- Victor Davis Hanson is a classicist and military historian, professor of classics, and the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution. He is the author of more than a dozen and a half books. His most recent volumes are Makers of Ancient Strategy: From the Persian Wars to the Fall of Rome, which Dr. Hanson edited, and The Father of Us All: War and History, Ancient and Modern, a volume of Dr. Hanson's own essays.
Beginning with an explanation of why the post-Cold War New World Order is rapidly breaking apart, Victor Davis Hanson sees a world where nations are returning to the ancient passions, rivalries, and differences of past centuries. In light of this world transformation, Hanson looks at key challenges the United States faces around the globe: in Europe, Asia, Russia, Mexico, and Iran.
Remember that this was 9 years ago. Nobody did a damned thing about Mexico or China until Trump came into office. You may not like him but at least he recognized the issue and has been trying to sort it out.

Looking back 11 years later. He was right and predicted the mess we find ourselves in.
This interview was in 2014 it is not 2019 Mr. Hanson proves to be able to predict the future. For me, the problem is I have to continually stop this interview to think about Mr. Hanson comments. He is such a thought-provoking intellect I need time to digest his responses.
I live in the Netherlands, and I have to say the things he says about Rotterdam and immigrants is 100% true.

It is disturbing that every potential problem discussed in this conversation has been magnified in the past 12 years to the point where it is no longer manageable. We are Rome circa 450 AD.

I learn more in an hour listening to Victor than I could have in a full semester. He's so quick with all the right answers. Almost prophetic. I keep thinking
he would make a great presidential advisor. He knows how to win the respect of others who have differing opinions. He commands the direction of conversation with a calm forthright demeanor. HIS KIND of genius is sort of wasted by trying to educate millenials with his knowledge of history. Learning history is a way to avoid repeating our former mistakes, but so many see no value or use for it. They rather learn competitive gaming. Entertainment is the industry to pursue to be successful in our country these days.That and maybe a job having to do with pharmaceuticals.This is just my pesimistic oppinion.
The man has his finger on the pulse of the free world. And his read is a most accurate one.

I really enjoy listening to Victor. He learns from the past and suggests what the future may/could be. Worst of the immigration problem was about to start in 2010.

VDH, is a wealth of historical knowledge. Important to note; This interview was BEFORE Obama's second term.
Thomas Sowell and Victor Hanson should be on/in any President’s advisory board. They would not be good Presidents by they would be fantastic advisors.

Try watching lectures of Milton Friedman. His arguments cannot be more relevant to the present.
Although I know I should be reading VDH books, it is time well spent to listening to 4 or 5 of VDH's CZcams videos and be brought up to speed on the current issues.
A lot of difference between 2010 and 2019. We were a nation in decline back then. President Trump brought us out of the slough of despair. Elections matter.

sean smith thanks for the hitch reference, it prompted me to that video, and was impressed at how they disassembled his thesis, and i had mild respect for some of his views, and gained a better perspective of ww11's political and psychological warfare

If I knew back in the sixties and seventies that I was going to subscribe to hear opinions from the Hoover Institute I might have gone out and shot myself. As it is, I'm glad that I didn't know that I was going to take the red Pill and wise up.

because I think he actually reads the books he talks about. Most interviewers don't read the books they ask questions about.
He casually remarks "when I read a Greek Newspaper". Not many people in the public eye can say that. For example I doubt if Joe Biden can read Greek.
I believe the gentleman can speak six languages.
Biden has trouble reading English, so learning to read Greek probably isn't high on his list of priorities.

everyone seems to be interested in genes. i like what he said at the end. "we think that were not gonna be good unless were perfect, and we are socially engineering predetermined results about human nature'. and i agree with the meritocracy.
At the end of the interview it sounds like VDH was talking directly to why we needed someone like Trump. Fortunately we got him, at least for now, but Bernie and all his free stuff buddies still have their eye on the wrong goal! Pay close attention America, VDH just laid out the importance of re-electing Trump. Amazing the foresight from 10 years ago.

The statements about the SW are sad and true. I grew up there; left in 2001 because I was fed up with the crap going on because of The Race, and the Reconquest folks. Sad thing, because when I was growing up there we were all happy to be New Mexicans. Now we are fractionalized -- very sad.

I think everything mentioned in this video is still an issue to this day, with some of them, like the Chinese and Russian problem, more pressing now than they were 6 years ago.
The rise of China is all down to the US stagnation on a global and economic scale.
@@MMWoodworking -- Maybe not too soon,basically depends on how long chinese people are prepared to work in sweatshop factories for $10 a day +with a non-independant judiciary(same as Russia)international business contracts are not worth the paper they're written on,i.e.-try suing a chinese company for copyright theft or brand plagierism,you can guess the outcome.

I understand what does he mean and believe that it also very much make sense and reasonable too. I also believe that for those came very young and without choices with their parents ones who educated here and without any criminal records, we may let them to stay, if we can, because I worry they will have difficulty to adapt their new lives in Mexico again. Although I don't know politics much, however I learned and understand what are they talking about and believe that only very experienced researchers will understand that and being able to help people to understand why at the same time.
When you listen to Victor for a while you'll feel at lot of respect for him and for yourself
and wonder why we have such a bad feeling about the idiot politicians of today .
