I can't believe i just found out about these reissues yesterday! I'm really contemplating on buying one when they come out as i really want a new superstrat guitar that stays in tune and is comfortable to play, yet is sort of vintage and this seems like it would fit the bill. Plus they are made in Japan and $1000? You just can't find quality guitars for that price nowadays as well as with these features. Nice one Ibanez!
@@michaeldean7220 I have had it for an year. Upgraded for some cheap esp. In the beginning I had cramps but now I can't play on non Ibanez necks. Beware

I went to the shop to buy an AMP they given me Ibanez RG 331 M to play and check the amps and when I played that guitar I feels amazing I was stunned by the output of the guitar pick-ups and the Neck of the guitar. That kind of neck I want to play straight low action maple neck. It's sounds good with clean channel on Fender Amps. If I had money I will buy that guitar someday.

I bought the very last one that I could find anywhere. ZZ Sound just happened to have it, it was "blemished" cause the volume knob wouldn't stay on, so they put it back in their warehouse. The volume knob just had to be tighted w/ a small screwdriver like the kind you use for eye glasses, that was it. Got it for 200 USD off just for that. Great deal and very last one that was out there that I could find. It was like meant to be. It is amazing. The Jewel Blue is much nicer in person. Only one I had ever seen before was when I saw Poison in concert back on the Flesh & Blood tour. CC had two JB 570's on that tour. Mine has gone through a little changes since. I've installed a set of Seymour duncan humbuckers on it a Distortion Trembucker and a SH-2 Jazz in the neck. It's incredible. Wish they'd bring them back and in a few more color options like the old days and wish they'd do a 560 as well.
Got a RG550 Genesis in Purple Neon, blown away by it ... had many guitars that cost a lot more but this is about the best bang for buck out there at present, too bad its not hip in today's Fender and Gibson retro world.
They make a white version, seems harder to find though. Sweetwater has the yellow, red, purple neon, they could probably order the white version though.
Not really for me. They'll be sold for £899 in the UK and won't even come with a hard case. Two years ago, you could find new RG655 guitars for £899 and came with a hard case.
That's Brexit for you - the dealers bought RG655s when the pound was worth a pound, and now it's worth a gram. On Thomann, it's 999 Euro vs 1400 Euro. You can still buy a RG652 for 1150 Euro, with a case.
willramirez75 I don’t blame you a bit. The RG550 is a legend. Now with a super wizard neck it’s a huge improvement. I have the RG652AHM I got from Sweetwater and when this babe comes out, I’m fetching it! I still have my RG770 from the late 80’s and love that axe too. They just don’t make them like they use to. It looks like the 550 is coming in around $1K so it’s very affordable. They have the yellow in this too. I’m going for the white one.

