*Metallica is the biggest of the Big 4 for many reasons. One being that they've been together for 41 years this October, are still touring, and still putting out albums. Two of the original members are still there. Kirk Hammett has been with band for 39 of those 41 years, and Robert Trujillo (bassist) being the newest has been with Metallica for 19 years. Metallica is the first band ever to play on all 7 Continents. Metallica has won nine Grammy Awards. Megadeth has one.. Slayer and Anthrax have none. Elton John covered Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" while saying it was one of the best songs ever written and that Metallica was one of the greatest bands of all time. That kind of acknowledgement from someone like Elton John is one of the biggest compliments anyone could get. (You should react to that from the Howard Stern show). Metallica has played with the San Francisco Symphony, played at San Quentin prison, and played the soundtrack for Mission Impossible 2 after Tom Cruise gave them a private screening of the movie, persuading them to do it. Even reactors on CZcams.. I've seen everyone like all of the Big 4 bands but Metallica always seems to be the front runner because of their versatility. One minute you'll want to head bang, the next you can rock your baby to sleep with one of their ballads. Individually, ppl have differences of opinions when it comes to which band they think is the best out of the Big 4 and why. But when it comes to who is the biggest outside of personal opinions, Metallica wins.*

Pantera has a clear thrash influence in their sound especially starting in the 90s with their album Cowboys from hell. The two previous albums have a more traditional heavy/power metal sound to it. They could not be classified as a totally thrash band because of their groove sound that helped them differentiate from thrash bands in the 90's and practically create a new sound that was coined groove metal.

Saying Lars is a bad drummer is like saying Ringo Starr is bad drummer! It is mostly younger metal fans that give Lars shit. Up until ...and Justice for All, he inspired a whole generation of drummers. What people forgot also is that he is key to Metallica's song writing. He has a lot of arrangement ideas when it comes to sorting through thousands of riffs during the writing procrss. It has been said that he used to think in fills, like James Hetfield thinks in riffs, rather than thinking in groove. This meant that he did some really trick drum patterns, but maybe not so great at joining them together. Either way, that has set him apart and a lot of great drummers copied him.
I'll be the first to admit that I think he is a bit of a dick, but he has been the glue and the driving force behind Metallica when they have been at their low points.
All the best, Rich in Sweden.

First four albums by Metallica were genuinely game changers. Ferocity, musicality, originality, attack, freshness. Then the black album happened and they became just another radio-friendly rock band. They lost something when they ran out of music that Cliff had had an influence in creating.

He was admitted to a psyche ward (baker acted) and when he got out, I was the person he called because he had nowhere to go. So, I invited a bunch of friends over, got a cake etc... and threw a party for him. When he came to the door, I had music playing: "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)". Back in the 80's, James had a few of those white Explorer guitars. Each had a different tuning and could be told apart by the letters at the top of the back end of the guitar. Looks like this one is EET FUK, which I think was open E tuning.

    Hello guys !!!
I will present You with a polish trash metal band Flapjack.
The beginning of the band’s founding dates back to December 1993. The group was founded by Robert "Litza" Friedrich and Maciej "Snail" Starosta, members of the Acid Drinkers and brothers-in-law in the private life. After recording a 'Vile Visous Vision' album with this band, they said that there was a lack of power and energy. As Robert Friedrich admitted, he was missing a "strong thrash" play at that time. The creation of this stream of music combined with hip-hop and hardcore punk was a source of the new formation. In an interview with 1994 Maciej Starosta stated "our brains look like flapjack after playing in Acid Drinkers." The members of the new formation was initially unclear. In addition to the rhythmic guitar ‘Litchy’ and ‘Snail’ percussion, the role of bass guitarist was taken over by the aforementioned ‘Titus’ and the duties of the vocalist have been taken over by ‘Kompas’. In such a squad, musicians made one attempt.
One day Tomasz ‚Lipa’ Lipnicki from the Illusion group, accompanied by a singer of Red Rooster and N’Dingue Grzegorz ‚Guzik’ Guziński (Guzik died 2021), came to the studio. Ultimately, ’Guzik' became the main singer Flapjack at the resulting band album.
The premiere album is titled 'Ruthless Kick' and issued in june 1994. The album contained 10 songs, a modern combination of thash metal and hardcore. Album cover represented the shoe-look print and the password "for Moth only" drawing attention to the fact that heavy footwear is intended solely for playing at concerts, and in this context, the slogan was also opposition to violence. They toured with - Biohazard, Paradise Lost, Dog Eat Dog. The group has recorded 3 more albums:
    - 1996 FairPlay
    - 1997 Juicy Planet Earth
    - 2010-2014 Keep Your Heads Down
So …. my suggestion is song from 1st album
Flapjack - I hate fuckas (feat. Lipa)

  • @Drivestort
    @Drivestort Před 2 lety +1

There's a lot of clips of them forgetting how to play a song, there was a tour they did where they had the fans submit songs to be on the playlist, and there's a clip of them having fucked up one of the songs so many times they're about to give up on it just because they never played it. But that happens when you've got a discography going back 30-40 years and there's stuff you've just literally never played outside of the studio when recording it.

