The ''FROMSOFTWARE SPECIAL™'' Nobody Seems to Mention

It's crystal clear that FROMSOFT loves to find ways to add some of their characters, weapons, and overall ideas to as many of their games as possible.
I think we all know some of the big ones like Patches, the Moonlight Greatsword, Poison Swamps, or if you're an AC fan, you're also aware of the importance behind Number 9. That said, I feel like there's one that's being underappreciated. Probably because its relatively new (only 3 entries so far, as far as I know), but I hope one day more and more people are going to recognize the ''Bloody Katana'' as something that's a part of the ''FROMSOFTWARE easter eggs/specials''.

Well, the chikage itself is an evolution of a fromsoft staple since demon's souls. It's a cursed katana in the same manner as the Makoto and the chaos blades.

Makoto only made you lose your vitality instead of having an added range/blood splatter to it, no? Hence why I didn't consider it to be the first of that Katana-type, but I could be remembering it wrong

Indeed! Well, the Chikage itself is of course very specific, but the presence of edgy self-harm Katanas can be traced back all the way to Demon Souls. Out of the 3 in the game, 2 of them damaged you in some way - on by just holding it, the other when you successfully hit enemies. And DS3 very much had similar weapons, namely the Chaos blade and most closely - the Bloodlust

You're correct! Admittedly I forgot about Makoto completely when making this, if I recall correctly, as for the reason I didn't think of introducing Bloodlust is because it didn't have cool blood slashy slashy D: but yeah, it's very close thematically, you're absolutely right

@@fermyonds I think it just comes down to how specific you have to be with the archetype. Bloodborne's weapon roster is quite unique by nature, and bringing the whole concept to another game would be challenging, but you can certainly see the broader weapon classification elsewhere in the souls series