Isn't this the Genesis that's available a few years back? This is not new. I have the 550 Genesis in Road Flare Red. They tend to pull 25 year old cnc files when they do these reissues and just change the code of what changed [not add in the angle routed into a modern pocket]. I have to shim the neck because the bottom of the edge bridge is pivoting on the guitar body when pulling up on the whammybar thus causing unnecessary wear on the knife edges. Thank God I found out before some damage is done! The problem is fixed now but Ibanez shouldn't have overlooked this!
Thank you Ibanez , for insuring my 2013 Violet Chameleon RG570 Genesis is still the most beauty and worth of all the Genesis. I had such a boner for it when I saw it... Your Japan-Only release, now lives in Canada. Such a beauty, I never play it for fear of a scratch.... So I play my RG3770FZ instead. Seriously. LOL.
Why not update these with Stainless Steel frets, the lo-pro edge, locking keys from Gotoh, and the KTS titanium neck stabilizer rods? It would provide the best of both words, a modern update to a timeless classic, still looks exactly the same, but with modern features and player comfort in mind! I don't know anyone who actually prefers an edge to a lo-pro, I really don't lol...Although I suppose you could just buy a lo-pro yourself and put it in there, and pay like 300-500 bucks to get stainless frets installed, another 100 for locking Gotoh tuners. On top of an already pretty expensive guitar tho? No thanks.
Don't need locking tuners on a Floyd. This has normal gotoh tuners, which are Rock solid. Many many people prefer the edge to the lopro. The edge flutters for a lot longer and smoother than the lopro.
@@siddharthsharma8940 i think personally the Edge is the best trem ever created.... flutters all day long you can just hit the trem w/ hand and it'll flutter.. :) there's a reason why just about every player back in the late 80's played these.
So far that I can find one of the least expensive guitars made in Japan. 5 piece maple/walnut neck, gotoh tuners, the original Edge (probably best made trem ever created), and the pups aren't that bad either. you don't need locking tuners w/ a double locking trem system. The originals back in the late 80s sold for 700-900 each. If you look that up in an inflation calculator you'd see that if they kept the original pricing.. these would be running 1600-1800 each.. so these are extremely under priced...
They're not "cheap" pickups. The V7/V8 are Ibanez's most revered set of OEM pups. You can equate them to a set of Gibson '57 classics. Perfectly useable as-is.
that's an easy upgrade. Mine now has a set of Seymour Duncan hums and I like these middle single coils that Ibanez uses. Very "twangy" kinda strat sounding or Paul Gilbert sounding.
These are ok. I put in a set of Seymour Duncan humbuckers but left the stock middle single coil pup. I do that w/ all my Ibanez HSH guitars. I really like the sound of them very twangy kind of a Paul Gilbert twang to it.
over priced? serious? Japanese made, 5 piece maple/walnut neck, gotoh tuners, the original EDGE trem ( by far one of the best trem's ever created). and the pups aren't bad at all. and for around the "grand" price point. You do realize back in the day these were selling like hot cakes for 700-800 USD right? If you go to an inflation calculator.. that's like 1600-1700 today.. So technically these are way under priced.. And if they came w/ a case and say Dimarzio's or Seymours (which the originals didn't come w/ after market pups either) these would be selling for about 1400. I'd rather buy these for a grand put in my own pups that I choose and buy a case.. which is exactly what I did w/ my Genesis Rg 570.
I just purchased the Genesis RG570 and received it yesterday. It is a horrible guitar. The neck is awesome. The neck joint is so big it is hard to play on the High A and above. Nothing like the originals were. The Floyd rose is the cheapest piece of crap I have ever seen. Mine came in the original box and was never opened. They package these guitars very poorly. The headstock point ramed through the box and chipped the top of the guitar. The Floyd Rose was really high on one side and really low on the other side. After seeing this I just packaged it back in the box and am taking it back to the store on Monday. I am so disappointed. I had a 2000 RG570 and it was an Awesome guitar. This new crap isn't worth $200. Oh, and on the box, it says "Prestige". What a joke. The fret ends are not Prestige treated but they were not sharp either. The only flaw I saw was the chip out of the headstock and the Floyd Rose problem. I didn't check the frets to see if there were any high frets. When I saw the guitar was damaged because of "FedEx" mishandling it, and the Floyd rose way out of alignment, I stopped and packed it up. I would NOT recommend getting this guitar. Even if the Floyd Rose was in perfect position, I doubt it would last more than 6 months before you would have to replace it. Ibanez has really lost their edge when it comes to making guitars. Oh, and this guitar was made in Japan. What a letdown. I had purchased an RG920 Premium, red in 2015. The frets were all out of whack. I called Ibanez and they said they would fix the problem for free but it would take anywhere from 3 to 6 months. So I paid $85 to have it setup and the first tech never told me the frets were screwed up. So I paid a professional $150 to level the frets and make it play properly. After a week the last 3 frets started to raise up and notes there started to fret out. Wasn't a very well built guitar. At least the Floyd rose was solid. I'm done with Ibanez. I'll never purchase anything from them again. Just my story :)
where did you get yours from? Cause i got the 570 and it's killer. The tilted neck joint is perfectly fine. The Edge trem is the best trem ever created. and mine came double boxed w/ tons of packing paper, bubble wrap etc. So whoever you bought it from must have opened it and messed w/ it so it probably needs a proper set up. Mine came perfect and was even in tune.
@Luke Nah.. sound sto me like that Lex dude is trolling. Cause I have yet met a Genesis with anything remotely close to all the problems he's listed. The original Edge is probably hands down the top two trems' ever created bar none.. I have played them all from cheapy Chinese, to outsourced lic. floyds to original German made floyds, schallers, Japanese Gotohs and pretty much every locking trem Ibanez has to offer as well. And I stand by it. The tilted neckjoint is just fine. Not constrictive in anyway and if it is, they're playing it wrong. The original Block on the Original Rg's I compared and they're pretty much the same. Unless he's talking about the 90's version that came w/ the AANJ which was introduced in 94'. And if that's the case then he's not comparing it to an original RG 550. Anyway..I think some people will always find something to complain about. I'm glad he feels he lost a grand on his 550. Good for him.. :)
