Gossip girl + pride and prejudice + 50 shades of gray + avatar the last air bender
Ayooo fifty shades guess im watching this then
Any Netflix movie is not the same when the main couple doesn't pretend to be a couple and then fall in love.
Well technically it’s based off a book so they really had no choice but to make the couple end up like that lol
@@katieee9254 It's based off of a series, but mainly Julia Quinn's book _The Duke & I_ .
Reminds me of the movie "to all the boys I've ever loved before"
@semi tropes and clichés can be a bit of hit or miss. All it matters are the execution of it. Did you watch it? I hope you liked it
@semi understandable. Tropes like girl falling for a bad boy is so overused I just drop the entire series without a second thought.
I never thought I would end up binge watching and sleeping late at night because of this show. Worth the watch!!!
I never expected it but same. I just played it and eventually got into it sm that I binged it all.

I love that this show molded three troupes into one couple. Enemies to lovers. Fake dating. And best friend's little sister/brother's best friend. What an amazing job
i stopped thinking this was historically accurate (edit: aside from the actors ofc) when i heard the violin rendition of "thank u, next" in one of the balls. nice touch tho.
yeah i did notice some modern music was sprinkled in the show, but tbh it rubbed me the wrong way. i dont like how they add a modern touch to period shows, it just feels off kilter and makes me unable to take the show seriously.
@@tannle i mean from the costumes, to the cast, and to everything in between, i think it's meant not to be taken seriously. it's a show that's just, a breathe of fresh air and is just entirely there to give entertainment and to appeal to audiences more. i get how how are they supposed to intrigue viewers who value detail such as yourself if they change a ton of things however, they must also attract and appeal to the younger viewers who are all but new to the genre so i think adding these modern songs is a fresh move.
@@heyhobi1506 yeah the show has definitely gone down a bomb with that approach. its just my preference for historically faithful adaptations. that said, i could turn a blind eye to the controversial racial aspect that has been brought up by almost everyone here, but the anachronistic use of contemporary pop culture is just... odd
Should’ve had the Lion sleeps tonight instead.
The also did "girls like you"
I like the way that most of the music played in the show are modern songs simply played on classical instruments. It was a nice touch.
Literally they played bad guy
Even classical pieces are not timely accurate. They played Shostakovich waltz which is early 20 century
@@user-pb1lk3rp5g This whole series is a dumpster fire of propaganda and unoriginal music. But as long as you understand the person producing it is named “Shonda” it all starts to make sense why
Haha, I don't know why they bothered (with classical instruments). They should've stayed true to their daft agenda and used hip hop throughout.

I can't believe that the music is so good....modern songs with classic instruments and what a brain to put the titles of the songs as a dialogue before the song starts....I really loved it!

Very much agree
Lol black guy
Well, it *is* fiction, so there's no reason not to take a few historical liberties. But I have to admit I was disappointed to find Lady Danbury rewritten as just a slightly more firm arbiter of the ton, rather than the audience's favorite cantankerous old biddy, terrifying the young bucks of the ton with her straightforward speech, refusal to suffer fools, and threatening their shins with her cane if they start being too ridiculous in her presence.

It wasn’t until I watched the show that I realized how beautiful the main character really is she looks like an actual angel
Hi Mariah, this movie was super interesting. The chemistry between they was great… how are you and your family doing today?
i laughed so hard in a scene in which Daphne gracefully fan herself while walking down the stairs. if i am that pretty and considered to be the most beautiful in town, Id do that too without making myself a fool. like how Daphne has the right to that cause shes so pretty. 😂
I loved every minute, every second, every hour. Eagerly waiting for season 2 😆😆😆
Me too girl! I watched the whole season in 1 day
+1.😃❤️
Black people as lords and dukes in Victorian era England ?? This diversity thing is going places we've never been
lol, ah yes, the modern era, where real history offends people, so we make up lies and fantasies instead to please a social movement. I mean, if they want to be diverse and include black people, why not make movies and tv shows about actual african culture? African historical figures (because slavery was only a small part of african history), african myths and legends, and cool real historical characters...but nope, they will just insert black people into random places where they did not actually exist historically because that is what the SJW crowd wants. Re-writing history one movie at a time. Its funny actually, by trying to placate black people, they are really just insulting them. Its like, all that suffering black people went through during slavery, well guess what, we will just pretend it didnt' exist and make it all go away. The children can grow up watching movies where bad things never happened and real history is what we want it to be. Frankly that is a society that gives me the chills. Cultures that forget their real history end up repeating it somewhere down the line.
But it's a good diversity not that forced diversity from the people. Besides black people should appreciate the old classics of the 17th century to the 18th century a little bit more.
Not Victorian England ...Regency England ...how ignorant the public are! Total fantasy ...no blacks in society in those days ...blackwashing of history for the Woke.
@@beverleynewton7579 I don't even think this is even a woke blackwash. It's just something new we need to separate woke from pretending fiction. Woke is that stupid ass Star Trek discovery and a new TV series of Star wars that wants to do a major female cast from some feminist director.
Lol, even the indian agrees. This is show is complete nonsense.
All those crying for Regé-Jean Page to return are forgetting this is an "8 sibling unwinding story"......our generation Will literally grow with it.
Didnt know 18th century England had so many colourful characters.
That’s very racist of you no they don’t because those were racist times. Black people are tied of watching the same slavery movies it’s not a big deal this is how the 18th century should looked like
@@suziyard9465 it’s true you dumbfuck
@@suziyard9465 Is rewritimg history a good thing?
@Johnny Blaze So it's alternative-timeline-science-fiction? That's not how it's presented.
I think it is nice, but they should have done it more funny. It seems to be too cliche and dramatic for such a concept.
They keep forgetting that they should use the British accent
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
British Accent is not a language
@@stephenolondeonyango9734 No but English is and this is supposedly set in England?
They're all British tho, Except Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington) who is Irish.

