It's heartwarming to see we all share similar problems globally. And in 2009 they already understood that wearing masks is an act of kindness towards others. Thank you.

Each time I return here this song brightens my day :) I think it is the best of all Complaint Choir performances.
I love the intensity of the guy at 6:25 ...probably because I understand EXACTLY how he feels, plus I got the idea he was having fun with his frustration. I thought of that about a half hour after I first saw this and I wanted to laugh like crazy all over again. (I only restrained myself because I imagined that would only go over so well in a meditation hall.)
In Asian countries, it is normal to wear surgical masks when you're sick so you keep others from getting sick. In the case of song, it is symbolic of Japanese people's tendency to keep complaints to themselves in public settings. Taking the masks off is finally allowing themselves to complain no matter petty it might be.
my japanese teacher showed this to our class when i was in 11th grade and let me tell u... it's been three years since i last saw this video and i was so happy that i finally found it again because it's so funny and relatable even though i dont live in japan or am japanese lmao THANKS MR. PAKISER. U THE REAL MVP.
I think it is really interresting to see what all-day-problems the people from different countrys have! There were some that I could totally understand, because they also happen to me, but some of these things are not important in my life at all, but for japanese people they obviously are! There were also some "stereotypes" that I built out of reading manga and I thought they were just typicall mangastory elements, but they seem to be real! Listen to the other complaint songs and compare!! :)
i like about this that it is much more political than a lot of the other city's/country's complaint choirs! and a-ma-zing music, too!!! very, very well done, indeed!
I actually appreciate the fact that they point out the aspect of cultural difference. Western countries, by which I mean EU and US, always attempt to force their values upon eastern countries, which is totally wrong and ridiculous. I am not Japanese, but I really appreciate this.
lol I use to live in Japan and had to goto Tokyo quite frequently for work XD.. I can relate to the discount cards, and the Oedo line being too crowded... they stuff yo ass in those trains during rush hour.
@francoisancebou Hahaha xD I loled so hard at that!! Anyway, remember that Japan T-shirt I wanted to make there in BA?? Well, I've decided I'll change the kanji at the back for a whale on a plate! LOL xD
@GaijinGDB Oita city has a shop that sells Whale meat, but I don't know if they're still in business. It isn't popular to eat.. I think its just something Japan's elite consumes to be honest.
@LanakilaIesu lol yea man. I use to work in tokyo for a few months. its stressful. the commute and everything.. at the end of the day when you're walking back and some solicitor stops you just verbally abuse them XD
Caught this on Boing Boing. I'm so impressed!! I want to join something like this! And this only makes me want to visit Japan (or even learn the language) so much more. I can't say enough; well done.
@sachiym most japanese don't eat whales or dolphins... I didn't understand why these were put into the lyrics also... I am someone who lives in beppu btw XD
@lordblazer, hmm. i amend my comment; politeness - is not _this_ common in Ireland and England - the two places i have lived.... sad to say. A complaint would usually be .. er 'padded out' with much swearing and louder voice! ;)
@hypernorton dude don't you gu ys have commercials on the radio telling you to remember to stop at stop signs. I've spent some time in MAlaysia... but you know what. There are crappy drivers everywhere... Come to Texas and you get to see suicidal crappy drivers... people who are on the highway thinking they can go 90 MPH on a 35 degree angle ramp in a really old SUV or pick up truck, only to see them turned over. car wrecks every 2 to 3 miles on the road... texas....
god the let me sleep guy was such a good complaint. this song is beautiful

I love that it is not only about the big things but also about all the little things that are so annoying in everyday life...
I love the intensity of the guy at 6:25 ...probably because I understand EXACTLY how he feels, plus I got the idea he was having fun with his frustration. This is just adorable. I’m from Helsinki, and I think we have the 2nd best complaints choir, Tokyo being the superior nr 1!

Indeed ...you are a master of observation. Many thanks.
Good Performance
I actually appreciate the fact that they point out the aspect of cultural difference. Western countries, by which I mean EU and US, always attempt to force their values upon eastern countries, which is totally wrong and ridiculous. I am not Japanese, but I really appreciate this.
Samba, that's so nice, even a Pandeiro
Good to see such a great sense of humor from the Japanese.
I hate the Oedo sen stairs too. That subway line is like 200 mt deep.
Great video!
but so many ignorant comments below show little understanding of anything..
LET ME SLEEP MORE

Dope song. Valid points. Never live in Japan :P

@sachiym I agree. I once went to Japan and i didn't see any whale meat for sale.
@mace197

cool XD
Liked the performance. Very interesting. Favorite part was the guy screaming between 6:23 and 6:30. Can totally relate to that. XD
"whales and dolphins are delicious" WTF???
"Please understand our culture"
i've had whale in iceland where it's legal- it is delicious
@arenasification and so it does
@francoisancebou Hahaha xD I loled so hard at that!! Anyway, remember that Japan T-shirt I wanted to make there in BA?? Well, I've decided I'll change the kanji at the back for a whale on a plate! LOL xD
We all LOL-ed at the mask.
Thumbs up if you did!
No offence to Japan!
And we send our greatest condolences to the latest Quake!
7:23 - A Japanese Happyslip! (seriously, look up 'happyslip' on youtube. The resemblance is uncanny)
Gracias.
@GaijinGDB
Oita city has a shop that sells Whale meat, but I don't know if they're still in business. It isn't popular to eat.. I think its just something Japan's elite consumes to be honest.
