    Jeff, thank you for the video. I have a '17 FE350 that I desmogged, Rocket exhaust and I put in an FX air boot with your Vortex ecu . Fit perfect, the temp sensor used different fasteners, but a really great upgrade and no snake oil used. Day/night difference!

    I just added the Vortex to my 450 six days. I had the EJK (JD) tuner on it prior , better than stock but still had flame outs quite often. Reeds are out as well . Vortex in -What a difference , this is the way the bike should come stock. Rode today on my tight single track and not one flame out - Big thumbs up . I also replaced the end cap

      I have in 3 years now not stalled my 2019 KTM 500 EXC even once, my old Yamaha WR450 used to stall all the time... But on my bike all restrictions has been removed and ECU reprogrammed for the full 58hp. Fully uncorked KTM 500 is a tractor that have huge power from bottom of rpm and no matter what gear you have it in when twisting that throttle, and even more power at the top :) (it has surprised me more then a few times with power wheelies at 110km/h when I was passing slow cars just by twisting the throttle...)

From research that I did they said on the smaller bikes like the 350Z ECU was not needed and could make the change with just TPS. Bike runs incredibly well way more power. Does have the backfire on decel. But what I benefit by putting the vortec ECU in for the money.

    My 2019 KTM 500 EXC did not have reeds in the air intake but a plastic funnel that was restricting air and it was a lot of work to remove it. Using reeds to do the same seems like expensive way to restrict the airflow... They did reprogram the ECU for full power (around 58hp) and disconnect the LAMBDA exhaust sensor at the dealership and for legal reasons I had to remove the air restriction and mesh in the exhaust myself. Top speed before removing air restriction was 110km/h as it was running extremely fuel rich :) After the top speed was around 175km/h.

It runs okay and doesn't backfire or anything, but it feels like my power curve isn't as smooth as it was stock. Feels like there are dead spots in certain rpms. Will the Vortex or GET ECU help with that, or am I just going crazy? The stock ECU MAP settings on my 2021 FE501 are fixed and won’t compensate for the lean condition the intake or exhaust will cause by improving air and exhaust flow. I’m doing the triple combo-Intake, FMF and Vortex next month all at the same time. The Vortex MAP has 10 preset tunes to choose from including altitude tunes. I can’t wait. So, my question is about the Vortex ecm versus the JD Tuner device~ in your honest opinion does the Vortex make a huge difference over the JD piggyback tuner?

      I'm a JD dealer and have known those guys for many years. They are good honest, helpful and knowledgeable people so I hate to say anything negative about their tuners.
      All brands (there are several) of the piggyback tuners are made by the same company in Montana. I've tried them on 2 stroke and 4 stroke KTMs and have never been satisfied with the results. They help the fueling but don't go far enough and they don't make any changes to ignition timing or ignition advance curves like GET and Vortex ECUs.
      If your bike runs well you might want to adhere to the old adage, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" .

    good video man. I just bought a 2020 ktm exc 500 with the O2 sensor. I'm having trouble finding if you need to install a fuel controller if you remove the reeds and put a more open end cap on the exhaust. New to EFI bikes. I always assumed O2 sensors was sort of a self tuner but when i did my first clearance check and pulled the plug, looks like the bike was running a tad on the lean side. I have seen guys on forums suggest its a closed loop system or something so the tuner would be needed. Bike does run good stock but you can tell its wanting to open up a bit more. Cheers!

    When I de smog my exc can I plug off the vent hose off the gas tank or does that have to stay open ?

    • @ppod450
      @ppod450 Před 4 lety

      It has to stay open to prevent your gas tank from going into a vacuum and starving the bike of fuel.

      @@ppod450 I just took the brass barb that was on throttle body and used that it still has a small hole to vent but won't allow gas to stream out in a tip over
