0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds... same as a Ferrari Enzo. I know this is 4 wheel drive but still, lets apreciate how insane that is.
And no electric motors to help either, pretty good indeed
@@Carlisho #BanAnime
I've done 3.2 seconds in mine. Real tested numbers see below 3.6,
3.2-3.4 to be specific
This car is a beast to say the least and love every bit of it. Puts a lot of cars on the road to shame that's for sure. Even gives the RS6 & RS7 a run for its money
Yeah, not insane unless you’re awaking from a coma. It’s 2022, not Y2K.
@@_Ambition124 i would definitely choose this over the model 3 performance
The lights saying “RS3” is badass! I love when manufacturers do quirky things like that.
Exactly what i thought
Honestly as much as I love what they did to this RS3 performance-wise, I'd much rather they pissed off with that quirky light dance and gave me some decent materials near the center armrest. That cheap plastic isn't acceptable at this price point, especially not in a place you constantly touch.
@@xIcarus227 I don’t think they need to piss off with the lights. They could just do both. Not one or the other.
to bad no company makes a 35K compact sedan that comes close to this
Quirky lights like that are probably going to be problematic and expensive to fix.
I LOVE the Audi RS3! I've been a 5 cylinder engine fan since the late 80s early 90s Audi Quattro days. 2.2 liter 20 valve 5 cylinder, amazing power and even better sound. I was so excited when Audi realesed it again with the TTRS and RS3. This thing is a true pocket rocket with Forged internals and dual fuel system from the factory! This thing has 10 fuel injectors and is a easy E85 setup.
The Audi TTRS is one of my favourite Cars and if I could afford to get one from the Company that you can buy a totally Modified Car from them I definitely would (I'm pretty sure The Smoking Tire featured one once). I can't remember the name of the Company off-hand, but I know it's in the southern US I believe (perhaps Alabama or something like that). I might have to look at one of these RS3’s though. I have been waiting for Subaru to come out with a worthy all-new WRX STi, but it doesn't seem like that is going to happen, so perhaps an Audi RS3 modded to about 700whp might be a smarter/more reliable purchase. But my Neighbour finally said I could buy his 2001 Chevrolet Shortbox Regular Cab with a 6.0L LQ9, LS3 Manifold, Brian Tolley Stage 3 Cam, HD Springs + Guides, 3600 Yank Converter, James Hetfield Built 4L80E, 3.73 Detroit Trutrack Posi, Caltrac Traction Bars, Full Stainless Works Exhaust with Long Tube Headers full 3-inch Piping, LS3 Manifold, Full Custom Driveshaft and HD Joints. It's just asking for a big Turbo so it’ll be my first project getting that put in it and then having a Cage built and Tubbed for some fat Mickey Tompson Drag Slicks and a narrow Axle before getting a new Car. It has Volk te37’s on it right now.
That color is sick! I miss when companies took chances on exterior and interior colors. This one is beautiful.
Yeah, Audi is offering some GREAT exterior colors. Too bad their interiors only come in black, or black with a tiny bit of green. Would love some saddle brown, or even gray or tan.
It's coming back for sure. Even Mazda started offering some interesting choices. BMW has the pastel blue yas marina on the m4, the gold, lime green, merc on the cla has factory matte clear finishes, alfa on the giulia quad with that grey, purply misty one, i like in particular.
I'm an automotive colour tech, so hey. Love that i get to mix and match some different stuff.

