"and a guitar got damaged..."
"you hit him with a guitar"
"I hit him with a guitar"
priceless
The same guitar he borrowed by Johnny Marr. He sent him a new one with the note “next time you take the f*cker out”.
the fact that gene gallagher looks just like young damon makes me laugh
wucee maybe he’s the real father, who fuckin knows!
What with them eye brows ....
it makes me cackle
Time stamp please
tf u taking about
It’s cool that he and Damon are friends now after the whole media circus around the two bands
Sad how he won’t talk to his brother but he’ll make friends with the band they feuded with in the day. Very sad.
@@Henry-uv9xu Maybe any progress is good progress? If there’s hope for Noel and Damon maybe he and Liam can patch things up eventually; I agree it’s extremely sad they can’t put their differences aside, not just musically but as family
Cause damon created the Gorillaz franchise with 2 smash hit albums.
It was primarily Liam who acted like a common asshole to Damon, etc. I remember Damon attending some get together to congratulate Oasis on making it to #1. And as Damon walked up, Liam grabs the paper pointing to it and mouthing "number fucking 1". So yeah.
Noel smiling with genuine warmth at seeing Blur turn up on screen just makes me smile. Him and Damon ending up as friends is the perfect ending to that whole crazy time 😌
Love the way Noel smiled at the clip with him and Liam. He still loves his bro.
@jilted_ john believe me, not everyone.
I know somewhere down in Noels heart that he loves his brother.
Well someone needs to.. Cause he's a tw😁t..
Noel pretending to be Liam when they "sang" that playback is so awesome!
Country House is actually one of my favourite songs of all time lmao
haha me too
It is a fun tongue in cheek kinda song. "I`m a professional singer but my hearts not in it." Funny and clever. American bands don`t write lyrics like that. Well, except for blink-182. They had clever and sometimes even poetic lyrics. But they often got dismissed as a joke despite being one of the most melodic bands the world has ever seen.
@@upstream5316 cynic not singer, get the lyrics right if you're going to analyse them lol
Both bands are incredible. Britpops decline has been incredibly sad for the British music industry. You'll never get another time like that with dozens of incredible bands at the same time.
I really miss the 90's. Got deep at 1 point in my life and thought about how bad I was handling life compared to being a teen in the 90's but had to snap out of it before I done something tragic.
I wish everyone growing up could have had the fun I had back then.
They were very derivative
Liam Gallagher seen this, then proceeded to sing 'Roll With It' at Glastonbury.
Did he ?
@@olliemad well he played roll with it at glastonbury anyway
@@Ryan23H yeah he ordered a beer and you get a roll with it.
🍺🤣😅
Unforgettable moment! cd stores, fanzines, independent labels, friends, rock/indie shows...what an amazing time to be young! thank you God for letting me live all this
I remember hanging out with Noel on a boat in the Manchester canals. Great to see you smile again; nice one!!
Noel has grown up, it’s like he almost doesn’t recognize the guy he used to be, unlike Liam who still has the same attitude
Liam has grown up as well
Can't agree. Naturally he has matured but his essence is still there, but now he's settled down.
The ‘battle’ was concocted by their management and the music media to raise profile of both bands and increase record sales. Sorry to piss on anyone’s bonfire, but Noel and Damon actually Understood this, it was just Liam that thought there was a genuine beef going on, because he’s just a confrontational chav.
Sorry to piss on your bonfire mate but we know this.
@@karlnelson7550 who's 'we'? You'd be surprised how many comments I read from grown women on here who were 16 at the time who still don't get it and think that Noel and Damon actually hate each other
I had the pleasure of meeting both Liam and Noel on different occasions over the years. Liam despite the image is a down to earth geezer who gives his time to have a chat. Noel on the other hand while a nice bloke isn't quite as open. Both top lads though.
i read this in a British accent
Best and most underrated British band that rose to fame in the 90s was Supergrass. ‘In it for the money’........best British album of the 90s.
Found myself smiling like a maniac throughout the entire video. Noel clearly still loves Liam.
