      Yup. I hunt around Mt St Helens area for black tail, last year I saw one black tail which happened to have a decent fork and took him. Can easily see 3 or 4 herds of elk to every 1 black tail.

    According to their site: Six night stay, with five days of unguided, daily drop off and pick up hunting. Arrive the evening before your first day of hunting and depart the morning after your last day of hunting. Price per person: $3,132. (Minimum of two people per party, two people per cabin, and a four night minimum stay.) For safety reasons, we always ask that you hunt with a companion on an unguided hunt. Please either book with a buddy, or we may be able to match you with another single hunter if the opportunity presents itself, or you must request a guide. So how did you get to do it alone?

    But I will say hunting raspberry is one of the more dangerous places to hunt there. Too many elk hunters and the bear have been accustomed to running towards a gun shot because they know they'll find a dinner there! It's not nearly as bad elsewhere on the island

    I have enough trouble with whitetail here in Sunset, SC. Most of the hunters I talk to pick the easy areas to hunt. This is my first year hunting and I’m trying to hunt whitetail in the steep mountains. I still hunt and these bucks will wear you down. I’m hunting in sections where it’s full of mountain laurel and pine trees. I called in a buck but he would only come close enough to where I still couldn’t see him. He would get close and then back off:he did this for over one hour-not the first time this has happened. What is the deal? I guess I might need to try using a stand. What I’ve noticed in your hunts is you have very good visibility most of the time. Have you ever hunted in thick stuff where bucks toy with you?

    • @billysmith6633
      @billysmith6633 Před 5 lety

      use a decoy to get him in closer...he wants to see what he's hearing.

    • @foreignbeggar3783
      @foreignbeggar3783 Před 5 lety

      deer are fucking smart man. and they’re verrrry weary. of everything. because everything is trying to eat them. if your issue is visibility, hunt less dense areas, or try to get above it. but you also have to take into consideration that if you’re getting above the thick shit, you’re going to have to clear out shooting lanes. otherwise? you’re not gonna shoot through that.

      David Mills on average a black tail deer is about 90 lbs , did shoot one in Oregon, one year that was like 170 , had a stud of a body as far as blacktail deer go but was only A 2x3

    If a perfect skyline butt hole shot presents itself and I'm shooting my 300 WM is it unethical? I mean at 100 yrds I should be able to skewer him?

    Lol.. Those islands are the easiest to hunt. U head up to 1000+ ft line, get above the heavy brush and walk the ridge lines looking down. I live there. There are no 'giant' mountains there.. Lol

    Amazingly naive to be carrying your gun in a protective cover while hunting kodiak and alone . You hike with a partner and you hike wth a BIG caliber rifle with one in the chamber, safety on. I live there and have hunted it for 40 years. Too many bear around, and sows with cubs are scary dangerous and love to maul. The big boars will usually just chase you off of your downed deer.... Usually