i know doug isn’t into modifications, but these RS3s have built a great reputation for power. Many of them are pushing 1,000 + horsepower and not skipping a beat. Audis 5 cylinders have always been great
I have a 2015 s3 and with a tune these things fly, an rs3 is even better
Ehhh 1000hp is kinda of stretching it most of these 2.5 liters are reliable around 700-800 hp.
@@killakam123321 there’s plenty of people over 1000
@@killakam123321 no not really
Many of them are 1000 hp, but as you said yourself, they are only reliable at around 700
@@dumtree3727 im not saying they dont exist ik iroc makes extremely fast rs3. I just know stuff starts breaking past that 800 figure lol
The sharp angular interior design and all the HEXIGONS really make it feel like a baby Lamborghini
I bought a 2016 rs3 just a week ago. Its heaven. the Engine is pure and raw 5 cylinder fun. Incredible.
Going 180 in a car roughly the same size as a Corolla will be the most terrifying thing Audi has done
Na remember its a german car they are all very stable at higher speeds
@@draggy6544 not all German cars are the same. This is still a transverse engine, fwd architecture Golf underneath it all. The real autobahn cruisers are the rwd based, longer wheelbase sedans
front-heavy like an arrow. Won't be a problem.
Done about that in my rs3 and the car handles it very well considering it’s a bit over a foot off the a miata
my corolla feels like its going to take off going 90 mph I cant imagine going twice that lol
It literally makes zero sense that these manufacturers won't offer the hatch & wagon versions of these cars in the US market when 90% of buyers here are hyper fixated on having a rear hatch area, usually thru an SUV but I guarantee the hatchback RS3 would sell better here than the sedan.
The only problem is many Americans view minivans and wagons as "family vehicles" not realizing SUVs are the new "family vehicle."
Hatch and Wagons dont sell the best in USA. I love them, I have a 2015 s3.
@@alp.9672 my first car in highschool was a Subaru GL-10 wagon. Loved that car but was constantly asked why I had a family car?
@@stevenwilliams1805 yea it's ironic and kinda depressing lmao
@@alp.9672 ik pretty much all I've ever owned were hatches & wagons. Have had 4 sedans, a sport coupé, 1 truck, 2 minivans, and 7 hatches & wagons haha. Favorites being my current GT Sport, my Saab 9⁵ Aero Wagon, and an old 09 Spectra5 SX. It's a shame they get so stigmatized here bc imo they're superior in almost every single way to an SUV.
9:39 thanks for the static image Doug, it really helps to transmit what an rs3 drift looks like
Love this car. Had an A3 from 2016-2019 and I loved it. Imagine having this amount of power. 😀 wish I had the money to buy it lol.
People in 2040 be like: "Man I miss those times where 120% of the front end was taken up by the grille and everything else was an afterthought at best."
then you just buy a classic car.
I hate it on the Chevy Silverado. It’s just ridiculous. Looks like a giant mouth
In 2030 where bmw is nothing but grille I hope Audi doesn’t follow
Imagine hitting a deer 🦌. Its over for your front end.
Lol
Love the content Doug. Keep hearing sports cars compared to the Cayman, but only ever see reviews for GTS/GT4/GT4-RS. Any chance we could see a base Cayman/ T / S review and model heirarchy explanation any time soon? Thanks again.

Audi says that “Additionally, the all-new Audi RS 3 set the lap record for compact cars on the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time of 7 minutes 40.748 seconds”, which is very quick indeed.
Yeah that’s quick it beat the civic type r. By 3 seconds. With 100 more hp. And awd. Damn
@@rayhanrizvi334 cars are getting better every year. I Love It!
@@rayhanrizvi334 doesn't mean it's shit, just means that the civic is amazing and Honda knows what they're doing extremely well.
@@rayhanrizvi334 What Civic? RS3 beat Renault Mégane R.S. Trophy-R's time.
And RS3's lap is quicker than the Type R's by about 8s and not 3s comparing 20.6km times. Type R lap was for 20.6km about 5 years ago and the full lap (20.832km) was introduced in 2019.
Take that record with a huge grain of salt. The laptime Audi is quoting was set by their own professional driver, while its competitors (notably the A45S) largely had their laptimes on that track set by press drivers, which just aren't on the same level. As a result if you check fastestlaps you'll notice that the A45S is quicker on most tracks where laptimes were set.
Nurburgring is a very technical track and the driver matters _a lot_ there. What Audi is saying about that 'record' is incredibly misleading and more people should be aware.
And it still has physical steering wheel buttons and AC buttons, very nice!
Gotta love this power train, apparently VW wanted to put this in the Mk8 Golf R but Audi said no 😢
Would've been great to see this power train with a manual in the R
They just need to put the 4.0TT in the Golf R 🤑 Jk, the golf R I drove didn’t feel in need of much more power. APR is a good resource if you disagree
@@connorberglund7032 Oh I don't think it needs more power, it's just that 5 cylinder is unique and sounds great. They can detune it to the 315hp mark that they went for with the EA888 and I'd still think that's fine
Why would the parent company VW need permission from their subsidiary company Audi? Makes zero sense
@@eternallogic6394 That's what I thought, but that's what the articles said
@@mistamaog They'd be shooting their RS3 brand in the foot if they did that. It would also lose its exclusivity

The volume knob is just a scroll wheel taken off a old school ipod. And for that nostalgia alone.. I kinda love it.
I like how Doug tells the history, the quicks and features of cars that go unnoticed. A car that I think Doug should review, if he can, is a Lamborghini Miura. The Lamborghini Miura is considered the world’s first super car, as it launched the super car era as we know it today.
He had a video on why he doesn't review old cars. He did a bunch of older lamborginis and ferrari on a trip to europe and no one watched the videos
He has a video on the Miura
I’ve been waiting for this review for a long long time! I love the RS3! 5cyl cars should be more common!
50% to the rear wheels BTW. Up to 100% of the 50% sent to the rear can be directed to either rear wheel.
Mine was too slow. I put a Rimac Nevera power train in mine. It now has 2100HP. A nice improvement.
It all started with the Audi sport Quattro and now this beast. Fantastic car and a video of it
I’ve never experienced one , if the color coincides with it’s performance I would be most pleased with it!!!
Doug's the type of guy to talk about how great it is that there's a drift mode but then never use it