Of course he does. He just doesn't want to play second fiddle to him on stage anymore
Btw. did you know it's possible really to like more than just a one band simultaneously.
I've actually managed to become a fan of more than 20-30 of bands and artists and it most probably won't end there.
Of course that whole britpop scene holds a special place in my heart both culturally and musically and still affects me a lot. Both Blur and Oasis, I always go back to their music - it's timeless.
Agree with everything except his thoughts on Country House which has a great song and one of Blur's best ones
It's an interesting concept and has an undeniable singalong chorus.
If also Damon had been there to comment, it would have been epic
The difference beetween these two bands was that Blur wanted to make good music (with mixed results) but happened to make it big with Parklife. The Great escape was not a collection of would-be-hits, Blur was a slab of grungy hard rock and and 13 was a shoegazing post-rock.
Oasis on the other hand only wanted to be the biggest band in the world. They wanted to be rock stars, play on big stadiums and wreck hotel rooms.
This is very evident on their solo works. Albarn creates the Gorillaz and Coxon released albums of experimental guitar music.
The Gallagher brothers are still making Oasis music
Gunnar Karl Gunnarsson agreed, there shouldn’t be a comparison between blur and oasis since neither bands wanted that rivalry, they just wanted to make the music they wanted. I’ve always been way more into a blur myself but I still love oasis and always will. People need to grow up and remember all of it was over 20 years ago, both bands are gone and the members of both bands are still making new music.
Johnathon John Johnson I don’t think blur wanted that rivalry but oasis definitely did when Albarn went to the a party post oasis outselling them Noel Gallagher shouted fuck off at him and I hate to say it but 13 and Park life are better than the morning glory and definitely maybe and albarn went on to make some really good music with gorillaz (that new album is looking good) and the Gallagher’s haven’t made anything decent since morning glory
Noel's last solo album does not sound like oasis.
Oasis better live, Blur better albums and showed more growth as a band
The guitar that he mentions at the beginning that “got broken” was a 1960 sunburst Gibson Les Paul that Johnny Marr loaned to Noel when they were first starting out. That same Guitar was given to Johnny by Pete Fucking Townshend. Imagine the value of that guitar today if it wasn’t broken.
hamblyrock I heard that it was eventually repaired, and is now either still in Noel’s position or was returned to Johnny Marr. I’ve never seen any pictures of it since though so don’t know if that’s true.
Eye its in this vid i think czcams.com/video/vkW1QsSIqGQ/video.html
It survived being owned by the notorious guitar, amp, and stage destroying antics of Pete Townsend,
only to be owned by Johnny Fucking Marr and then Noel Gallagher,
who finally put the woodshed beating on a fan.
I’d say it’s worth a lot destroyed or not.
"Roll With It" its an amazing tune. Noel pls
Can’t believe Noel doesn’t like Roll With It, it’s a great tune lol. Compared to others they done not absolutely amazing but it’s a tune for sure
Noel doesn't like Roll with it, Damon doesn't like Country House, Thom Yorke doesn't like Creep....
Oasis and Blur loved the "Battle of Britpop". It truly was like Beatles vs. Stones reborn.
No it wasn't. It was contrived media bullshit.
Bullshit. The Stones and The Beatles actually respected each other, as talented musicians usually do.
@JTR Hockey Productions That's a musical preference. I'm stating the fact that in reality the members of The Beatles and of The Stones were talented musicians who respected each other and their "feud" was an imaginary story made by the media. The Queen is another legendary band who didn't need cheap tricks to show their talent. That's the way it goes with musicians, in reality they get along when they know they are talented because they just enjoy playing music and discover new ways to get inspired.
@@ringwe It was all banter. Between both pairs of bands. Although, Oasis took it more serious.
Time mellows us all out.
So cool to be part of that 90's generation. I was in my mid 20's Great music great times
Love the Gallagher's no-bullshit attitude. But at the same time, it's the attitude that's kept them at each other's throats.
