Keyword simplicity, it was underwhelming and pretty meh, there are a lot of singers out there that can actually carry out the notes and passion needed for the national anthem and she's just not fit for this. Disappointing performance.

When do you plan on singing the National Anthem in a large Arena? It's always been a difficult song to sing and definitely with feeling like Reba did. The other time that I remember an outstanding performance was when Whitney Houston sang it at the Superbowl. Both singers did a FANTASTIC JOB OF SINGING IT!❤

Faith Hill, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Demi Lovato, all were on a completely different level than this mid performance.

I met Reba waaaaay back in 1980-81 BEFORE she was this huge superstar. It was in the Hudson's Bay High School gym and she was just walking past the rows of bleachers. She was soooo sweet and kind especially since I was maybe 12 or 13 at the time. She was so sparkly & genuinely beautiful. Her voice was so rich & full of all these 'extra notes' that made it sound so complex and better than any singing I'd ever heard before. Why she was in a gym in Vancouver, Washington, is still a mystery to me when even I could tell she was meant for bigger & better things. So pleased to see her success - her talent and drive has her exactly where she belongs!!! Great job!!!!!!!

@@penknight8532 There are hundreds of cameras at an NFL game that will capture almost everything any player does. The producer saw him crying and decided to switch to that camera for dramatic effect.
No matter how many times she sings this, every arrangement sounds spectacular , and unique. Reba’s definitely not a one trick pony. She’s A true musician, and nobody has ever had a bad word to say about her. How many can say that?

@sunnystormy4973 it is still her singing! They have every singer that will sing the national anthem prerecord their song just in case they are sick etc and can't sing it live. She isn't lip syncing if she is singing to her own voice.

I was taught to respectfully stand for the National Anthem . Placing hand on heart was only for the pledge of allegiance. Its ok either way. My fifth grade teacher taught us that and we did it every morning. ❤

Christ Stapleton and Whitney Huston these two performances will never be out done by anyone. Whitney's performance was iconic and nobody could match her then, Chris came in and rejuvenated with the electric guitar and his vocal range and now I cannot accept anyone else but those two voices singing our national Anthem.
