    One thing you want to do when tightening bushings is do it a ride height. You can jack up the brake rotor with your floor jack until the weight of the car is on it. Then tighten the bushings.

      True. Most tire shops just torque the hell out of wheel nuts to cover their ass. My 75yr old Dad had to get some kids to change a tire for him. When he got 4 new tires installed I told him to get them torqued to spec. Months later I went to swap tires for him. Took everything I had to break the lugnuts loose. Also agree with the pool noodle or even some of the pipe insulation sleeves(what I currently use,will try the pool noodle when I have to replace it.)
    If you don't have a set of "parrot pliers" get some! You can hold the end link which will help it not spin.

    I would google specs for each car before i get out of the truck. The bolts on my car are splined. You only turn the nuts. You put the impact wrench on the bolt and spun it off the nut. Also, they are supposed to face a certain way. In addition, the torque specs are different for each bolt/nut on the links and knuckle. I tightened the top mount bolts too much and it contributed to noise. I backed them off and torqued to spec. Noise gone. Front struts are important to get right.

    What do you think about duralast quick struts? I installed a set on a rav 4 a few weeks back and I was pleasantly surprised. It actually rode really good and there was zero noise from the struts. Way better than monroe, their shocks are garbage and most of their quick struts are even worse. Then again I've only done duralast quick struts once compared to the millions of times I've dealt with monroe

    Do you have to replace sway bars when you do struts? Or was that just customer preference?

    • @brycelund7155
      @brycelund7155 Před 3 lety +1

      Up here in the rust belt sway bar links must be replaced because you can’t get them off without a grinder. Unless you get lucky and have a flat on the back to hold them with a wrench. You do not have to replace sway bar links if they aren’t worn out so no. Usually they’ll Clunk if they go bad.
