- You don't need all the bells and whistles -- You just need big bonk (or cool weeb sword).
Anyhow -- I wanna specify again, if you want me to do this type of run but just focusing on one weapon, please do let me know -- I thought it'd be fun to go for 3 at a time, but I'll happily do runs focused on just one weapon / run.
That said, I still hope this was somewhat entertaining!!

Hello people, sorry about the lack of intro. It got claimed due to a song that I ended up using (it passed the filter when it was originally uploaded, so I thought it'd be okay to keep it) so I had to unfortunately cut that out.
Just for clarity sake -- the goal of this challenge was to see how quickly I can acquire these 3 weapons in each game.
I'm really sorry and I'll be more careful next time -- still, I hope it was enjoyable even without the intro section.
I ended up making a small playlist of the runs I've done up until this point. There's a few more I wanna do badly (in specific, one that I believe is gonna be very silly) -- if there's anything you would be particularly interested in, please, do let me know and I'll try to make time for it!

i genuinely thought it was an intentional bit lmao
I'd love to see a "build" speedrun. Something like "Which soulsborne protagonist can get to a full meme build first?"
Something like Giantdad for DS1, or RoB with white mask for Elden Ring. Not necessarily these exact builds, but it'd be neat to see which game lets you get a "complete" build the fastest.
Full Rogier's with Moonveil is the meme build tbh
DS2 has to be Dark Infused Dark Weapon Buffed Chaos Blade. Or the Super Magic Ice Rapier.
If going tryhard meta build it will be something like Havel with smelter demon helm Or jester set Then hexes and santiers spear for DS2.
Another run would be speedrun getting full item grind set.
These are all fantastic ideas and I'm very grateful for each and every single one of them -- I don't necessarily know when I'd be ready with something like this (I believe it might take a while more to get all the specific items) but I'll certainly be putting these on my list. Thanks a bunch again!
my algorithm knows me so well, it recommended this video to me 19 minutes after it was posted. keep up the entertaining work, man!
I genuinely have no clue how the algorithm works, but as long as you had a good time watching this, nothing else matters, right?
Anyway, thank you very much -- I still got plenty of things I wanna fool around with in souls! Lotsa stuff left to do x)
I'm a simple man, i see a video that stars the zweihander? I arrive
You're always welcome here!! Happy to see others who enjoy that lovely weapon :D
Love these and you deserve more views!
Thank you so much -- and honestly, I'm just happy I get to interact with people thanks to soulsborne & these videos -- it's a genuinely amazing experience being able to talk about hobbies like this.
Speaking of hobbies, your username is such a throwback, Bakugan was awesome
This channel has to take off at some point, your content is great and your speed run ideas are fresh and fun, definitely subbing
Thank you very much, means a lot to me -- and honestly, to me, it already feels like one big party. It's great being able to interact with so many people x)
For the DS2 route i suspect you could go faster. It's not guaranteed but the small spiders in britghstone cove tseldora can drop the zweihander. As you're already going to the shaded woods during your run, you'd simply have to kill najka -> run through the doors of pharros -> get rid of congregation -> farm the spiders in the lower part of the cove (at the bonfire next to ornifex) till they drop the zwei. If you're lucky enough you could even get a drop from the cluster of spiders right before congregation. That seems shorter than having to clear 3 entire areas (copse + valley + peak) and run through iron keep.
And the Syan Knight near the Gutter can drop the Greatsword too.
Omg I forgot all about those spiders!! I remember seeing them drop some other weapons too if I'm not mistaken.. you know what, this weekend I'll prolly try experimenting with this because I'm very curious how quickly I could get it.
Also @asdergold1 you're right too, I forgot about them but yeah, great point -- I gotta try farming the Syan Knight too. Man, I love DS2 -- so many cool ways to obtain additional stuff, just from random mob drops? Hell yeah
@@fermyonds The tiny gremlin things in Aldia's can also drop things like all the BK weapons, Crescent Axe and Drakekeeper stuff. Had one drop the Drakekeeper Axe on me.
Lmao one just dropped Affinity.
They also drop hexs like affinity and some spells as well
Awesome vid!
Thank you for your kind words, it means a lot!