I would be extremely happy if you continued with the unforgiven songs, and specially "Master of Puppets", one of their most iconic, and influencial songs, with a very strong message about drugs, politics and life.

Lars deserves a lot of credit for a lot of things. He's the founder of Metallica, the biggest metal band ever. He's the lynchpin that's held the group together throughout the decades and he's amazing at songwriting and constructing an album. He also used to be an amazing drummer live. The hate that he's gotten in recent years is because he's gotten really lazy and sloppy with his drumming, although to be fair some of his falloff can probably be attributed to aging. He definitely phones it in though and has for a while now (probably since the 90's) so you can't blame it all on aging. Much of the criticism he get's for that is warranted but that's different than not being talented. The people who hate on him and say he has no talent are dumb.

All 4 members together create magic just the best music there is

Absolutely FALSE. Each member is an intrinsic piece of the Metallica puzzle without which they would not be Metallica Lars is the one who initiated the band and put the ad into the Orange County recycler however there would be no Metallica if the mighty Hetfield had never answered that ad because while Lars is definitely the backbone both rhythmically and entrepreneurially of the band James and Kirk are the ones who are responsible for the arrangements and the lyrics of the juggernaut that is Metallica and while he was with us the mighty cliff and Jason and Robert they are all Cosmic tumblers in the tapestry that is this masterpiece don't get it twisted I love Lars but there is more to Metallica then the Great Dane recognize and Know Your Role class dismissed

You are right. They are about to record a new album. No new members though. Still strong with the four they got. Just did their 40th anniversary concert. They tour pretty much constantly. Had a break during covid, but thats about it. I'm from Atlanta guys as a matter of fact, and they just finished playing Mercedes-Benz Stadium in November right after the Braves won the World Series. I was there, and trust me they haven't let up not one bit. Keep up the good work guys love your content. I guess y'all are practically my neighbors.

This whole Seattle concert video is my all-time favourite of all the live video footage out there. This is them at their absolute peak. They were in their late 20s and on fire for this tour.
This was 2 years before Bob Rock got his claws in them and commercialized them. I'm not saying I don't like some of what they've done since the Black album came out. It's just a fact that 1991 is the year they became an international commercial success.
Please please please do more 80s Metallica!!?! Anything off of the 1st four albums. ANYTHING!!

The thing about Lars being made fun of comes from a period when Metallica wasn't as active as the were early on. There was a lot of fighting in the band. Jason and Kirk were being left out and James was battling alcoholism. At that time there were several videos of Lars forgetting drum lines and being really off tempo and it was James doing most of the ridiculing. Thank God they all got their shit together (well, Jason quit or got fired, depending on the source you want to believe). None of them are the players they used to be obviously, but Lars did get back into his groove. Go to their channel and watch the backstage rehearsals. They are pretty damned tight and they get along better than ever it seems. I'm new to you guys and love your guy's reactions! Keep it up!

The people who hates Lars doesn't know Metallica. It was Lars that wanted to form a band and who put up a notices that James later responded to back in 1981. It was after that they formed Metallica. Lars is the masters of the puppets. He introduced James to a lot of music (nwohbm). It is also a fact that it is Lars and James that writes 90 of the music whereas the arrangement is almost mostly Lars. Lars is the head and the leader. The best drummer? No far from it. But to make it you need other qualities as well. Without Lars, no Metallica.

Absolutely. Thats what my first thought was. “Its kind of his band.” Lol Even the name came through him. Not the best technically, but on stage performance, and business side of things, he is up there. He has admitted he doesnt even practice more than enough to stay loosened up and in shape. Never to try to get better.

The 4th track of any Metallica album is epic, pretty much without fail, but especially for the three Sweet Silence records (Lightning, Puppets & Justice), where you have the three quintessential Metallica power ballads (Fade to Black, Sanitarium & One)
It also hits a bit differently going back and hearing any live show before the Black Album, which is where he blew his voice out and had to retain on vox...

Regardless of who is your favorite, Metallica is BY FAR the biggest band in the Big Four. Probably the biggest in thrash and possibly the biggest in heavy metal, full stop. Outside of even record sales and charts they were selling out arenas worldwide before they ever even had songs on the radio or music videos. The overall impact they had cannot be understated. They're up there with Sabbath, Floyd and the Beatles.
