  • Often referred to as "The Black National Anthem," Lift Every Voice and Sing was a hymn written as a poem by NAACP leader James Weldon Johnson in 1900. His brother, John Rosamond Johnson (1873-1954), composed the music for the lyrics.

    Lift every voice and Sing was written in 1900 by 2 Brothers James and J. Rosemond Johnson both born in the late 1800’s. It was written to inspire.

    The song doesn't fit the sports world. We know this song since young age. Now its actually sounds tiredsome and boring before an hype event. It clearly doesn't belong in sports.