Both are great
I was one of the few in America that was buying the Import cds they released, they were pretty expensive for cds (Actually the price of an album at the time) that had an average of 4 songs on them but I was a dedicated fan. Then they eventually released The Masterplan but I went ahead and got that one too. It's still a bummer that they never put Whatever on that album.
the only time noel isn't a nipple is when he's talking about oasis in the 90s what a fucking band x
Not a fan of Oasis then or now but gotta give 'em credit if they really were practicing 5 nights a week for 3 years, that's serious dedication.
while all this shit was happening, Radiohead was creating their masterpiece, Ok Computer
Couldn’t agree more!
Pulp was cracking "Different Class" too.
Nobody cares
@Ashton Harrison Then why are you watching a video about Britpop if nobody cares about it
Radiohead is shit compared to oasis blur or PULP
Oh, Noel, we all know that Roll With It is a fine enough song.
Purely from a sound point of view and what kind of sound appeals to me, I prefer Oasis. But as much as I like them, they were pretty much a one trick pony. Most of, if not all of their popular songs had a similar feel and musical style, (jarring guitars, drums, 4/4 time, Liam's drawling vocals) apart from Stop Crying Your Heart Out, which still stands out to me as a work of absolute art. I can't even tell whether I'm listening to 'Cigarettes And Alcohol' or 'Some Might Say' cos they both have the exact same bloody intro. Oasis' sound never really changed and, in their later albums, they tried to use the same tricks they used in their earlier albums, and it just didn't come off. They needed to experiment and take more risks.
Blur had the guts to experiment with their sound and covered a range of genres quite competently, it has to be said. Although I prefer Oasis' sound, Blur pulled out some banger tunes (The Universal, Tender, Girls And Boys, Coffee and TV in particular) and their hits didn't all revolve around the same style. For that reason, I reckon Blur was more talented. For me personally, I prefer Oasis, but Blur was, musically, the better band.
nah blur weren’t musically better at all they have 3 good songs; girls and boys, parklife and song 2 and theyre all lyrically theyre all dogga they just sound good where as with oasis almost every song is good
@@brd-bp5ng you missed my point. I already said that I like Oasis' songs more, but that Blur were more musically creative and covered more genres. Oasis have one generic sound. All their hits revolve around that one sound. Champagne Supernova, Supersonic, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Stand By Me, All Around The World, Slide Away, it's all the same. Guitar driven rock anthems with Liam's distinctive vocals. And yes, it is a great sound, I'm not denying that. But the fact that they didn't musically evolve and tried to stick to that one sound just shows up their limitations as a band. Blur had more bad songs, sure, but Blur managed to produce several good songs while experimenting with different genres, and that is far more admirable. A band that produces five good songs which sound hugely different from each other is better than a band that produces a hundred good songs which all sound similar.
@@maximillianford9301 nah not really I would rather have one hundred similair sounding sings like oasis than five good ones which in of the lyrics is girls who like boys who girls who like boys

Blur are my favorite band, but I have immense respect for Noel. Great songwriter. He's always struck me as someone who is honest, even when he's being arrogant, unlike Liam who's just blunt because he wants to act like a tough guy.

I think you're the same as me
, we see things they'll never see.
I know I’m not the only one but I was there when these lot came out and it was a breath of fresh air to me and I immediately formed a band with my itinerary of a few chords and a basic blues scale. We had an incredible time 😆
My favorite era of music and hearing those songs always take me back to my 20s 😎
I love Roll With It when I listened to it for the first time back then. I forgot about Blur until they came out with Song 2. Listening to it again after so long feels brand new again.
Great times and great music. I loved both bands.
