- As the first "blonde bombshell," Mae West reigned supreme and changed the nation's view of women, sex and race- on stage, in films, on radio and television. Including clips from Night After Night, She Done Him Wrong, I'm No Angel, Belle of the Nineties, and Klondike Annie. In addition to home movies and archival footage, Anthony Quinn, Rex Reed and Robert Wise provide interviews.

For nearly a century, Hollywood has captivated and influenced generation after generation of moviegoers. Its magic has left an indelible imprint on every culture with a movie projector. Originally broadcast on PBS, HBO/Cinemax, TNT, A&E, Lifetime, and Bravo, this is one of the most comprehensive collections of biographies and cinema retrospectives ever compiled, a spectacular treasury of 32 revealing biographies of Hollywood’s most beloved stars. These biographies, some narrated by the stars themselves, include interviews with friends, family members and colleagues, as well as clips from their most memorable films, and in some cases, rare home movies.
“Over 350 actors, writers, directors, producers, make-up people, publicists, agents, and family members all gave of themselves to help make these shows possible. This was the way it was in Hollywood in its classic era and these were the stars that captured us.” - Gene Feldman, producer/director of The Hollywood Collection.

She didn't care what anyone thought! She was herself and nobody on Earth dictated her life and career!
Mae West was a woman that was strong funny & never let anyone walk over her. I absolutely love her style. the Victorian style hair with the big hats n Gorgeous gowns. always beautiful n stunning. forever graceful.

Fantastic tribute to the great Diva. She was a great comedienne!!!

Mae was born a Mary not a Larry.
Mae West was a very unique actress! Very beautiful and very talented🎉her voice, the way she talked and dressed! Phenomenal!🎉❤
The one and only such a legend there will never be another
The queen Mae West, lives forever. I still quote her nearly daily even for my generation for people in their 30's. #ForeverMae ❤️ Love your Channel btw! 🤗❤️
I sincerely and truly enjoyed this, well done. She surely was a very unique and talented human being. Without a doubt know one can undeniably not respect this woman. She was an incredible Multi talented actress. I am sure she's giving the angels above a run for their money😉 or in her case diamonds💎
So Beautiful the Gorgeous and exciting Mae West ❤️❤️❤️ A True Star ⭐️ Bless Her Heart xxx
Also besides being very funny and charismatic she was already in her early forties when she was at the height of her career, some people you find it impossible at that time to be that age (40) and a leading lady in Hollywood. That’s pretty amazing of her.
Her figure was the inspiration of Scaparellis cologne "Shocking" perfume bottle. I had some in the '50s.
And Jean Paul Gaultier copied it for his now iconic perfumes loved to this day
I'm sure Mae West got to see Janet Jackson do an impression of her on the TV show Good Times and The Jackson's family TV show. Mae was a true original.
Mae West told it how it was sure wish she was around nowadays 🙁
It’s not the men in her life,
But the life in her men!!!
Mae West said she saw Grant crossing the street when she was looking out the window and looking at potential leading men at the studio. She asked the talent director who he was, not getting in her car.
Some of the comments are really vicious, those making these sniping comments achieved nothing in comparison to her. Fabulous and witty even at 85, growing old is not a sin, best way to do it is the way she did it. Some of these men just do not get it.
I've always admired her and her style!
I beg you, please post anything about Peter Lawford. I think his story is super underrated, more ppl need to know about this tragic death
She had style
Interesting. I remember her famous sayings. I wonder 🤔 where her spirit lies...Good night young lady
Hello dear, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the Virus??

It was NEVER stated or implied anywhere (at all) that West was "playing a character of 28." That is a fabrication in this doc (which I licensed some photos of West for in 1993). A shame it started the rumor, because it only adds to the wild embellishments most of these hams came up with in the film.
I just start learning about her and I am fairly conservative but I love her. I wish she was my friend:)
LOVE 💕. 💖. YOU. FOR. EVER. MY. HEART 💗🩰. SOUL. GOES. OUT. TO. YOU
A TRUE LIVING LEGAND
A round circular bed? As opposed to a round square one?

Wow he got that Cary Grant story completely wrong
Exactly!! She told a different story during her Dick Cavett interview, which is available on CZcams.
No one like her to day
Sadly.they always attempt to rewrite history. Cary Crant starred with Marlene Dietrich the same
Way too unsympathetic.
Male
She was rather homely looking😃
You will burn in hell for that one.
She wasn’t attractive but her personality and attitude and fashion made her attractive
I didn't realize til recently that she may have been a man in reality
INCREDIBLE. EXQUISITE. BEAUTIFUL BEAUTY ETERNALLY LIFE WONDERFUL EXQUISITE
She was "One if a kind!!!!".
That dude is fkn SICK!!
Mae West wasn't even in the same State, let alone the same ballpark as Raquel Welche. Raquel was one SMOKIN HOT 🔥 Woman with class that didn't walk around with a silly childish annoying voice
She was a no-talent who starred in B pictures her entire life. Mae West was an American institution. It was almost embarrassing to see Welch's film credits when she passed away.
