    i was just a 2 year old boy who was glued to the show....the sound effects were the best and the plot lines were great:

    Lost in Space was my favorite show when I was 5 and it first came out. It remains a favorite to this day (I'm 63 now.) Though the capsule shown at 1:08 that contained the dog has no visible markings, my personal theory is that it was a test ship of Soviet origin, as it has a vaguely Russian look to it, and the Soviets had a habit of using dogs as flight test subjects.

    1:57 As a child - and NOW: The Magic Mirror is my favorite black & white episode. If you notice - a LOT of Lost in Space "alien relic" props look Egyptian : well that's because 20th Century Fox had TONS of leftover props from "Cleopatara" (1963) . LOL. Imagine how FUN it must have been to walk around a HUGE prop room or stage and just pick stuff out to decorate the set with !?

    The music made the series transcendent.

    I'd never appreciated just how massive those sound stages were! It's like what you'd expect to see on a movie set rather than a television production.

    Very well done. Huge fan. I couldn’t get over the lasers. The black were a little clunky, then the sleek silver. My buddy and I drew them for hours. Thx for the insight of the stage 6.

    Well done and I just took that incredible music of John Williams for granted when I was a kid...Little did I know that whenever I hear it now I instantly go back in time to a comforting childhood memory called Lost In Space.

    The bonus here is you get clean (and free) background music with no sound effects or dialogue. Sweet!

    One of Our Dogs is Missing broadcast on Dec. 8, 1965, and I saw it at age 9--let me tell that this was really intense at that age. The production values were unbelievable what with the disassembly guns and director Sutton Roley's use of extreme close ups and overhead crane shots. Better than most feature films and it still stands up. Seriously, check this one out again and, if anybody can, find out why, at the end, John fires three additional times at the monster but they didn't color in the laser effect? Was this one already too far over on the violence scale?

    • @gc4644
      @gc4644 Před 6 lety +2

      Mark W , on another site, i read the reason they didnt include the laser animation in that episode was because of time. They were already behind schedule and simply didnt have the time for the animation and post-editing pieces to happen. So Erwin basically said " Cut, Print, Release it".

    • @mrbrucewayne631
      @mrbrucewayne631 Před rokem +1

      if you remember, the monster climbed back into the pitt...but was not killed....they did not need the laser effects. the monster attack was thwarted and the show went onward...

    I saw Dogs last night on Blu-ray; they did a great job making the planet set look expansive. I naively thought a lot of planet scenes were filmed exterior. You can always see the corner of the set in the background though, at least on Blu. They should of placed rounded backdrops on the corner - but maybe it didn't matter for TV broadcast.
    On another note I like the CGI cast you put together but Mark Goddard should have Jonathan Harris in a headlock.

    At 1.59 I have always loved that musical the mystery tune I call it. It's in many shows the keeper and others. Anyway I am well off and I am thinking about making a remake of lost in space. I would need to find the right cast. And I want amateurs why because my movie would be shot in b.w. and sometimes no lines just real talk in dangerous scenes. I no how to flim it. Thanks stay tuned.
