  • A full build from start to finish by Walt Barrett and part of his film crew. It's a great shed and could be uses a a garden office, studio, or even a micro home with some minor modifications. Larger sizes of this product could be the solution to the housing problems in many countries.
    We build the entire unit for under $600.00 for the lit and materials cost. You cant beat that and there are larger sizes available They are so simple to build! You cannot beat the price either! Let your imagination run wild!

    I am very appreciative for the foundation design you provided using the cinder blocks and wood foundation. That was what I was looking for in building this shed from Rubbermaid along with seeing the instructions live. Well put together video. Good job making this. Thank you.

    Just finished installing my shed and wanted to say "thank you" for the outstanding video! You should market it to Rubbermaid since it's a great supplement to their manual, but I think this model has been discontinued (at least that's what HD told me when I bought mine on sale) so I guess they wouldn't be interested. I had no problems installing the doors, maybe Chip was just trying to say it wasn't included in the video, and the door handle can be installed upside down so David should be able to just flip his. Thanks again!

    I wish I had viewed this video before I started. My grandson and I had difficulty with the manual. Most manuals shows pictures of actual parts which I always find helpful. My grandson tried to build with little use of the manual which is never a good idea. Great video Walt. I will have to show this video to my grandson so he can see where we made errors. One thing you didn't mention is that on those two roof supports they have a long and a short end. The short end should on the roof end.

    HI,
    I'm glad that the video on the Rubbermaid shed was helpful to you. Mine is saving me the expense of renting a storage space and already paid for itself two times over.

    Great video. Very helpful and informative.
    Like others, I had to install this alone. Watching this video was instrumental in my decision to assemble the doors, roof skylights and roof supports before putting up the sides. This made assembling the unit much faster, minimizing the time wind gusts could stress the assembly.
    I put a level, sunken, 4X4 surround protruding one inch over soil, back-filling with sand for a stable base. Then used earth-anchors (screw type) to secure base.

    Make sure that this video starts from the beginning and if not, drag it back and start it over again. This is the only Rubbermaid shed that we ever filmed. We made this film in 2011 and found the instructions to be very thorough. We did have to read them very carefully aloud as we did each assembly step.. If you think there is a problem you should email customer service at Rubbermaid. We are not connected to them and only made the video as a public service as we had to erect it anyway and are getting very good service out of it. Also, check with where you bought it.

    When we made this video the first thing that we did having never assembled a Rubbermaid building before was to read the manual several times. If you don't follow the steps exactly as they are spelled out in the manual you are going to have problems. We did not find any defects in the building kit at all and we had to assemble it under a deck with about two inches of head room. You must have a level platform and you must read the manual. We had never done a Rubbermaid building before.

    Read the steps for the wall installation again and make sure that you used the correct wall panels. They have to snap into the floor panels correctly or nothing else will line up. Look carefully as you could have missed a step.
    If you still have a problem then get a rep from the store where you bought it to come out and take a look at it.

    nice helpful video. except the part about wrestling the roof into place which was covered in all of 5 seconds. if you buy the shed based on this (i did), you will get it home and get stuck putting the roof on. most do. check the forums. use lots of soap (as suggested). you might have to assemble the fist part of the roof on the ground - metal framing and roof ridge pieces) and then put that back up as a unit as we did. the rest is straightforward.

    Yes, Tapcons would be fine. Use the stainless version and also be sure to seal the building to the concrete properly. Check out this site and video. www.concretefasteners.com/anchors-fasteners/tapcon-screw/pricing.aspx?gclid=CPaMroPz8LoCFaZ7QgodWSAApA

    I'm so glad I found this video!
    We purchased a house with this particular shed on the property a year ago, and noticed that the wall on the right side has come loose from the floor, causing it to buckle out by a good inch or so. There are a few other issues with the previous owner's construction of the base, causing the floor to sag (at a pretty good angle, too) towards the back so we'll be taking it apart and moving it to a better location.
    The question is, if the wall is bowed out, and the floor has sagged, will it be possible to make it plumb again when we go to put it back together? Has anyone had this issue upon reassembly?

      Sara Marsh Hi Sarah,Take the walls and floor apart and lay the panels out on a flat surface so that they can relax back into shape in the warm sun if necessary. Build a strong, flat, level and square platform using treated lumber. Make sure all the male clips on the panels snap securely into the female slots in the floor panels. The building is great! Mine is over 5 years old now. If you have any more questions please write me at wbarrett1@aol.com

    Great video.....except I did not and would not use a power drill on the screws through that thin plastic, even on low speed.

    I can't get my wall panels to line up. Step 5. It seems that they have warped a little and don't line up therefor when I get to the step of installing the metal roof frame that price doesn't easily fit onto the wall panels. I have to squeeze them down and together but still can't install the roof frame.

  • @smokecell1
    @smokecell1 Před 11 lety

    of course. trying to install it right side up does not work seeing as how the handle only can be inserted one way. just a manufacturing error i'd guess.

    You really need to read the directions over a couple of times before assembling any product that comes knocked down.

    • @WaltBarrett
      @WaltBarrett  Před 10 lety

      Hi Chip, I don't remember anything difficult about installing the doors. Could you please tell me what difficulties that you had. We find that when we do a project of this type it really pays off for everyone who is involved it the project to read the instructions at least twice. For instance, when you erect the wall panels if you don't get them in the right place then nothing else lines up correctly. A lot of people never bother to read the instructions and it is imperative that you do. Frankly, if I were marketing any kind of product that requires assembly I would include a CD with full assembly instructions. As you can see by the comments we had varying opinions of the video. I will check out step 20 after to tell me the problem that you had. Perhaps we can add in more info on the door installation.
      Thanks,
      Walt
