It’s even harder to find a detent when it shoots over your fence and ends up somewhere on your neighbor’s roof! Yeah. That happened to me!😂😂😂

You just found a way to take all the fun out of it, especially if you're doing it on the back porch near the grass. Good video. I didn't know this tool existed, thank you.

Haha we used to call it "going swimming" and I'd have m249 springs going flying

Yeah decent cheap tool, lots of ways to do it without.

I'm using the clevis pin method. Gotten so use to it but this would've bee nice before I launched a few detents into the next zip code.

There is no chasing detents only replacing them. 💯

I like this thing, it makes it so much easier. They wouldn't even give us the shit when I worked in the government, I had to order it on my own

I just received mine today. I’ve been using a flat brass picture hanger to hold the detent in while putting the pivot pin in. This will be so much easier

Thanks. After a frustrating day I broke down and purchased the tool from Amazon, but it didn't come with any instructions. Until I saw your video it didn't occur to me to pivot the tool up 45 degrees after compressing the spring/detente, and before inserting the take down pin. Before I got the tool I had lost two detentes and ruined one spring trying to muscle that little bastard into place. Great tool, totally worth the money, but a little instruction sheet should have come with it. BTW Amazon sells a spring kit that also comes with all the detentes, pins, etc. No fire control group however. Good thing to know. Thanks again for the video.

I've lost so many detents I don't have any trouble finding one. Sort of a detent floor covering in my work shop. Arthritis makes working with detents a b.

Not too brag…. But on my first AR built I put both pivot pins while on the phone with only a metal toothpick hook…. It was so easy. Now installing the trigger…. Uuugghhhh I felt like giving up on that. Took me a whole night to cool off and finish

If you don't have the tool I'm talking about in the video, a dental pick is certainly helpful, but a safety pin works as well to compress the detent.

All you need is a 1/4 inch clevis pin from Home Depot, (about $2.50) and a small drift punch. Works the same way.
