This series has been so great. Coincidentally, I've just started playing DS2 for the first time and I love learning more and more about it, and this series has been so instructive.
Thax i appreciate it
The black witch staff is OP because of its scaling in everything (magic, lightning, dark, fire).... but (fun fact) it has a weird animation where your character sheathes the staff on his back but the staff appears on your leg.
YEAH I JUST NOTICEd THAT 45 mins ago
Does the scaling in fire actually do anything?
To my knowledge it can't cast pyromancy, so I've never known why it has fire scaling.
Unless that's just for the staff bonk?
@@aprinnyonbreak1290 Haven't played the game in a while but I think all the scaling stacks on any kind of spell.
This, i have been looking so hard for a video like this, thanks my man, many, many thanks
Thank you, helped a lot
You can actually get the witch tree branch from the weird humanoid living tree sorcerers in Eleum Loyce. I've got the drop myself, cost me a lot of time though so good luck
Is there going to be a shield guide as well? Or maybe armor sets as well just wondering. Would also like to see a list of the easiest/hardest bosses and areas in your opinion of course.
Shields are statsticks. Try to learn to play with out them and you'll enjoy the game alot more. :)
My man just dunked on spears 💀. Great video anyway, as always!
Did i say something bad about spears in this video?
@@eddielolivares3952 I expected spears up next, that's all, I am glad you are doing magic too tho!
@@akinji3075 haha i see, i think someone asked for magic first though. but no worries i'm doing spears next :D
@Eddiel we want E V E R Y T H I N G
Damn, pure raw power!
Coming across it in 2024. Just finished normal ds2 and playing SotfS and wanted to play int sorcerer. I guess staff of wisdom is the way to go since I will go very heavy int.
It's possible to get the sunset staff very quickly by killing the Dragonrider twice (bonfire ascetic for the second). You can get him to fall to his death both times and between the XP and cashing in his souls you will have enough to buy your Int and Wis up until Felkin will give you the Staff. It's likewise possible to rush to the Staff of Wisdom, but its 50 Int requirement means pretty much everything needs to go into Int to use it early.
Hey bro can you also show where we can find them
I would like to see what you think are some the best melee weapons for a hexer and maybe also a cleric and sorcerer. The reason I ask this is the wiki says the straight sword from the fume Knight's soul should be the best dark hexer weapon, but that doesn't seem to be true with the issue being damage. Also maybe you can go over your favorite spells for PvE. Would you ever use the hexer spells that cost souls to cast?
I think dark orb is really strong in pve and i can pretty mu h carry u though the game. Bandit axe or battle axe can also be really go weapns for hexers.
I use mostly dark orb and a silverback spear. It is great for crowds of spiders. Santiers spear is good also. Rapier for most of the bosses.
I use a Murakumo infused with Dark. Decently fast hits, very good chance to stagger (especially 2HR2) and excellent damage. Black Witch Staff in the off hand for enchanting with Dark when necessary for a bit more of a boost.
Weapon is very subjective, it depends on what you like, any weapons are good weapon depends on your play style. We really can't say a sword is better than dagger in DS. You might find weapons that deal so much damage, but the moveset not suite your play style. Personally, I prefer smaller weapons than huge heavy ones because of their moveset and speed.
Just the Handaxe is pretty solid early on. It's nothing special, but it's a good combination of low requirements, fair damage, and relatively quick attacks, for outright killing easier enemies, or getting the last bit on tougher ones.
It doesn't really synergize, and it takes some investment away from pure casting, but the Artisan's Hammer is just a super, super solid weapon I like tossing onto whatever. Blunt damage is so good in this game, and the Artisan's Hammer, imo, is a great sweet spot of middling investment for high reward.
Some things you havent mentioned:
Azal's staff reduces all your spell uses by 50-70%, and has 4 durability. Its useless
Black with staff allows use of all spells except pyromancies (even chime spells)
How come you can't use the staff of wisdom for hexes?? Can someone please explain this?
The staff of wisdom is crystal tipped, which is highly associated with specifically magic in the series. So it's for lore and game design reasons
Hey, guy? Do you still read these? I was kinda hoping if you could find out how much stamina these catalysts consume, maybe chimes as well. I remember seeing spell tools all consumed varying amounts of stamina, and i just want it verified.
I suspect sorcerer's staff takes the least of all staves, but i'd like some verification.... I'd do it myself, but my ps4 busted a week ago (before this time of writing.)
I just think this info would add a new element to staff choices.
I dont know, maybe some one can help you out in the comments or perhaps reddit.
How about stamina consumption, I have heard that different staves consume more or less stamina while casting spells.... that is also something to consider.
Maybe the wheight of the staff or the spell cast has an effect on stamina, don't really know
@@eddielolivares3952 kinda like weapons from the same class consume different stamina, like bastard sword consumes less than the claymore. Or in ds3 longsword consumes less than LKS.... I will just try myself, thanks ayway
One question.I play as pyro swordsman and i am thinking of using sorcery. Is it worth?
Its up to you i might be worth trying if u have never tried it b4. Ds2 gives u a lot of soul vessel letting u respec at any time u want.
If you're a pyro, you presumably pumped stats that increase fire damage. That would combo better with hexes, since the same stats also boost dark. But if you want to try out sorceries without having to respec, try the Blue Flame Sword. It can cast sorceries with R2.
@@Cooleepable In DkS you can be a Pyro with either only INT or only FTH. Fire scaling is the sum of both, unlike Dark.
Uhmm not really it wont do as much damage, fire is better to combine with hex spell. They get extra dmg from the same stats
You missed the bat staff my man!! It's pretty good
Ohh damn sry
I just hate how you don’t get many casts and you need a ton of spell slots to even use one or two powerful spells it’s annoying. I’m just using multiple copies of dark orb and sunlight blade or dark weapon
Chimes cast hexes too
Your Controller Batteries are Low
Lol
I use the lizard staff cuz its green. u get a boost in damage when wearing my favorite dress singers dress(: fashion souls too!!!
You have 33 wilted herbs in your inventory. How?
Never use them
Azal's staff should also be used by hexers after a certain level as it'll outscale the Sunset Staff eventually as it really is the ultimate damaging staff. However, it has several downsides such as reducing the number of spells you have to cast, a durability of 4, a below average casting speed and consumes more stamina than other staffs.
You can counteract these downsides by wearing the Bracing Knuckle Ring for durability, Lion Mage Set and Clear Bluestone Ring for casting speed, and the Crown of the Old Iron King for spell replenishment. You should also use a backup staff, preferably the Black Witch's Staff, to cast repair on it and in general use of the more utility based spells such as buffs.
Perhaps showing off gameplay with each type of staff and not being terrible at using spells would have made for a much better video. It was hard to listen to you talk about a certain type of staff when you're using a completely different one and getting punished for trying to spam spells.
