Shabani is such a show off🤣❤️🦍 He LOVES the attention he receives. He's a good playful dad with lots of patience. Gorillas are extremely intelligent and i believe he knows what he's doing lol lol. There's a video of another Gorilla at a zoo signing to the visitors they're not supposed to feed him. Someone throws an orange and the Gorilla catches it and looks to his right to see if his keeper saw it before eating the piece of orange 🤣🦍 Gorillas are far from being anything but intelligent❤️ Love you Shabani and your family and all Gorillas everywhere 😍
That was a good video and made me laugh when he started looking to see if any of the keepers were watching when food was thrown to him. The gorilla knew he was not to be fed but of course "stupid people" don't listen and do it anyways. The gorilla doesn't understand why he is not to be fed just that he is not supposed to.

Exactly right you are. Most people think that because this enclosure is better then the old one, that it’s so great. It’s hideous, absolutely nothing natural here. Something you think you would see in a communist country, but not in Japan, shame on the zoo.

I wish the people wouldn't scream so loud. It is kind of offensive. Gorillas are so much like us, I would think that the laughing and screaming would be offensive. They are such beautiful and intelligent creatures. I wish they could be free.

What a beautiful and funny silverback! He certainly knows that he is being watched & puts on a great show for his fans. I love how he always looks back at the crowd after his performance. I would love to know what he is thinking. You can tell that there is a lot going on in that big beautiful head of his. I've only just discovered Shabani and family and I already love them. When Shabani was staring through the window and all you see is him from the nose up.... he looked just like a Sasquatch!
4:36 Shabani likes to startle the humans. But it's obvious he is just saying hello there. 4:48 feels like "good day". That's just so unique among gorillas. Most other species would be angered by being close to humans, or indifferent or annoyed. And gorillas can be. But their nature most reflects humans than any other species I can think of besides Bonobos... and chimps on a good day.
Wow he very rarely so much as looks at the humans outside, but this day it seems he was very interested.

@@harpermacenzi9483 No offence, but that was a ignorant thing to say. Of course the staff care! You can see these animal's are healthy. The amount of play show's happiness. It certainly doesn't look like they are going hungry. Large Alpha Silver Back Gorillas are extremely powerfull and smart. And in case you hadn't noticed, Shabani isn't the only Gorilla in there. There are numerous juveniles who don't have the balance of the adults. Those are the one's the staff are protecting. I just can't beleive you said that!
@Semper Fi Mr Marine, I have had the pleasure of working with Gorillas. And some of the big cat's. Before you intentionally insult someone, try to use some of the brains God gave you more of than animals! Acting like a Neanderthal Jar Head isn't a good look for you!

Gorillas, actually most animals, do not like to be stared at. A silverback gorillas sees staring as a threat. A challenge to his leadership. It must annoy him. I really wish the windows can be tinted to we can see the gorillas but they cannot see us. It would give them a sense of privacy.

Bosch, i'm a little curious, are you a boy or a girl? Something i've noticed is that women in particular have a large interest in great apes. Most of the most famous ape specialists have been women!
I think it's because women are wired to be attracted to alphas, and what's the most alpha looking thing in the jungle? Gorrilla.

@@BrosCrypto No way it's as simple as that lol. You ever see the Show Going Ape? It's about ape sanctuaries in Cameroon. Other than the local rangers, all the gorilla and chimp doctors were women.
@@BrosCrypto Yeah... except in gorillas, it's not dominance, but threat assessment and protection. The most dominant member of any given troop is usually the oldest female, although females are known to compete with each other for dominance, so a younger, stronger female may depose the oldest one. And recent researchers (armed with discreet remote cameras that don't impact animal behavior _as much_ as the presence of a human observer) are findng that females are far more aggressive than males. A silverback spends more time trying to settle disputes between females than trying to defend from outside threats.
Also, humans are more closely related to chimps and bonobos than gorillas. Neither has an alpha male, and females of both species try to gain status through social cooperation with higher-ranking females, rather than with high-ranking males.
So assuming that women or men are "wired a certain way" based on animal behavior is kind of an outdated mindset among biologists, psychologists, anthropologists, and sociologists. It'd be like claiming that we're "wired to be matriarchal because bonobos are," and that's just... it's not the way any of this works.
Humans are not bonobos, or chimps, or gorillas, and our social structure is far too complex and nuanced to use other species as justification for certain societal trends and cultural mindsets.
