    I think DIY and grow your own videos are always successful! People hate trying stuff that will fail so you get to play that part.
    I am asking as a guy who knows nothing about these seeds to plants. Are the perennials? Or do they die and need replanting? I have heard various reports but all third hand so I know nothing. Could you set a Sponge Filter on the floor of the tank go get your filtration ready? Thank you, I am really enjoying this subject!!

    • @pittsburghpets3759
      @pittsburghpets3759  Před 4 lety +1

      I think so too, thank you. I don't believe they are, will do updates tho in the next few weeks. I have cycled brand new tanks with a old sponge filter in a day, if that answers your question. I fill with dechlorinated water, add a heater, ring out the sponge filter into the tank and then let it bubble till the tank clears back up.

    Just to clarify. These seeds, when germinated looks like Glossostigma. In reality if you grow these properly they look like Hygrophila araguaia (narrow and long leaves) or Hygrophila polysperma(lobed large leaves) and exactly they are

      Jesse I don’t wanna burst your bubble but it didn’t work for me. I bought a nice new 5 gallon tank, and fluval spec, the seeds, and a really nice light for it. I did all of the steps. I put the substrate down, and then the seeds, I every day I’d spray them down and then cover the tank with plastic wrap and turn the light on. They grew beautifully and I didn’t add water for 12 days and after I added water it looked amazing. It’s been 9 days since I added water to the tank and it looks horrible. The color turned to a dull grey and it’s just dying in patches. It was a waste of my time. I’m curious though to see what happened with yours because maybe I just did something wrong

      @@belle369 There are various types of scam carpet seeds, and you might have gotten unlucky and got a terrestrial plant rather than an aquatic plant. The most common scam seeds are a aquatic stem plant. Do you have a link to what you bought? Typically hygro is sold as "small leaf" and "large leaf" carpet seeds are terrestrial and can't survive underwater.

      @jkytest1 Před 3 lety +1

      Im adding my update.
      1. I bought the seeds from the link provided here. Also bought some seeds for hairgrass.
      2. hairgrass seeds never really germinated while the glossostigma here germinated real well
      3. I am using 2.6 spec v
      4. after all the steps i added water.
      5. after about 2 weeks of cycling added a snail and betta.
      6. the plant is thriving. they do look stemmy but.. so far i am happy with it.
      i wish i can share pic. but... idk.. idk my aquatic plants well, but i keep them trimmed down and they look good for me..I guess it is luck of the draw too.