I like blur but oasis just seemed different, they were more rocknroll while blur gave me the impression of psychedelic rock. I don’t know... both really good bands but seemed to different to compare. Like smashing pumpkins and blink 182
Come on Noel, get the band back together! We all need a long awaited Oasis reunion, just text your bro and get shit sorted man!😊✌🏻
I play ' roll with it ' . I like it . Its good tune
Did you notice that when performing Roll With It on TOTPs Noel was on vocals and Liam on guitar. Probably a dig at how all acts were forced to mime on that show.
that's exactly what happened. apparently they wanted to perform live but were not allowed so last minute noel & liam decided to just take the piss and swap places
You can absolutely tell noel was the big brother x
I got slightly emotional when he said he met Damon a long time ago, and they just sat and talked about "how great all that was."
I'm not nearly as old as Noel, but I'm old AF, I guess.
I won’t die till I see Oasis got back together!
Keep the same energy, Chief! I am speaking for myself and only my f*cking self. I don't need an Oasis reunion. Just keep delivering tunes as usual. The latest EP's fire in my opinion. Absolutely love it.
Glastonbury 29th June. Liam has just performed Roll With It just to piss Noel off! Genius
I think Noel just means they had other singles which were better (which is true)
789789 D why’s it genius? Noel doesn’t own the song
I think Liam has to pay royalties whenever he performs Noel's songs.
cheekyboy5000 Liam doesn't have to pay, the venue is always the one paying
@@stevenlindsay23 As soon as Noel says "none of us are playing Roll With It these days" Liam has to do it...
'Roll with it' is a great track!
Oasis are good but that isn't a great song, sounds like Status Quo
It's ok, far from their best
And 'Country House' is shit, their worst single.
Always felt Blur pushed the boundaries a bit more and changed their sound etc. Oasis albums always felt very similar. Ocean Colour Scene a little underrated
I always thought Blur was more creative while Oasis was more intense.
@@777SNYM Oasis was always going to be short lived, whereas at least Blur experiments and adapts and does their own thing
Noel has experimented more since he’s gone solo. Liam always wanted them to be just straight rock n roll, that’s one the reasons Noel isn’t interested in reforming, he can try different styles now.
Noel contributed to the Gorillaz song We Got the Power.
Friends with Albarn yet slagged off Ashcroft who was a very old friend who he even wrote a song about. The man has changed in a very big way.
I would like to try and it would be a great app to be fair to you get it more than
Beetlebum is criminally overlooked. Blur did have the chops Noel has but that will be a tune forever.
princeoftidds ever researching the tavistock institute ??
Roll with it is a fuckin banger
For fucks sake I just wish Noel and Liam would put their differences aside and get Oasis back even for a one off gig, maybe Glastonbury 2020?
There’s so many bands that lose members due to tragic circumstances and could only wish that they had a chance to see them again let alone play with them, I just think it makes their beef seem very petty, need to grow up.
I seen Oasis at Loch Lomand 1996. 80,000 fans. That was the highest, nothing will ever top that.
Liked Blur, loved Oasis, feel damn lucky I grew up with both bands - and all the other great ones - that made up the Brit Pop era.

No country house kicks ass

Yeah It was an anthem in the UK. Can't beat it.
Great, fun pop song. Satirical.
I'd go with oasis down to rock n roll but blur were more like a Beatles for moving on and not sounding the same on next album etc
I was 6 years old when this band was on their prime
We never gonna find any band to be this big ever again imo
Lol, ok...
Love BritPop sooo much but Blur took way more creative chances than Oasis ever did

Noel is right. Compared to other Oasis tunes...its basic nursery rhyme fodder
LoLzZ85 roll with it is a classic for me
You can tell he misses oasis
What a great time. Nothing like it since and probably never will be.
Hmm perhaps it was just your youth???
@@sratus I agree. Everyone banging on about the 90s. It’s just that you were younger, better looking and didn’t have a mortgage. 👉Your mates weren’t married yet and the wonder of wide eyed youth was still fresh.☠️. Young people today will say the same thing in 25 years time…….and today’s pop music scene will be viewed through rose-tinted glasses as amazing……..simply because it will be in the past.