I can't wait to get my ordered sedan in July :)
In germany you can also order the red interior package (so also red air vents and stuff like that), not only the green one.
Yeah he said that
I’d take the green because it is my favorite color. Bright green exterior and interior is a dream
@@drippgxd I thought about getting a green one too at first before i saw the color in real life.
It's really a bright and nice color but it's not a "deep" color. It looks very plain in RL.
After that i thought about a red one but that's a really unthankfull color in terms of scratches, dirt and so on.
In the end i took daytona grey pearl. In first sight a boring grey but with a deep color and in sunlight with really nice effects.
Just a classic color from audi :)
You have a VERY long wait. I ordered my RS3 in September 2021 when they went on sale in the UK, still no build date almost a year later and hundreds of folk over here are in the same position. Audi will need to clear all the UK and EU order backlogs before any cars ordered in 2022 get built. You could easily be looking at 2 years I am sorry to say.
@@luciussander8217 i was quiet pleased by the waiting time.
Ordered mine on the 13th of december 2022 and picked it up in Ingolstadt on the 15th of july.
The R50 (?) mini coopers have that same sunroof cover where u can open the roof while keeping the shade in place
The EA888's and RS Engines are really easy to tune to a lots of powers with stock internals. Not sure if this RS block is Aluminium.. the early ones are Cast Iron and can easily do 1000hp+ with some intake, fuel upgrades. ofc a bigger turbo and intake.
I love this car and everything about it, but I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of the black trim that surrounds the front grill. It gives the headlights a bit of a weird look with the way it sits around them. If they kept it hexagonal and left out the little piece that extends under the headlights (or maybe thinned it out a bit?), I think it might look a little better. Still, beautiful car inside and out, and the performance is seriously impressive, I'm happy to hear understeer isn't really a noteworthy problem on this particular Audi. Loving the showroom color they chose too! That limeish green is sick.
Very cool car, I'm glad it exists still. But $70k will always be hard for me to wrap my head around for a compact sedan.
I agree
I wonder how much lower the price could be if they only focused on things that matter for the car instead of gimmicks many people could live without... like dancing lights, adjustments and gadgets you'd rarely fiddle with.
The one sad thing about RS3s to me is the fact that these hold their value. Even used RS3s are still in the 50s.
@@PacoRobbins cars holding value is a red flag 🚩! That is unfair af
This is THE compact sedan. And I’m sorry that you’re stuck in 2012 not understanding car prices.
This is such an amazing car for the value. I used to drive a 2014 VW Jetta GLI Edition 30. I notice a strong resemblance in size and finishes. The power upgrade in the RS would be so much fun. The major downside is the low profile tires. Driving this even under 10k miles per year, the flat tires get super exhausting.
the volume control is an audi take on the old ipod system always loved it there
I still find it odd looking at how some Audi's and even Porsches have that opening in front of the front door panel. Makes it look like it's been in a little accident
The new Cayman GT4 RS actually shaves the front fender off behind the wheel.
It's for air to flow through.
@@snakeeyes9246 in Porsches maybe, but this one's fake.
This is just a small detail and I'd forgive it, but that big 'grille' on the back bumper is yikes. RS5 has the same thing, no idea why they did it.

Mini F chassis cars allows you to open up the sunroof and close the sunshade!!! Such a great feature
I personally like the B9 design a bit better, the grill is so exaggerated on this model, but love love love a crazy Audi sport sedan.
My B8.5 S4 makes almost 500hp now and does about 3.5s 0-60 and is a riot to drive. Love surprising V8 muscle cars and older supercars on the street and at the strip
haha always fun to surprise them
I agree with Doug on the size, I think it's quite the perfect toasable shape of sedan, now everything has grown..
My Mini Cooper S 2022 has this feature when you open the sunroof but close the shade.
Best review on the new RS3
the front end messes with its proportions in a way, it looks like the grille belongs on a q7
And this grille didn't even really look good on the Q7
i also hate this grill but still better than the bmw ones
manufacturers should stop oversizing the grill
I think it’s the strange paintjob. The black should not overreach to the headlights
same, last gen RS3 front end was far more palatable but still aggressive. I'm afraid this massive grille trend will continue worsening until ICEs are banned lol

@@Pi4zza yes if we watch the video we see that
I do NOT understand why Audi will not sell the hatch in the U.S. I get that wagons don't sell well here, yet Audi gives us the Avant of the larger models... BUT, we do like hatchbacks, and this one looks GREAT. Such a shame, as the sedan looks very ordinary in comparison. 😐
"We" the people who like hatchbacks and wagons are not the majority sadly. What's ironic though is that us americans seem to love crossovers and suvs, which in my opinion look worse than both sedans and hatches.
I suspect the reason is because SUVs dominate the US market. Any variance of the same model would just be competing with itself.
Subaru stopped selling the Hatch too and it saddens me because I love hatchbacks and I’m not really into GTIs and don’t have money to go up to Golf R territory nobody makes cool hatchbacks anymore beside the GR Corrola and that things gonna be selling for 45k+ easily.
