By "looking it up," I hope you mean watch the Sabaton history episode.
Simo Häyhä the white death, legendary Finnish soldier
I love the Winter War trilogy "White Death", "Talvisota", "Soldier of three Armies" 😁
Ooooh you want direct Sabaton recommendations? I've got plenty for you! Here's my list (prioritized by best songs per my opinion):
1. Dreadnought
2. Wolfpack
3. Hellfighters
4. Back in Control
5. To the Last Dying Breath
6. Saboteurs
7. Seven Pillars of Wisdom
As you maybe can tell I'm biased towards naval warfare songs-my dad is retired Navy:)
Thanks for the reactions and keep on jammin'!
Saboteurs is a extremely underrated song nobody ever mentioned the Norwegians perspective on the war of ww2
I know Simo used iron sights and not a scope.. I think the "bolt" you saw was part of the iron sight
After looking at some pictures I think they messed up actually :/
Sisu, finnish word that has no exact translation to english. Can be described something like attitude to never give up and even worst is going against you - you have guts to push thru it.
In Finland there are;
- Truck manufacturer called Sisu
- Sisu candy that is made from gum arabic and liquorice
- Movie called Sisu, released 2023
I prefer the explanation of "It is not momentary courage but the ability to sustain that courage in the face of overwhelming adversity"
About the bolt handle, I found images where it's straight up others where it's to the right.
In one image it's half way out the back and vertical with a 5 bullet clip inserted vertically just in front of it.
The Swedish kpist m/45, when secured, has the bolt in an almost vertical position, so it might be something similar.
very curious. i admit my knowledge of 70+ year old european weapons is not significant. (that may sound flippant, i didn't intend that. ive just literally never seen that.)
well i love your knowledge of history to be able to figure out what each song is about so if you have no direct recommendations then may i suggest sabatons union, which i dont know if it still is but in the history video Joakim did say it was his favorite song to sing, and frankly its one of my top favorites.
You need to check out a band called bad omens! You should listen to “dethrone” or “artificial suicide” by bad omens!
That's not a bolt handle, that is the iron sight, because this sniper didn't use a scope. He just used his iron sights, and still killed hundreds of people.
He didn't use a scope because light can flash from it and give away your position to enemy snipers.
And he was facing a lot of Russian snipers who were specifically sent in to kill him, and if Russian high command caught wind of this guy's position, they would order artillery strikes against him. He was pretty much Soviet enemy number one in the Finnish War. Simo Hayha, The White Death, over 505 confirmed kills.

🤘🇫🇮
Great attention to detail, yeah wtf is going with the rifle ? 😆
Apologize if you have done these before. I am going off the top of my head which I can remember you haveing done. Here are are a few recommendations I cant remember you having done.
Angels Calling (in my opinion musically one of their best)
The Last Battle (insane story)
A Ghost in the Trenches (about a Canadian native american in WWI)
Hearts of Iron (about the Battle of Berlin from the German perspective)
Attero Dominatus (about the Battle of Berlin from the Soviet perspective)
1648 (about the last battle of the Thirty Years War)
Inmate 4859 (an insane story as well about a Polish guy who volonteers to go into Auschwitz and sets up resistence cells on the inside. Later escapes and fights in the Warsaw Uprising before being killed by the his countrymen after the Soviets had set up their satelite state there)
Soldier of 3 Armies
I can add
"Resist and Bite" another insane history,
"Light in the Black" song dedicated to the UN Peace Forces,
"Talvisota" about the winter war,
"Smoking Snakes" nice song and related to Brazil forces 😁