I like the multiple weapons/goals for each run you do. Maybe they don't all have to be weapons to make it more interesting, but this was fun
Oh yes you're certainly right about that, I don't want it to ever feel.. stale, if that makes sense. Currently working on something that I think will be unique (and somewhat unexpected, hopefully)
I loved the Akihiko quote. Caught me off guard. Nice one
I'm glad it worked! I plan to sprinkle more lil' references like that in the near future
You know the deal. You make a video, I watch it and like it
And I'm ever grateful for that -- thanks a lot, I can't say this enough. It means a lot to me
Great vid bro. I had a speedrun idea, do think about it. How long to collect each weapon class (atleast one weapon of each class in the game)
Not sure how it will work in bloodborne, but u can maybe divide based on the scaling, i.e. a skill weapon, a strength weapon, a bloodtinge weapon and an arcane weapon.
You could also just leave it out on the speedrunn given it doesn't exactly have weapon classes.
That sounds like a lot of fun, would take a while in Elden Ring but I'm all for it. I'll have to make time for this at some point!
That said, thank you very much for your nice words too!
For your reference - you can actually jump straight to the Zweihander in DS2 without taking down the bridge. The jump is a bit more tricky, but it saves lowering the bridge and fighting like 7 alone knights :P
I still haven't managed to do that jump reliably, but you're right, it definitely saves at least a few minutes worth of time
@@fermyonds yeah, it's Hella sketchy haha
It's all in the approach angle from what I recall. It was funny to troll my friends with when I realised it was possible
10:28 Funnily enough, you can just not go to Huntsman’s Copse, Harvest Valley, Earthen Peak and Iron Keep. Instead, you can just go to Shaded Woods (where you can alternatively buy the greatsword from Vengarl) and kill Scorpioness Najka, continue through Doors of Pharros, to Brightstone Cove Tseldora and kill Prowling Magus & Congregation and finally jump down to where the third bonfire is and farm the spiders there for the zweihander (which they drop quite often).
I forgot about the wack drop table those guys have! I wasn't sure how consistently they drop it but I'll have to try
Fermyon content let's go!
Sorry this one took a while longer to get out but I hope the wait paid off! Already started working on something else which (I hope) will be even better!
that said, thank you sincerely for your support!
Best weapon speedrun next?
Like black knights halberd for ds1 or pizza cutter for bloodborne
Currently working on a Guts special (both weapon + armours) and sadly it is taking longer than I'd like to admit, but I'll do this as well -- so, thank you for the idea!! x)
You can actually get the Zweihander rarely from spiders in DS2
I forgot those guys can drop it alongside a few other things. Thats my bad. I'll try farming them to see how reliably I could get it since I am curious now
Which Fermyon video can you smash the like button on the fastest?
None of them, obviously -- Just joking x) In all seriousness, thanks a lot for your nice words. It means a lot to me
you can actually get the ds1 greatsword as a rare drop from the knight guarding the firekeeper's soul in undead parish. this happened to me on my current playthrough, which sucks because its one of the few times i'm not doing a strength build lmao.
Dude that's exactly my kind of luck too -- I never got it but I saw some people get lucky enough to get it from there which is nuts. I've rotten luck with DS1 weapon drops. I farmed the Channelers for hours and I still didn't get the trident x))
You can get actuall the zweihander from the spiders in brightstone coave
Where at in da cove??
I actually forgot about them dropping that, so thats my bad. Not sure how reliable it is but I wanna try farming then for fun to see how long it'd take
@fermyonds yea, actually, a guy named yazmania or something did a hex run and got it pretty early in his run
Finally zweihander
Sorry it's taken so long!! Hope that's okay x)
A SOULS PLAYER THAT ALSO ONOWS PERSONA? LETS FUCKING GOOOO.
Good content bro, easy subscribe.
Persona's great man! Admittedly I only have experience with 3, 4 and 5 but at some point I will have to emulate / find a way to play 1/2 as well. But yeah, P4G is one of my favourite games of all time x)
Video idea: how long does it take to get each tail weapon in dark souls 1
Timers starts after obtaining the previous tail weapon and ends once you obtain the current one in order
That sounds like a lot of fun -- I'll have to do that at some point, so, thank you for the idea!
Also, very happy to see you again! Hope you've been well as of late
can you do the bastard sword next? always kinda preferred that over the claymore
I want to do it eventually, yes! Currently finishing up something silly and then got a Guts style run I've also been working on for almost a month now, but Bastard Sword's on the list too
@@fermyonds sweet, can't wait to see it!
