DESCRIPTION: Popular with paleo diet advocates, organic chicken broth is tested for the presence of the toxic heavy metal lead.

Most of the 'organic' farms are still owned and operated by the same companies. There are many loopholes, and they absolutely exploit them.
      So, do your research.

"The heavy metals such as Pb and Cd that are present in commercial broth/soup were found herein to have concentrations in the range of a few micrograms per serving. Thus the hazard quotients are low and so the risks that are associated with ingestion of heavy metals from broth are considered minimal." I have a question on that. If it takes 30 years to get rid of half the lead and lead leaving your bones results in undesireable outcomes, does it matter how small the dose is as the gradual accumulation does damage in the long term?

Bone broth or similar to this used to be the main food of Romans soldiers and Spartans also Massai today they eat something similar to this with lot of blood and still have huge endurance. Even Japanese people have many recipes like this and almost all of them are very healthy and they live till 87 years old!!
Myself used to have joint problems, i tried many different treatments but all of them was waste of time and money exept bone broth who helped me a lot.

Awesome video. Ahh just one question. Is the Lead in a form that the body absorbs? The question is not just exposure it's also whether the form ie structure which impact whether it accumulates. Kind of like those mineral supplements that just ground up rocks. They are barely absorbed. Just because the chicken absorbed it doesn't mean we do. Did the study indicate whether people up take the Lead in the broths?? You need to know that before you know what the real risk is. Clever ending though. Maybe clever by half until we know the absorbtion.

This is a silly video. Such things always build up higher in the food chain. Humans have around 400 times more lead in our bones now then humans before the industrial revolution. Largely from breathing and the lead in the air. Meaning we all need to do oral chelation everyday of our lives to keep the heavy metals low in our body. It takes around 15 years alone for our bones to remodel so 15 years to get the lead out of our bones. So unless there is a very abnormally high amount of lead in these bones because of bad feed being given then there is a reason to avoid. Otherwise this video is quite silly and pointless. We all need to constantly be getting the heavy metals out of our body whatever your diet. Because we all breath. At least this is what Gary Gordon says the guy who literally wrote the protocol for the government for chelation. I personally am going with what he says.

I will point out that soil can contain enough metals that produce grown in them can be considered unsafe and it does on occasion reach the food chain as well. Not that it is any worse than the bone broth, just that we cannot guarentee complete safety as all produce has a variability range based on the soil it is grown in.

I grew up in South Italy and unfortunately there was a place not so far from my hometown where mafia buried radioactive waste not far from foodstuffs in the early 2000s (it was a big scandal at the time, they even made a movie about it), so we got used to thinking that vegetables aren't much healthier than meat anyways, because apparently you don't really know what's in the soil

Yeah, I mean lead in animals can only come from what they ingest so eating animals is eating concentrated minerals. Last 300 years feels like it has been a race to the bottom to destroy the enviorment to make money regardless of consequences. Technically all of recorded history is about resource exploitation. Instead of childishly insulating other people, how about finding some solutions? Since it is broth, the lead must be in mobile state. Lead is heavy and it may have some other chemical properties that would allow us to separate it from the broth. Bone broth is a very common traditional dish in Korea, and probably the majority of Koreans would not stop eating it. You can mock people who are getting terrible lead poisoning, saying "I told you not to eat those?", but that does not make you a better person.

Schpankme Verimuch Yeah interesting work-around as long as they don't feed cows to cows. I've heard there are some countries where they still do that as well...

Schpankme Verimuch So you're saying it technically doesn't exist, it's only diagnosed now and then?

I make my own homemade vegetable soup, but I am worried about losing nutrients from the vegetables from cooking! Does anyone know if it is better to cook the soup on low for long hours, not reaching boiling point. Or boiling it straight away so it doesn't cook for long? I want to save as much nutrients as I can!

Is there anything people can do if they ARE contaminated w/ lead? I am thinking of the people of Detroit.

to be honest, its disturbing.... a close friend of mine was swearing by bone broth and drank it religiously throughout her pregnancy. they lost the baby. not to say every single health disorder and disaster is from animal products, but every single link is right there with big red flag saying,"not healthy!"

Dr. Greger, broth from beef bones is the more popular source of bone broth. Most recommend bones from grass fed cattle. Is there data to suggest the same lead toxicity in beef bones?

meanwhile, if people ate dirt, by not over washing everything they get from the garden...there we be no need to worry about b12

+overlogg Dirt isn't a reliable source of B12. Get your level tested four months before testing for an accurate result (otherwise falsely high level, showing whats in the blood from the supp and not whats reached the cells). Make sure you ask for a printout and not take your doctors word for it. See B12deficiency.info
