    The difference beetween these two bands was that Blur wanted to make good music (with mixed results) but happened to make it big with Parklife. The Great escape was not a collection of would-be-hits, Blur was a slab of grungy hard rock and and 13 was a shoegazing post-rock.
    Oasis on the other hand only wanted to be the biggest band in the world. They wanted to be rock stars, play on big stadiums and wreck hotel rooms.
    This is very evident on their solo works. Albarn creates the Gorillaz and Coxon released albums of experimental guitar music.
    The Gallagher brothers are still making Oasis music

The Queen is another legendary band who didn't need cheap tricks to show their talent. That's the way it goes with musicians, in reality they get along when they know they are talented because they just enjoy playing music and discover new ways to get inspired.

    Purely from a sound point of view and what kind of sound appeals to me, I prefer Oasis. But as much as I like them, they were pretty much a one trick pony. Most of, if not all of their popular songs had a similar feel and musical style, (jarring guitars, drums, 4/4 time, Liam's drawling vocals) apart from Stop Crying Your Heart Out, which still stands out to me as a work of absolute art. I can't even tell whether I'm listening to 'Cigarettes And Alcohol' or 'Some Might Say' cos they both have the exact same bloody intro. Oasis' sound never really changed and, in their later albums, they tried to use the same tricks they used in their earlier albums, and it just didn't come off. They needed to experiment and take more risks.
    Blur had the guts to experiment with their sound and covered a range of genres quite competently, it has to be said. Although I prefer Oasis' sound, Blur pulled out some banger tunes (The Universal, Tender, Girls And Boys, Coffee and TV in particular) and their hits didn't all revolve around the same style. For that reason, I reckon Blur was more talented. For me personally, I prefer Oasis, but Blur was, musically, the better band.

      @brd-bp5ng Před 4 lety +1

      nah blur weren’t musically better at all they have 3 good songs; girls and boys, parklife and song 2 and theyre all lyrically theyre all dogga they just sound good where as with oasis almost every song is good

    • @maximillianford9301
      @maximillianford9301 Před 4 lety +16

      @@brd-bp5ng you missed my point. I already said that I like Oasis' songs more, but that Blur were more musically creative and covered more genres. Oasis have one generic sound. All their hits revolve around that one sound. Champagne Supernova, Supersonic, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Stand By Me, All Around The World, Slide Away, it's all the same. Guitar driven rock anthems with Liam's distinctive vocals. And yes, it is a great sound, I'm not denying that. But the fact that they didn't musically evolve and tried to stick to that one sound just shows up their limitations as a band. Blur had more bad songs, sure, but Blur managed to produce several good songs while experimenting with different genres, and that is far more admirable. A band that produces five good songs which sound hugely different from each other is better than a band that produces a hundred good songs which all sound similar.

    I don't get why people can't just appreciate the music. I am a massive Oasis and Blur fan but they both have their flaws. Oasis have a very similar formula for all their songs and there are some that stand out sometimes do to different instrumentation and melody, but essentially it's Noel Gallagher's cranked up es335 blarring out open chords and doing blues fills and licks, which isn't a bad sound I love it because of the energy and excitement it brings but you find it becomes a bit repetitive especially in some of their earlier tunes, stuff off of Definitely Maybe. I love that album, but it becomes a bit repetitive sometimes. Also, the bands live performances I think are some of if not the best concerts in rock n roll history and were way better than Blur, partly because of the energy and fun they bought. Blur had some outstanding musicianship and were experimental and had a really great rock tone when it came to Graham Coxon's telecaster. Speaking of Coxon, he's one of the most underrated and best guitarists in the world and the reason why he's so underrated is because he's so humble and doesn't like to bring up how good he is. As brilliant as Noel is Graham outshines him massively. He's also an outstanding musician and him and Damon Albarn made a great team when it came to producing some absolute classics. You listen to the album Parklife then listen to Blur (1997) and realise how different they sound. Like a song like Beetlebum compared to Girls and Boys, what a difference. And both are great tracks. They just were extremely educated in music and were not scared to go out of their comfort zone, which is why I love them so much and often find myself liking them more than Oasis, but it's really mixed for me. At a time I was just like all the rest of the Oasis fans in the comments, and no offense to you guys but you criticise any other band that isn't Oasis and just start arguments and wars in the comments. But I had a listen to Blur and opened up to them and I'm glad I did, Oasis and Blur were some amazing one of a kind bands, so have your opinions but don't spread hate and just appreciate the music.