I'm afraid to watch this in case the muscles responsible for rolling my eyes snap.
Bro, judging by your profile pic you are not the target audience of this. So best stay away and look for other shows worthy of your time. I think Barbarians is more up to your alley. That is a good show.
You are an old man, Mike. You were never seriously going to watch a flowery romantic series aimed at women and teenage girls, you're just a dusty ass racist with too much time on your hands. Focus on paying your mortgage.
@@NinaC Well yes, Barbarians is an extraordinary series. This is completely ridiculous.
@@NinaC Thanks for the recommend. The trailer was ehh but I've been impressed with recent german offerings (Dark, Babylon Berlin, Deutschland '83) so might give it a try. I still harbour suspicions it probably helps to be a little bit pished to enjoy toga dramas.
@@dr.drip2electricbuggaloo148 At least I'm paying my mortgage and not yours.
As for the colour switch thing ... it's provocative and I'm fine with that. That's what art should do.
If you can call this art. Because what makes my eyes roll is the completely predictable - of which there was far too much in the trailer alone. It's like supervising children and knowing what they're about to do even before they know it themselves.
Just started this show after season 2 started. I read it was a juggernaut for Netflix but I just hadn't gotten around to finding the time for it and I have to say it's a lot of fun with snarky dialog and lots of good looking people. It's great. It even managed to pull me away from Elden Ring - which is a feat in its own.
IT DIDNT NEED TO BE HISTORICALLY ACCURATE!!! The story itself has its own universe!!
The story itself is DREADFUL!
I actually couldn't imagine how good it would be but OH MY WORD!!! It looks even better than I imagined and more! Bridgerton and Wonder Woman?!?! Christmas looks a lot brighter already!
Yes!👏🎄
I'm sorry, did they put the 'fake relationship' prompt in a real series?
Its based off a Historical Romance book series and fake relationships always comes with the territory in those genres 🙂
Yes it’s wonderful. 😤 That prompt is such an amazing cliché
I read these books about 5 years ago....spoiler for anyone......stop reading...
I could have sworn they didn't ever fake their romance
@@saraha8826 yeah im pretty sure i remember that too

Can I say I'm just in love with dramas of british regency era the videography is just chefs kiss***
To be honest, these series increased my libido so much. The music was just right and all the right words. I was skeptical at first but this was worth my time
Daphne looks like a combination of Alycia Debnam Carey and Emilia Clarke
What have you done to me.. I can’t unsee it now
And a female version of Noah Schnapp
And Kate winslet
Audrey Hepburn + a young Mia Farrow= Daphne
This feels way more fantastical than historically accurate...
@Anthony Barkley , there are historical characters in the series, there is a reason they are there ... it's not something fantastic like Harry Potter

i'm telling you now, i actually loved this series even if i watched it almost a year later. i had resisted watching this but then i took an interest in it and i can't say I'm disappointed.
That scene 0:48 made me watch the entire series
As handsome as the Duke of Hastings is
The inaccuracies of this supposedly historical drama is astounding
Indeed, the Duke is so swoonworthy
historical fantasy is one of its genre so yea
it's all but historically accurate i might add
He isn't handsome by current Euro standards and also not by 1813 English standards. His hair is nappy, his lips are too big and his eyes are too dark. His nose is also shapeless and too wide.
@@cosmodinardo6705 He is ugly by the standards of racists. He is above average in the UK. Did you see if beautiful teeth? His height, his weight?? Your jealous. By nappy, you mean curly. Not like your horse hair. boy bye!
Can I reread the series in two weeks?! Challenge accepted.
You can. I did it in less than two. :)) The emotional confusion was real
Yes, you can !!!I did it after the first trailer. At list for the first season you just need to read the first book.
I reread The Duke and I.
