WOW! 45 yr friendship, a true friend indeed! Are his works on display for the public? Great chat with a great friend on some amazing works! I bet the two of you sat in the shop or on the porch having some sweet tea making this. Thanks Ron 👍
It's been a wonderful friendship. We were in the same area when we met, but Mike moved 3 hours north about 40 years ago. Even though we don't get together as often as we once did, the friendship has remained strong. It was a joy to work with Mike on this video!

I have seen his Turbo Sculpture up close at cycle city in Honolulu
Very cool! I saw it years ago, and at that time it was in a glass case in a big shopping center somewhere in Hawaii. Having it in a motorcycle shop will be much more fitting, and I hope they were able to remove it from the case. That really made it difficult to see the allover shape, and closely examine the details.

I agree that there is a lot of 'life' in Cooper's work, and he does share some of the complexity of H.R. Giger (but not the creepy elements).

0.27 - haven't I seen that one in Easyriders or something like that 1000 years ago? 100% sure I've seen it somewhere. I wish I had understood, that you could actually make a living (some even a very good one) by being an artist as a kid.. I was (am) really good at "anything hands" but have been unlucky with parents and in "the mentor department", so I'm pretty fookin' fooked in the life department.. I looved this one, and had access to all kinds of tools back then, so I could have made some impressive and interesting stuff, if I had seen it as anything but waste of time.. Bad parenting is a crime.!
For what it's worth, my parents didn't give me much encouragement to pursue my interests, but I eventually found my way, and things have turned out pretty well for me. None of us can go back in time, but you can make decisions today that you will benefit from for the rest of your life.
@@RonCovell I agree - but I am guessing, that they didn't ruin "everything" you tried to do for you either. If you know anything about narcissists, then you will have an idea of, what I was up against. For those who might find the subject interesting, I suggest a video like "Why your family hates you." with Richard Grannon. He also has a few about "Golden child scape goat parents" - where one child can do no wrong, and one can do nothing right or good enough. It's not normal to consider getting your father "offed", when you are 16 - I did.. I knew, that no matter where I ran to, he would find me, and the punnishment would be hard. You don't survive a childhood like that without scares. You can do "everything" right, and still be unlucky - just like we all know, "Luck is when good preparation lies ahead of a good chance" - the opposite also exists: "bad luck is, when good preparation lies ahead of a drunk cage driver in front of your bike.". last but not least - we also know, that networking is a very important part of life, and usually also of business. "Nobody" wants to work with low status people, so it's very very hard to work your way out of the hole, no matter how you ended there. Besides that I'll suggest Jordan Peterson's "Are you depressed? Or low in the dominence hierachy" (very short video) and also the video where he speaks with some guy named Darumple or something like that, called: "Life at the bottom". I'm not jealous of those with succes - but I do envy many of them. Succes very rarely comes from not working hard, but failure can coke from one piece o0f bad luck. As the sayings go: "No winner belives in coincedences." and "All failures are orphants." IF anyone is interested in seeing, if I'm full of crap or not, a bit of my art can bee seen on FB, where my (crappy - needs updating, but I've got lots of other things to use my money on, before I buy a new smart phone to take pics) artist name is Børge ODK.
