  • There can be many reasons why your stamper isn't picking up or transferring polish properly. I show in this video the most common reasons behind it.

Thank you for these tips! Here's another tip for anyone still struggling. When I started stamping, I couldn't pick up an image to save my life! Blue film was off, I was sure I was woking very fast, I tried different scraping directions, rolling vs straight up and down techniques with the stamper, primed the stamper, and tried all different amounts of pressure. Nothing worked! As a last resort, I tried priming my plates! I figured the blue film could be leaving a residue. I used dish soap and a nylon bristled scrub brush and went over the plates for a few seconds each, then rinsed and dried them very well. Shockingly, I could pick up an image the first time and every time after that! Now it's the first thing I do with all my plates. I've never had any damage or scratching from the nylon brush. You only have to do it once if you're struggling to pick up an image. Just clean the polish off the plate with acetone after that. Hope this helps someone else!

Very good. I would recommend this video to any beginner.
I would mention that the reason there are the stiffer non-squishy heads is that you want them when trying to transfer straight lines. Soft, squishy heads can cause curves. There's a reason for every tool, it all depends on what you need.

You don't have to use stamping polish. Have you tried different brands and colors of regular polish? If so, it's probably more likely a different reason. Although it doesn't hurt to try a stamping polish just in case. I've had success with Born Pretty and Nicole Diary from Amazon.

Hi, i am just starting to stamp, but at my first try i experienced similiar problems. I use regular polish to stamp too. 1. You need to make sure you have proper amount of polish on your plate. I prefer to paint over whole design and then lightly scrape the excess. If i use to little polish the design isn't filled properly. 2. You need to work really quick. Use the stamper right after you scrape the excess, don't bother with cleaning the scraper od doing something else. There is no time. Once the design is on the stamper you have some time to aim and put it on your nail. 3. It can take a while to practice the method so take it easy and good luck :3 At my first try i tried 3 different polishes (2 metalics and one creme), two designs and one stamper. It took about 2h, and i managed only to make a nice design on two of my nails. One nail polish didnt work, and one is a bit see through. Also i tried priming the stamper, but i am not sure if that helped, i think the problem was with my method. Also prepare a lot of acetone and cotton to clean in beetween. Also the good idea is to put paper towels on your working surface. Good luck :3
