    Getting 1 tomorrow... Bought a used Cali plated EXC and my first real ride I was tripping out about the backfires. THEN when I did a hill ride, was battling to keep her running at certain times. Knowing this will fix those issues AND get me up to 105 MPH faster on the street!? FingAright 🤘😂

    just installed vortex on my '19 XCF 450, along with a header pipe, and modified airbox so that big lung can breathe. now, i havent had much time to play with it, weather turnin cold here and startin to rain alot,.. but i did manage to get one good ride in. initial switch settings for low,med,high rpm's i put at #6 adding 2.5% fuel across the board. map switch i put at #7 gives more ign advance on bottom end,and a richer fuel map, i could immediately feel some improvement in performance, and experienced only one"flameout" during slow going technical course. i was experiencing multiple flameouts before. my next upgrade will be a 12oz. clutch weight to increase inertia/rotating mass, should end the flameout issue.. thanks jeff, appreciate your vids, and expertise. mike

    Honestly and with all due respect...You mentioned you have “extensive testing” with vortex ECU. However, later in the video you say you’re not familiar with how the settings work. Maybe you could clear the confusion on the expertise of the product. Thank you

    • @slaverace1

      Don: I've spent many hours testing GET and Vortex ECUs. In the video I said I'm not familiar with the map switch functions on the Vortex because I don't use the switch for testing and you have chosen to spin that into something I did not say. Maybe you should spend more time riding and less time putting me under the microscope.

    • @miles8686
      @miles8686 Před rokem

      @@slaverace1That is quite literally exactly what he asked. There was no “[spinning] it into something you did not say”. Not being familiar with the settings vs. not being familiar with the 9 other maps that come stock with the ecu are meant as the same thing.
      Ironically I am here for research of the other maps as well. And I have a habbit of checking the comments in research of answers to my questions so I don’t have to waste my time watching an 11 minute video that was created by an uneducated, egotistical, greenhorn.
      People ask question about marked up products that cost more than half a grand.
      Thank you for letting us dodge a bullet, and invalidating your self proclaimed “expertise” of the product. 😊

The 450 is perfect when its sandy open country but a lot of bike at other times. Some rides are technical forest, or slow & sandy with lots of 2nd corners but I'm also planning to do my first desert race on it (aim is just to finish). Not sure if that helps. Ed: I'm sorry for the very slow reply. The FMF header pipe and 4.1 muffler will add to the mid-range and top-end and that will be good for desert racing. For trail riding, the stock exhaust gives better low-end performance. The ECU will give the most bang for the buck.

    As a previous poster said, my 2017 500 also ran pretty good. In showroom stock condition, and I mean down to the gearing and tires, I could easily pull the front end straight up in 3rd gear with only throttle. I have read people stating they could not get the front end off the ground. Absurd! All I can say is try twisting the right grip. It does move.

      Even mopeds can pop wheelies, that is not an accurate performance evaluation. If you are fine with the stock performance that is fine with me but I prefer a 500 that runs like a 500, not runs like a 350.

    Hi there I have a ‘16 350exc-f with 5000km on it completely stock (besides removal of “EVAP canister” for better airflow) for all 5000 and have just removed the restrictions at the end of my stock pipe the other day, bike still runs great and even feels like it has opened the top end up a little bit! It has always had some overrun popping but I am comfortable with it and like it since most high-performance machines have it to some degree. I have not changed any TPS or ECU stuff whatsoever, the only thing I’ve done is remove silencing screens like I said. If the bike runs the exact same as, or even better than it did before with an even wider feeling top end (plus it sounds a lot better too!!) and the same amount of popping as before, do I still have to get it remapped and tuned? Or can I just leave it as long as it keeps running properly? I don’t want to do any long term damage unknowingly. I have considered vortex however it is obv. expensive and I am wondering the best place to get it, are all sellers reputable or can I get one through a wholesaler like eBay? Are all vortexes made equal by the same people? Thank you I know it’s a lot, any advice helps! great video!! Answered a lot of questions already!

Did the intake mod, took out reed valve and installed a velocity stack in air box, bike runs great. lately it was starting to get a random hick up under high load, just random enough that you can't help but notice it. all that power then it just quits a couple of strokes, any way checked everything and then put stock ECU back on no cut out or miss but under high RPM high load I can hear the top end rattling. The emissions requirement to bring into the States is for road legal emissions is that correct, because this is a road legal model? Barrier emissions does not effect closed course bikes? Is that right, cheers the whole thing is very confusing!
    The Vortex looks a great bit of kit, good information again cheers.

      If your bike is box stock it might not be needed BUT if you have done any mods (exhaust, etc.) or if it starts hard or pops on decel then it will be a BIG help.

    My 2017 FE350 has a FMF 4.1 slip on, air box opened up, and de-smogged, earth-x battery, tubeless on MT16's.
    Recently plugged in the vortex ecu. Low, mid, and high all set on 5 with the map on 1.
    Bike runs muuch better.
    Still getting a little pop on decel tho.
    I tried adjusting the fuel on low, mid, high and tried all 10 maps. I'm not noticing much(if any) difference between the maps?
    Anyone with a 350 find a sweet spot on the dials?
    Would a map switch even be worth the buy if I can't tell the difference between maps?
    .....Maybe I need more air?

      Richen the low adjuster, not the others. Put it on map 1.

I bought one that came off the FC model and was lead to believe it would plug right. not the case with my bike.

    Great video Jeff. Question: My 16' 501S has an FMF pipe and previous owner set the TPS to 0.65 and removed all smog. Bike pops like crazy on deceleration. If I buy the Vortex ECU and reset the TPS to factory (0.58) will I be good to go with the FMF pipe? Thanks in advance.

    • @slaverace1
      @slaverace1  Před 6 lety

      Yes, the TPS needs to go back to stock and the Vortex will not only stop the popping it will also make it start easier and give it a HP boost. There is a slim chance that you will need to slightly richen the Vortex but probably not.

    • @tontonn9995
      @tontonn9995 Před 6 lety

      Thanks very much for the quick response. Bike starts very easily right now but the popping is driving me and buddies crazy. Also, If I sell the bike can I just plug the factory ECU back on and it'll run like it did stock?

    Jeff, I just got a vortex in from you for my 2017 350 exc today. I did the intake mod and removed the exhaust screens. Did the tps calibration. The bike is back firing on decel and when revving in neutral. Is this normal? I've only tried map 1 and 5. Scared to mess up the motor.

    • @slaverace1
      @slaverace1  Před 7 lety

      That is not normal. Put it on map one and richen the low rpm setting as per the instructions. It's very quick and easy to do.

      Jeff Slavens thanks Jeff. I got it dialed so it just barely pops when letting off the throttle. Is there an air/fuel meter I can buy so I can make sure I'm good? I'm paranoid about blowing this brand new motor up

      Jeff Slavens I also have a 17' FE350. Does the vortex come out of the box with a map for open exhaust (slip on system)? Will the box eliminate Carb codes from being thrown and account for fueling from removal of smog?
