need more Big D fishing action, get him out from behind the camera and setting some hooks haha
Grew up right next to the potomac! snakeheads up here were introduced into a pond in the local shopping center, crawled across the highway into a local pond and ate the ducks out of the bigger pond. Northern snakeheads are hardcore. never thought about eating them.
Damn
Love your videos been watching awhile
Nice catch and cook, Victor! Nice Avail hat, too! Just watched Clay with his bay boat in the Bahamas on "Life by the Bow."
Great vid Vic!
Love the vids 🙌❤️
Thank you for watching!
Saludos! Watching from Houston area, we got some monster gars in the Trinity river .
Awesome videos keep it up! 🔥
Hey Vic, just a tip to help the hookup ratio. Bend the hook out slightly. It’s what I do when I fish the hollow frog. Hope it helps.
Vick your good people love your channel thanks for sharing great video
such a cool fish. Sick video!!
Do you ever use cut bait fishing..? They would make good cut bait
Cool fish, I need to get over that way and catch a few, Thanks,
Love your videos do you have land based tuna fishing lures suggestions
"invasive fish in Florida"
"Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?"
Take a pair of pliers and bend the tips of the hooks upwards just a little bit. Helps guide the hooks into the flesh better.
cool use of the 360 camera going thru the bridge Denes!
This is a AWESOME video bro!!! Keep up the hard work! (I hope to go fishing with you someday) lol
I've seen a lot of people cook them in Asia and definitely want to get a bunch with my bow
I was watching on the tv. Picked up the phone to give the like.
Ain’t fishing fun!!
I’m sure it’s out but snakehead tournaments would be nice!!!
Next time you cook snakehead, try white cheddar Cheetos as a breading and cook in the oven. Add seasoning for your taste. Enjoy!
landshark post more please
Nice catch
Sunrise, FL grew up there tons of great fishing 🔥🔥
Walleye has always been my favorite ‘eating’ fish. Firmest, whitest and mildest meat. Going to try these.
I was sold a fish called a Seacow at a aquarium..2 years later i learned i was sold a snake head lol
i have the gene that makes cilantro taste like soap to me. Great vid. Love you and Brooke.
Have you tried eating soap to see if it tastes like cilantro?
This weekend I’m going fishing 4 hours up into Wisconsin and I’ll be fishing on a boat for the first time in my 11 years of life
What part of Wisconsin if you know?
I’m from Wisconsin. I hope u enjoy your venture here 👍
Have a blast.
@@bevj3889 I live in Wisconsin so thanks btw
@@chrispauley8968 thanks lmao my stepdad is bringing me there with my brother and we’re going kayaking to a island there
Love this vid! 100% agree, snakes are not hated, in fact they are great for sportsfishing.
I always struggle with Frogs. Even when bending the hooks out and trimming the legs. I’d throw a Spook or Whopper Plopper when water is open.
What are those snakehead thinking when they bite down on that lure? "DANG, this bionic frog is taking me for a ride...!"
When fishing from a punt for a fish that charge towards you, don't fish to the front of the punt fish to the stern, that way they take it gives you that fraction of a second longer to set the hook
For sofr body frogs, we trip the tails. After a strike its count to 3 before setting.
Try whopper ploppers, wtd lures and ur vib or minnos
That weedless frog lure, I use them to catch pike here in the UK, they attract a lot, but I find it hard to set the hook. Cheers for the video
Not the best for hook sets but good for longevity!
I found the same, other styles of frogs with a single hook are much better at hooking up.
They pound surface lures, fight hard, taste great, are simultaneously aggressive and challenging to catch. As far as invasives go....I think they are a plus. It's not like our "environment" isn't already screwed... so might as well enjoy what we got and roll with it!
💯💯💯
I would love to come fish this species with you. I'm from Deltona and love off beat fishing
Vic, your cooking looks fabulous. Nice combination of flavors. Are you concerned that the snakeheads, being canal fish, have parasites? ❤
I lived in South Florida for 30 years. Mainly the Fort Lauderdale area West. I know every Canal system there is. And I can tell you by far the best bait to use for snakeheads is rubber lizards. Varying sizes and colors it doesn't matter they hit instinctively with them little legs flapping from them lizards. I wouldn't even bother going out there with them frogs. And by the way anybody who does not know they are one of the most delicious freshwater fish you could ever catch. Including without a doubt including I would take it over any spec anytime. Delicious long beautiful fillets. No reason to even bleed them but if you want to go ahead. But when you eat them you will be so surprised that you've been throwing them away all the time you've been fishing. And I agree with his statement that some people think they are ugly they are very beautiful fish. Give it a try I promise you will not be disappointed.