Berenik knight ir what its name, the knight with tower shield and mace in church under the bell gargoyles can drop greatsword
Oh yeah I forgot all about that! I never had it drop but I've seen some people who got theirs from there. Makes me envious tbh x))
All the r/shittudarksouls memes in the vid are wild
Gotta spread the brainrot somehow, right?
There's a surprising amount of overlap between Dark Souls fans and MegaTen/Persona fans. But I'm not sure how to even compare them because Souls is so much more popular
... is it?
even with the series becoming more mainstream, i'd still say the souls series is still fairly niche in the grand scheme of things. which _would_ position it similarly to megaten, and for similar reasons, when talking about most of the franchise ... but the moment you bring _persona_ into the picture? yeah uh, i think you might be underestimating the popularity of one of _the_ most mainstream jrpg series, especially in the west where dragon quest doesn't permanently occupy most of the market share
the closest thing i can think of for what you might be referencing is the _infamy_ of the respective series' difficulty, since the souls series has absolutely overtaken megaten in that part of the public consciousness, by a goddamn country mile
@@hi-i-am-atan Elden Ring alone has sold more than the entire Persona series
@@ExpandDong420 i doubt that, but i can't properly dispute it because the elden ring sales numbers we have are significantly outdated and i only know how to find the sales numbers of the persona _games_
that's the thing. for as major of a release elden ring is, it's still only just a game. i've seen some merch for it and there's that one gag manga, but there really ain't much beyond the game and that is _significantly_ more than what the rest of the series has. this puts it at a rather constrained position in comparison to persona, which is far more than just a bunch of video games. it's so much more that there are a significant portion of persona fans that have _never played any of the games,_ instead falling in love with the series solely through its multiple anime and manga, music, cameos in other franchises ( smash _especially_ ), and even just fanworks. and that's not accounting for the cultural bleed-in from being a megaten franchise, because while it's no pokemon, you really shouldn't underestimate the sheer appeal of blorbos like jack frost
it's not really a fair comparison to begin with, if i'm being honest. the souls series just ain't set up to fuel normal fanbase stuff. the most beloved character in the franchise is, without a doubt, ranni, and she has like ... two? three? really good character moments and just kinda spends the rest of her time sitting on her bum. other than patches ( y'know, the guy precision-made to create a love-hate relationship with the player _and_ massively cheats by being a recurring character in a series that doesn't really do that ) that's still well beyond what most souls series characters can expect, and when it comes to the worlds? i mean, the plot of these games is always "this place majorly sucks, go die a lot to maybe do something about it." there's always the deeply interesting lore, but the inaccessibility and ambiguity of it limits how easily fans can gather around it, to say nothing about what it does to the difficulty of _expanding_ upon it
meanwhile, i literally do not have to say a single goddamn thing about persona to make a case for it being the exact opposite. you take one look at its settings, its characters, its emphasis on _exploring_ those characters at the player's discretion, and it all looks _tailor made_ to become a wildly popular franchise when put next to the souls series. it is night and day, those two
like to just drop some kind of metric i can easily check, elden ring and dark souls combined have 9.1k illustrations posted on danbooru, with 1.6k coming from ranni alone. persona has 9.6k ... from _5 alone,_ reaching a whopping 29k for the entire franchise. and i can guarantee you that trend absolutely stays true if you look at other fan art repositories, as well as fan fiction and music. hell, i would be anything but surprised if fan art is an area where persona _slacks_ in comparison to the souls series, because character designs are one of the souls series' biggest strengths. so, uh, yeah that 9.1k vs 29k example is a demonstration of where the souls series stands in popularity when it's firing on all cylinders
the long and short of all this is that sales numbers are a pretty deceptive metric when it comes to stuff like this. what you're actually trying to measure here is the social presence of the series across a wide range of social groups, and relying just on the number of copies moved is a naive approach that should immediately show its flaws as soon as i say _touhou_
@hi-i-am-atan except all the merchandise is for people who played the games in the first place and outdated numbers only widen the gap in Elden Ring's favor (which doesn't really factor in because it was updated last month according to Wikipedia)
I'm honestly not sure how big the overlap is but I guess at the end of the day, both games come from a Japanese studio, so it's not really surprising
Either way, both are fantastic genres
