I was a young and foolish and in 1993 bought a 1967 Cardinal. Early Cardinals had a problem where the stabilator stalled on landing resulting in a hard nose first landing which frequently resulted in a hard nose landing and cracked firewall. This resulted in a major repair at Frederick MD; I was based at Danbury CT and got ride to MD. The shop owner recommended that I take the plane up for a few laps around the pattern. I declined, my pilot buddy and I filed our IFR flight plan and promptly departed for KDXR. I’m much older and wiser now😊.