I still love this channel keep fishing 🎣🙏🙏🙏🎣🎣🎣
Victor.. was great to meet you today 6-29.. at the location in new Smyrna
You too brother
NOTI GANGGGG
That’s a delicious fish right there 😋🤤
What boat are you using? I’m looking for something similar to that.
Hope you enjoy catching them more than any of the other fish they're replacing. *that* is the point of clearing them out of the water. It's much easier to keep them under control than it is to damage control after they Go Big and replace everything else. If you feel bad about "wasting" the extras, head to your local zoo, animal rescue, animal rehabilitator or gator park, they'll put every one you give them to good use.
what rod and reel is that? looks like I found my new bowfin combo.
Rainy days equal greater days for snakeheads
What size GoPro necklace u wear looking to get one
We actually have snake head up here in Virginia. Chesapeake bay watershed. Rappahannock and Potomac rivers etc,
Those are a different species. The ones we have here are only found in about 70 miles of territory and can barely survive the 60 degrees Florida winter
Like the avail hat
Here in Louisiana we have bowfin and some snakeheads never tried to eat them yet
Do you ever use capers with your fresh fish cooks?
Do a freshwater drum (gaspergoo) video
That AVAIL hat 🔥
what are the spikes sticking up on the front of the boat visible at 21:06?
What is swimming in front of the trolling motor starting @7:18?
Wow, what a meal!
Anyone know what rod and reel he’s using?
How old is that Boga grip? I have one that’s about 20 years old and the clamping part does not look like that
After that I'm in the mood for a nice fish sandwich.
I would also like to say that Snakeheads have been caught in Jupiter Fl.
If you want a great flavor (if you can stand the heat) the aji fatalii pepper (some claim the yellow Devil's Tongue is different) are the hottest CITRUSY habanero... unequalled flavor... hot. You pretty much have to grow them yourself. Even the dried pepper powder from them has a unique flavor. I think you have to grow them yourself (which I have done for decades); I don't think you can find them in a market.
I live in Philadelphia Pa and have caught snakeheads my pb is six pounds
Add a dang tail hook! No one will ever catch all of them. But you can up your game with a tail stinger on that frog.
In Malaysia this fish is called ikan kerandang one of the expensive fish that could go up to 200 bucks
This is a snakehead fish that often eats small fish, its meat is very fragrant
Bro by the way a trick to catch bullseye snake heads is to use a red hook and a plastic frog you shouldn't miss a fish.love the video.
Vic you need to come up to the chesapeake bay and get in on the cobia bite. Absolute giants roaming this year along with the huge schools of big bull reds
Nevermind just saw your insta post didn't realize you were out fishing while I was there glad you could get in on the bite
I have great reflexes and it is hard to wait 2 seconds to set the hook.
When you doing another shark vid ?
I would say making sure you touch up the sharpening job on the hooks, with the snake heads having such a hard mouth structure a razor sharp hook makes a difference... Also i would try adding a second set of hooks and have the double hook set up on each side like on a big bass or pike bait.... ( If that is aloud where your fishing that is ) I cant remember if they make any frogs with that double hook set up.... Or i was wondering if you have tried one of those white mice lures, i would imagine they would smash it just like they do everything else that goes by them..... Keep them lines tight Brother and thank you for all the stellar fishing content you are an amazing angler !!!!
i dont like your vids i love them thanks vic
They and their meat seem very similar to the bowfin, convergent evolution i suppose
The fish just before the one you finally kept, was under I guess it was a large "sea grape" tree. I wonder if the fish eat the fruit?
U and blue Gabe collab would be sick
There’s a huge demand for snakehead meat along the gulf coast by Vietnamese Americans. You could do Florida a good service and satisfy demands by harvesting and selling snakehead meat in Houston.
To sale fish in Florida you need a commercial license. Other wise it's illegal you could get fined and they can take everything you have on you during the time of the sale. Including the person vehicle
@@artificialslinger9730 Vic used to be a commercial fisherman
cool neighbourhood
Hello, you had another catch and cook snakehead?; and in that video you used a spoon to scrape the fish, and cook the snakeheads flesh that way? So, it is a very versatile fish to cook??
Do the Bullseye Snakeheads hit the older lures like the Jitterbug, Hula Poppers or the Buzz Plugs??
Way off topic and hope you respond, do you do full body split work outs ? Push pull or what . I’m trying to get jacked and get back in shape . Got me motivated
Push pull legs! Track your macros is the most important thing. 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight is what has worked for me