I don't get why people can't just appreciate the music. I am a massive Oasis and Blur fan but they both have their flaws. Oasis have a very similar formula for all their songs and there are some that stand out sometimes do to different instrumentation and melody, but essentially it's Noel Gallagher's cranked up es335 blarring out open chords and doing blues fills and licks, which isn't a bad sound I love it because of the energy and excitement it brings but you find it becomes a bit repetitive especially in some of their earlier tunes, stuff off of Definitely Maybe. I love that album, but it becomes a bit repetitive sometimes. Also, the bands live performances I think are some of if not the best concerts in rock n roll history and were way better than Blur, partly because of the energy and fun they bought. Blur had some outstanding musicianship and were experimental and had a really great rock tone when it came to Graham Coxon's telecaster. Speaking of Coxon, he's one of the most underrated and best guitarists in the world and the reason why he's so underrated is because he's so humble and doesn't like to bring up how good he is. As brilliant as Noel is Graham outshines him massively. He's also an outstanding musician and him and Damon Albarn made a great team when it came to producing some absolute classics. You listen to the album Parklife then listen to Blur (1997) and realise how different they sound. Like a song like Beetlebum compared to Girls and Boys, what a difference. And both are great tracks. They just were extremely educated in music and were not scared to go out of their comfort zone, which is why I love them so much and often find myself liking them more than Oasis, but it's really mixed for me. At a time I was just like all the rest of the Oasis fans in the comments, and no offense to you guys but you criticise any other band that isn't Oasis and just start arguments and wars in the comments. But I had a listen to Blur and opened up to them and I'm glad I did, Oasis and Blur were some amazing one of a kind bands, so have your opinions but don't spread hate and just appreciate the music.
I can't understand how he slagged Roll With It . It was a great tune on a great album, and sign of the times
I like it but it was still probably one of their weakest early singles.
Rockin' chair was the best song released that week.
Noel does have a point actually about the 2 singles in Battle of the Bands. The NEXT singles both bands issued, Wonderwall and The Universal are both classics though!
Both are amazing bands I was born in 2000s. I grew up listening to Oasis and Blur and both of their musics are spectacular, my father is more of an Oasis fan and I'm more into Blur but I really admire Oasis too.
I love oasis and blur, but pulp were fuckin great too man!!!
I can picture Liam standing at the door, waiting for the guy without one shoe haha :)
There are literally a dozen people with acid flashbacks of Liam from Oasis explaining that he was just making sure they had both shoes. And it weren't a problem.
Imagine if you just lost your shoe in the mosh pit and someone else took it and ditched it at Liam. You've already lost your shoe then there he is waiting for you and you didn't do anything.
Huw Guyver ttttt th that’s all folks
Noel is very harsh on Roll with it, Everyone goes more mental live more than the other songs I have found except maybe Cigarettes and Alcohol.
He literally said Cigarettes and Alcohol was the better song
Both very different bands ..both made some good music 👍..
Love how Noel and Liam have swapped roles on TOTP just for a laugh.
Liam's fake strumming in the background is equal parts amazing and awful 😆.
Blur vs oasis, one band with a creative genius as a front man, was successful in most genres and was VERY successful in most of the UK. The other band is oasis
Very true
And with the best guitarrist of his generation

GhostShock Liam actually wants to reunite
No way. Liam seems open to it, but Noel doesn't
I need Noel to do another Gorillaz song (one where I can actually hear him)
That battle was only marketing. Noel acknowledges that "roll with it" was clearly not their best song (probably their least interesting on "Morning glory" by the way...)
roll with it is fkn class, better than anything fkn blur produced in great escape anyway
The guy must have brought an extra shoe, just to throw it at Liam. I admire the dedication.

JC_ LloydMO7 it’s because they didn’t let you play live so they just took the piss instead

I enjoy both bands equally. Oasis has more consistency in their music, whereas Blurs music has a good radius of style and uniqueness. I feel in America Oasis knocked the feet from under Blur, but Blur stole the show here with Song 2, a song they didn’t think they should release.
I do like oasis but in terms of songwriting, musicianship and inventiveness blur have always been lightyears ahead
