I’ve used an iPad Pro as a laptop replacement for more than 5 years. Completed more than 50% of my master’s degree with one. Can’t recommend it enough!
I love the portability factor of using an iPad with the Magic Keyboard. I feel way more comfortable using that setup somewhere like a coffee shop where the threat of spills on an actual laptop are high. 🫣
Watching this on my M4 iPad Pro and also did a bunch of gameplay videos on my channel showcasing its power with AAA titles. Needless to say, I’m very happy/impressed with it, the GPU has more teraflops than the Xbox Series S (4.3 vs 4.0 on the XSS), in a tablet that is super thin but sturdy, with processing power that beats the desktop i9 14900k in single core benchmarks, which I find absolutely INSANE.
I like this review! 👍🏾 Got to look at the comparisons again. Thanks!
Excellent review
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you 🙏
I have an ipad 9th gen. Should i go for the 12.9 inch M2 version? Or the 13 inch M4 version, or a macbook air M2/M3 and ipad air M2? My main criteria is studying, being able to access books on large screen and video editing for CZcams. Please guide me!
Here are some thoughts based around personal experience. I can type way faster than I can write, so I lean towards a keyboard for studying. Depending on the school, there can sometimes be portals, etc that have compatibility issues with iPadOS - this might be a big influence on your decision. Reading books is hands down better on an iPad. Video editing is down to personal preference based on which software you want to use. I prefer the file management on a Mac for video editing. So if it's within budget then you could do iPad Air and Macbook Air. You'll have your lowest chance of running into any sort of limits with studying and editing software. Also can't hurt to look at the Apple Refurbished Macs, you might find a Macbook Pro with higher specs than a Macbook Air. Lots to read, hope that helps guide you a bit. :)
2:45 which editing program is that? Final cut pro is probably ideal for ipad use, where as that app looks like you can only use the pencil to perform tasks?
That is CapCut. You can use fingers or pencil. Final Cut is decent, but I’ve found its features (transitions, text animation, captions, etc) to be very outdated compared to CapCut.
Very balanced and fair review 👍 Cheers, Dave.
Thank you 😊
it would be amazing if ipad supported old computer games like modern warfare 2 and 3
I like this video style 🙌🏻
Thank you! ☺️
What is the desktop software you are using at 2:40?
CapCut 👍
The iPad Air is the standout iPad. For you the power of a MacBook Air but at a cheaper price. I’m working on an assumption that most corporate workers are provided with a work laptop and looking for good secondary device for personal use that is not monitored by their employer.
1:21 First time watching you. your style is just brilliant.
What do you mean (at 1:26)by using the camera “unless you’re older” ??
Because only old people hold up giant tablets at weddings and whatnot to take photos. They're unaware of how tacky they look doing it.
@@LuxeFilmography This is news to me, I have never seen “an old person”using a tablet to take photos. I’m 75 and I use my Leica M w/50mm Summicron f/2. Seems like you are making a very broad and rude statement. Hopefully you’ll live to be old.
@@ozziesmom9186 No need to get defensive. I film weddings for a living. When the bride is coming down the center of the aisle, the only thing that blocks the photographer and videographer's view is giant iPads held up by grandparents. I've seen it at big outdoor festivals like 4th of July, as well. It's a pretty common thing most people are familiar with.
Nowhere did anyone say old people can't operate a proper camera, but most people aren't photographers. The young kids use their phones to take photos. The camera on the iPad is essentially worthless for anyone younger.
Hi, as @LuxeFilmography said it is a pretty common sight. Not intending to be rude, just some observational humour. It’s great to hear that you’re out there with a nice camera taking photos! Most of the men in my family live to be over 100, so I’m hoping to live to be old. 😊
I have a 2011 iPad I think it’s time to upgrade
I think it's time to treat yourself. 😊
Hey Jay, a bit off-topic, but what kind of camera are you filming with?
