These shoes definitely make you run a little faster but the greater benefit is they prevent injuries. I’ve been running in these shoes for over 2 years without a blood blister, hamstring pull, calf or foot cramp, knee or hip soreness and I have experience way less fatigue after a long run or race. They’re worth every penny. It’s ridiculous the shoe got banned from the Olympics in the first place just because all the other shoe companies couldn’t figure out how to steal their technology at the time.
No litterly the squishyniss of the heal with the bounce wld be so good for running on concrete sense it kinda replicates the affects to running on grass but give you more momentum
the alphaflys you can buy now aren't banned, but the previous ones were because they had 50mm stack of foam and 3 carbon fiber plates, 1 running through the entire shoe and 2 more in the forefoot
They have a carbon fibre plate inside the sole, that is why they bounce off the ground quite well. You can find somebody cut them in half and show us the carbon fibre plate in it. They kind of called it "mechanical doping" as these give you significant advantage over other participants.
If you're not rich I'd advise you to not use them as a daily trainer. Zoomx is not so durable, air pockets even less. The upper is not durable either l, they basically wanted to make a high performance shoe and they had to sacrifice durability to not sacrifice weight. Also it is a bit unsteady for a daily trainer and too bouncy for slow runs
You can only get two hundred miles out of them before they are worn out and shouldn’t be tan in. They really should only be used on workout days and races.
Shoes do make a huge difference in your ability to run. I used to die while running. Through a little bit of work, i grew more resistant, and ran a bit faster. 11 minute mile to a 9 minute mile. But i still felt more pain and fatigue while running (as would be expected of running, but im getting to my point). I got a new pair of running shoes, and i have never felt so comfortable running in my life. I felt like i could fly. Not even a couple weeks later, with the new shoes, i went from a 9 minute mile to a 7 minute mile.
