That task was just unbelievable for just multiple surreal failures. Paul produces one of the worst TV ads of the series. Saira produces one of the worst posters of the series. Both of them must have been delighted at the moment that Rachel started pulling her shoes off, as only a disaster of that magnitude was going to save them.
There was actually a case for a triple firing or Saira going. At least Paul and Rachel had seen things through to completion - Saira just handed over what was meant to be her work to "Mac Man". Plus she tried to make Paul look like a liar in the boardroom by falsely denying they'd shaken hands after a previous argument. When you try to throw somebody under the bus you deserve it to hit you instead!
Who else was cringing when Rachel was doing her presentation? "How does that music make you feel?" Erm after watching you dance like that-like I wanna top myself lol 😂
For everyone saying it's the graphic designers fault, on this show they're not allowed to interject or change anything the team decides. In later series' you see how they don't even mess around with fonts or colours without being told so by the team members. Maybe Saira thought the 'Mac Man' would exercise some creative license but not on this show. It's one of the things that makes their two day task so hard; no creative help. So they weren't being bad at their jobs just heavily restricted by the guidelines given by both the show and the team members. Although I like to think that in the future series' all 3 would have been fired for sure hehe
I always chuckle when he says 'like I'm sitting watching a 1970s sitcom' and she jumps in with 'that's absolutely right it makes you feel upbeat and happy' .... I didn't hear anyone say that
That poster looks like it was made by someone in secondary school last minute for RE homework (or some other stupid lesson) that you did in the computer room during break after your friend asked “did you do the homework” and then you don’t have time to print it so you go to the lesson and ask the teacher “Can I go print my homework out” pretending that you haven’t just finished the homework two minutes earlier and the teacher is like “go on then” and you take your time going to the library printer because it’s a boring lesson and you just want to pass the time and then you give it to the teacher and you pretend that it’s not a piece of shit and then she praises it and you feel relieved that she didn’t notice you did it last minute but also kinda feel offended because she didn’t praise the homework from the week before that you actually put effort into.
+Niscenti +IamJacksColon4 But if he has no direction and doesn't really know what to do. He can only create something with what he has got. If she would have stayed with him. She would have directed him to produce something much better.
I actually have her job. I usually go through multiple edits try multiple fonts. Even with a time constraint. It's her fault. Most designers need lots of direction.
FYI designers can only work to the brief given by the client. If they are given a couple of images and are told to throw in a header and some sub copy in bold blue text, they'll do it. There's a great reddit thread for this. From personal experience, a design brief for a single poster should normally be around 2 meetings witht the client, multiple internals, plus the briefing doc supplied to them will be anywhere from 10-20 pages. All my brethern in agency design know what I'm saying. Shit info, gets you shit results, its not his job to ideate the campaign for them and produce it, just to recreate what they ask him to.
Alan Sugar: “Who was sitting next to the mac man when this happened?” Saira: “I, I, I... I was... that was... that was my task Sir Alan.” Saira was SHITTING herself 😂😂😂😂😂
What pisses me off about this is the idea, encouraged by the show, that a no-nothing boss has much effect on the quality of a graphic design job or any other that involves hard skills. The biggest contributor to a project is often not its manager.
They're set up to fail, its easy to laugh at how bad it is but when its thrown at you and you have to come up with something most people wouldn't do much better.
True, but these people think they're the smarted/best in the business world. They think they're geniuses. Most people me know they are terrible. These people are delusional.
I feel like Paul is about to come through the screen. His look to the camera at 3:34 and his look of absolute depression at 6:10 are priceless. Difficult to watch Rachael's dancing.
That poster was a set-up by the production team. Any graphics user over 10yrs of age could place a wordart title on a word doc and import an image. That's all that 'poster' was. But Sugars response [04:25] was priceless "You shoulda been stuck to the Macman like shit on a blanket" ;-) Even Margret was laughing! Did this go out on Beeb 1 in primetime?
So, Paul's theme for advertising the stereo was... some middle-aged woman sitting around drinking champagne? Yep, that sure screams "quality sound system" to me!
When Manny was presenting, and he said "Im very passionate about this cause", the look on Paul's face at 9:29 was priceless as well. It was like him saying "WTF are you talking about?! Get the FUCK outta here!" LMAO
I just noticed something about the advert after all this time , the sons music was so loud it bothered his mum downstairs YET he was putting headphones back on ???? lol