I’m using the Sony ZV-1 mark 2
@@jaydanielstechwhy dont u try to bend your iPad Pro m4 and see if your iPad Pro m4 is really that bendable 😄
@@chrisbrown-lx7qz I needed to return it, but it feels more stiff than the previous gen iPad Pro due to a reinforcement inside.
I think better skip nano version.. better iust pot screen protection
I have M1 iPad Pro and I’m not finding a compelling reason just yet to upgrade. What do you all think?
I think the only compelling reason to upgrade that from that iPad would be if it was broken. 😊
I upgraded because of the screen and whilst I had some initial regrets having used it for a few days I can confirm that it was worth it for the 11 inch. The screen is bunkers good 😊. Everything else is the same me for my use case.
@@jaydanielstechim gonna upgrade my 11 inch iPad Pro M1 to the M4 oled it’s because im gonna give my 11 inch iPad Pro M1 to my 25 year old niece so she can use it fir school
@@chrisbrown-lx7qz That’s a solid upgrade, and I’m sure your niece will appreciate that M1 Pro!
0:42 is a major PAUSE 😂. I like this review tho. Nice style man
👀
I have iPad Air 2 , upgrade to this iPad Pro or buy MacBook Air and iPad Air ?
What are you planning to use it/them for?
@@jaydanielstech iPad for construction work ,to read blueprints and make some changes on pdfs, and draw some projects, MacBook just basic home computer
I would be inclined towards the MacBook Air and iPad Air combo. Apple Care Plus on the iPad, especially if it’s being used in construction sites. 😊
@@jaydanielstech one more thing, Best Buy have an offer for the iPad Pro M4 24 mo w/o interest and for iPad Air and MacBook together just 12 mo w/o interest
Completely agree with you. I've been trying to convince myself that the m4 pro is worth it when in reality whenever I need to get things done I just go and boot up my macbook or mac studio. The ipad pro looks great but there are too many trade-offs for my use case and if I'm completely honest I do all my reading on a Kindle or gaming on a PS5 so... Other than comics and consuming media, there's no way spending more than $599 for an ipad air M2 makes any sense. Re-reading what I just wrote I think even the $399 ipad would actually be the smarter choice 😂.
What about battery then.. that’s so thin
So for video editing is it gonna kill this thing to use it while charging? No fans like the MacBook Pro even though this is more powerful than my old MBP
Battery will be similar to the previous iPad Pro. Apple seems to get a more efficient chip and use it to reduce the size while keeping battery life the same. As for editing I would expect Final Cut to perform the best. I used CapCut for editing on the iPad and it made no significant impact to the battery, so I wouldn’t be worried about its ability to charge while in use as long as you’re using the right charging block (20w or more).
0:43 that’s what she said
New surface lineup.
They look good, and competition is healthy. ☺️
00:38 and 00:43 thats what she said lmao
The iPad ehhh review 😂
🇨🇦🏒🥞👀
"I don't think it's restricted by iPad OS I think it's restricted by being a tablet" 3:54. that my good sir is the best thing I have heard any reviewer say😁. And I love how you say all the things it can't do but still love it as it's just being its own thing. What these reviews don't notice is that when they ask an iPad to be a MacBook the basically asking for Tim Cook to be Steve Jobs, they're not the same person and they can't do each others specialty so they just have to be who they are. Steve Jobs was amazing and everyone would want him to be back but he's gone and Tim Cook wasn't placed there to be a replacement for him.
no. it's restricted by iPad OS esp when it has magic keyboard and mouse and 13" screen.
Very soon the only chip will be the M4, so buying anything less is a waste of money.
You outed yourself as Canadian within 10 seconds of the video 🤦♂️
💁🏻♂️
love ur vids, bro
Thank you!
It’s not worth it !!!! It’s the same as the first iPad Pro……. Just a tiny bit faster…. Can’t do desktop applications on it…. Keep your old iPad !!!! Apple is running out of innovative….
2:00 Very astute and budget wake up for us with impulse control problems 🤪😱🫣: you quoting price as if the 2024 iPad Is the real add-on, not the pencil.
