    Great video. My wife and I have owned the Allant+ 7 for about a month. Totally love the bike ! Rides like a dream, the mid drive and integrated battery keep the weight low and centered. We have taken them off road as well and still smooth. To me it is like a Cadillac Escalade. You will find yourself exploring more and commuting more too. Navy blue does show the dust. Shocks are a bit stiff. Also had to upgrade my car tow rack to the Thule EZ Fold which was almost $800.

    Thanks for the review. Liked the front end production quality intro. [... a half century ago, I lived at Agnes and McClellen and spent my summer evenings riding the streets of the lower east side and downtown. This dates me ... I still ride a lot, but ... starting to consider an e-bike] Be well.

    Nice review - I just test rode one and coming from a Rad Mission and Rad Runner owner, it's night and day on the Trek. Now to trade(sell) up....

    Jason thanks for the "ride along". I own a '06 Trek Multitrack 7500 that I bought new and have enjoyed and kept in very good condition. I even got into doing my own maintenance with tools from Park Tool. I bought the home mechanic bicycle repair stand that will hold even a heavier ebike. I'm going to stay brand loyal and I'm saving for an Allant+ 7s to do recreational riding here in Fort Collins.

    Just discovered your channel... nice video! What is the difference between the +7 and the +7S? Is it the frame only?

    • @RiDetroit
      @RiDetroit  Před 2 lety

      The +7 has is Class One and a top speed of 20mph. The +7s is Class 3, top speed of 28mph.

    What size did you get. I’m 6.0 feet would you recommend at XL ?

    Very nice. I Ebike around Oakland County on a Giant. How do you feel about the smaller 650 wheels? It seems to limit the tire choice in road tires.. Puncture protection is important when commuting. Nice bike, info, and camera work. Thanks :)

    • @RiDetroit
      @RiDetroit  Před 3 lety

      I don’t mind the smaller shells unless I’m trying to keep up with a class 3 which is rare. I did just order Tannus punture protection but I haven’t installed it yet. That was our first crack at video. Wait til you see the next review of the Tern HSD. I’ll probably do one on the punture protection as well.

      @@fendermon I have this and I love it. It is a fast bike, but I haven't got it up to 28 mph yet. 25 mph was my highest. It's nice to have the power when you need it. I'm just taking my time breaking in the bike for now. I just love every time I'm on it. Best investment I've made in a long time.

      @@markdanielczyk5132 Congrats, that's a sweet bike. Is it geared tall enough for you? There are a lot of E-bikes that have mountain bike gearing for some reason. Either way, enjoy. If it's built anything like my bike it will be totally worth it.

