  • Taken around 1979/80 this footage shows the tremendous variety of traction to be found on the East Coast Main Line. The Deltics had little more time to go and had largely been replaced by HST sets on main line trains. They were still to be found however albeit relegated to semi-fast services where three examples in this short film were captured at Barkston Jn.

Brill mate. Reminds me of trips to Doncaster overnight and doing some runs down to Peterborough maybe getting off in between( BASHING) A £10 pound East midland ranger ticket( 1 weeks travel) From my local station Alfreton. Sad like but i can always remember about 10 of us were on Donny overnight when prince charles married Lady Diana that day 1981 I believe 👍(sister channel Erewash Valley and beyond)
