No matter where you are or where you go on a cruise ship there is a camera. Other than inside your cruise cabin you will see a camera watching you on every foot of the ship including your balcony.
In modern society, you have to assume that you are "always on camera". In the grocery store, at the gas station, in Costco, in the doctor's office. I always thought this invasive, but now with modern society and the idea of "do whatever you want, there is no responsibility, and you will not be held accountable" we need this.
Yup, cameras are everywhere these days. Not just cruise ships. 👍

We seen the cameras on board. It's a good thing. They can monitor all kinds of activity. Living and working in Las Vegas. You get used to it.

On our last cruise my son dropped his stuffy down the stairs and by the time he got to where he dropped it, it was gone. He was devastated, thinking it was stolen, but I pointed out the cameras everywhere and took him to guest services. They were able to use the cameras to track down his toy and return it to him.
Now if only the cameras would pick up on the crazy kids running the length of the stateroom aisles and sending someone to stop them......
I was going to say too bad the cameras don't seem to catch all the balcony smokers.
They must have quite a laugh back there in the master control room. I wonder if they ever have a best of videos at one of th we or crew parties ⚓️

Glad that the cameras are there- makes me feel safer! How come they never see the ones with lights on the balcony, playing loud music? This happened to us on Royal Mariner and woke me twice, out of a good sleep! Rude and unnecessary!!!

I don’t know, if you and your partner want to get frisky at 2 am, and you’re discreet about it, let them watch! Spice their 2 am security watch. No harm done if your neighbors don’t know.

There could also be a false sense of security with the cameras. Look at how that man vanished from a Carnival ship, and they had no videos of him!!

Cameras are everywhere to protect the cruise lane and passengers. Don't expect to get away with anything as you are being watched.

YES, there are security cameras everywhere (except of course, not in your cabin).
When I was on the QM2 a couple years ago, I was invited by the security officer on a tour and explained his job and showed me the security room.
Nobody is watching those cameras. But they are live and recorded and being taped 24/7...for everyone's safety.
Feel free to be frisky on your balcony, out of view or noise to your neighbors. But yes, you probably are recorded.

Do they actually inform you if they catch you actually doing it on the balcony though? I would assume they would keep it quiet instead of embarrassing the guests and only inform if it’s something more serious like smoking on the deck?

I never understood why people are so afraid of being watched? If you don't break the law, you should not be worried. In fact, I am always happy that I am being watched... because then I have evidence if someone attacks or steals from me.