  • @TheRealBicycleResurrector1

    I have this bike and for the most part love it, BUT!!! Mine has been frought with Clunking Snapping noises out of no where. At first it seemed as if it was the cassette witch is your 9 speeds on the rear wheel for those who don't know what a cassette or cluster is. When I took it to the shop and the owner rode next to me he could see and hear the cassette jumping or snapping so we both came to the conclusion that it and the chain needed replacing witch he did, supposedly at his cost. This was after a few hundred miles mind you. I RIDE MY BIKE!!!
    From trips of 4 miles to 22 miles and a one time 29.5 mile round trip I had accumulated a few hundred miles when this annoying distressing Skip Clunk started to occur. After He replaced the parts it seemed ok for a ride or two but then it started in again, His solution was USE OTHER GEARS. Look for $3,900 with an advertised top speed of 28 miles per hour I want that 28 miles per hour. Using Other gears will not get you that 28mph Unless you pedal your head off pedalling so fast your brain cant think.. 9th gear on turbo does get you that 28mph and I've been spoiled on that 28 mph so when after a few more rides the noise was back and the dealer said use other gears that was not acceptable. I reached out to Trek and although they would not confirm it was a defect, the person that responded told me to take it to the dealer and have them put in a warrantly claim so something must be going on they just don't want to own up to it. Other than the above issue I really Love my bike. I do not drive so it gets me from point A to point B faster than any other pedal bike out there to my knowledge. I decided to comment on this review in hopes that maybe if others were experiencing my problem they could comment back and if enough of us end up complaining about it then we can contact trek and maybe they will put in a recall to fix it. In the video witch I apprecaite, Thank you, but in the video The rider is not taxing the motor to its full capability. He was doing more in city commuting witch was nice I am glad he did a review but I don't ride much in a city until I get to point B. My travel is on a US Route witch takes 11 miles to get to that city so therefore I want to get there as quick as possible and So I Put it in Turbo and 9th gear and GO. I am gone. I do shift down to around 5th gear to climb hills, But onthe flats in 9th gear if and when I do slow down a bit to say 25 mph the motor gives one heck of an annoying SNAPPPPP. Remember earlier I mentioned the cassette was the issue. Well I am wondering if because that was defective maybe it taxed the motor and now the motor needs work? I did read some where that someone on another Trek eBike had to buy a tool and tighten his or her motor so I will have to look into that to see if that is what my new SNAP is all about. I bought mine back when they were $3899.99 now they run near $4500 for the same bike witch is imho too much of a hike in price. I may end up doing my own review on my bike specifically but for now I thought I would comment here. Sorry for the long winded speech lol. Good luck with yours.

    Should I get this or carbon 9.9 version?

    • @RiDetroit
      @RiDetroit  Před 3 lety +1

      What I tell people is if you can afford to get that do it. If you can’t the 7S has the same rope speed and if you not concerned with those few few extra pounds save the money.

      @@RiDetroit Thank You sir for your insight. I like carbon but wanna something that both me and wife can ride. I also found a rear rack that rate up to 300lbs (so i can even cary her as passenger). We only weight 245lbs combined. The extra weight does not bother me but seems like the 9.9 does not have the suspension fork which is a minus. If my wife like the 7 I can always give it to her and save up for the domane slr 6 since i love carbon. And it has the same frame and fork as the domane 9 just lesser component. Then we can ride

    I researched a touring ebike for riding around town. I bought the RAD Rover 6 for ~ $2K. You get front shocks. You can add a USB charger to charge your phone. It includes a power on demand throttle when you need to say cross an intersection quickly. The 4" fat tires act as a shock absorber giving a smoother ride. You can upgrade to puncture resistance tires. Its hub drive with enhanced gearing for hills. I've found for city riding there is real no advantage of mid drive vs hub drive. For ~ $4k the Allant 7 you get NO USB charger, NO on demand throttle. Thin high pressure tires where you feel every bump. You do get the "Trek" name. RAD has excellent support as well! No I don't work for RAD nor am I getting any compensation for this article. Very dissapointed in Treks lack of innovation - seems that just took a regular road touring bike, added a motor and charged alot of $$ for the Trek name .

      Everybody has their own specific needs and desires for their bikes. That's why the industry makes so many different flavors. I am a long time fan of Trek and own several Trek road bikes. I just traded in two Trek commuter bikes, bought my wife the Verve+ 3 lowstep, and myself the Allant+ 7S. I have nothing against RAD, and there are situations that this might be the bike of choice. Trek has all kinds of innovations in their bikes. The Bosch motor and drive system is top shelf. USB port to charge my phone is way down the list on my needs. Besides, I carry a power bank for that. I wanted an ebike that more closely resembled a bicycle than a scooter. I did not want a throttle, and preferred the pedal assist, which is fantastic by the way. If I ran the battery out, or had an issue, I have no interest in pedaling a bike with 4" tires many miles to get home, plus these two bikes pedal and ride very nicely without any pedal assist. I'm sure that RAD is working on support, but when we travel all over in our RV, it's nice to know that I can walk into a Trek dealer or shop nearby just about anywhere and get on the spot service. The most important thing is, keep on riding and enjoying the journey!
