  • I show a new ECO Game Building, take a first look at a new Build Law, talk about some Contract Features, and how to use Steam Power to stimulate high demands for wood. The Build uses a mixture of Ashlar Stone (ashlar shale) and Concrete for a modern construction look. The ECO Game improved the law building in 9.0, so we are making a huge Build Law to pay people to build government funded projects based on Tier of material and what skills do they have. We take a quick look at contract with e Customer clause, stockpile placement, and how to set permission through a contract. We also look at a future ECO game electric power plant that is going to use the Steam Engine along with making charcoal for fuel to create electricity.

      Another problem is that the government and economy are different in every server and every session or season, Making the game even harder for new players as you undersand how laws, politics and economy works in a server and then when you start a new session it's just a desaster of knowlage

    Ok Oearth I know you from SC and follow all your videos and I don’t have this game but you got me intrigued... 1 question: you mention server several times so if I join how do I know if I end up on your server? Is each server a community with their laws? Thanks!

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, each server is it's own entity and creates it's own world, laws, economic structure...everything, all driven by the players. Even each world/server is a unique gen in content, biomes, etc. The game just provides the "law-builder" and other tools to mold the world and player interactions. Some work, and some fail, but that is part of the ECO experience. Some server groups do have what I'll just call 'bad admins' that (for example) magically spawn in items for themselves, or exert actions on other players whenever they want to that are outside of the organic gameplay. If you want to get on the DadSpeed server where I've settled after trying many server groups over the years, you can find the direct IP address in each of my more recent ECO video descriptions. Feel free to hop in and have a look around!

    So I was thinking about getting the game and saw you have a server.
    was wondering how many people usually play, and if the server is wiped every 20 or so days for the metor. Was hoping it is not just a server where it has no metor and people are just chilling.
    Thanks for any feedback you can give or maybe point me to a video where you talk about your server =)

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety +4

      The number of people varies, but it's almost kind of rare to log on and be the only one - people are logging in and out 24 hours a day from all over. As far as the wipes, this is a long running server that focuses more on making a strong economy and allowing everyone to progress and create amazing build projects and cities; so there are still no plans to wipe it in the foreseeable future while it's still going strong. I wouldn't say folks are chilling exactly because there always seems to be flurry of activity, but there's no rush either - people don't ever have to get the feeling of being "left-behind" if they don't log in for a few days, or if they join well after the start. We are on about day 90, and folks are still joining and able to be productive, which is something I haven't found true on the meteor servers. If you join in on day 5 on a 20-30 day server, you could have a rough start. I do have several videos on economy, what makes a good server, and other topics, so feel free to browse! :)

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety +1

      I think so...primarily because there are folks there to help you out - it very collaborative. It has a general chat box where folks converse about a lot of things. Also, this server tries to make "opportunities" for any new comers so they can be contributory and not feel left out - still requires starting with just stone knives, but you won't feel unable to progress.

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety +1

      It's funny, I started the series like that just narrating the play and editing it down a bit, but it sort of mutated in more informational stuff with the game pushing the advancement into new topics. Doing a more "Let's Play" series would of been a lot easier and much less time consuming, so may regret the direction is seems to have gone! LOL Hope you enjoying the videos in any case! =)

      @Oearth  Před 3 lety

      I've toyed with the idea of streaming a couple times, but like my videos, if I'm going to it, I want it to be a good product for people - which for streaming means keep a very regular broadcast schedule for some reliability of when your on...and I just haven't found a regular timeframe I think would work well. Having that regularity so it's dependable for people has really been my holdup. Great question!!

    pays 2 daddyos per scoop of dirt. How is that kept track of and proven??!?!?!?!

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety

      @Austin Brown Not too sure what you mean, but there are a couple ways to manage payment for scooping out dirt. Knowing the area you want excavated, it's simple math to know how many blocks of dirt that is you want remove and set a payment for that. Using out build law, we could also apply that to dirt removal when the precise amount isn't know - you'd set a payment for each scoop of dirt taken in the designated build zone; and like most road laws, tax if they are just putting it back. They may or may nopt answer your question, but you can see more about the build law in my video on Law System Explained where I use that as one of my 4 examples.

    That's wrong, with a custom clause, you have to be online to accept contractors.

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety

      You actually don't. Anyone can accept the contract and do the work - I've done it dozens of times in this version. The only thing you need to be around for is to mark the contract as finished when they are done, which is a really good thing for build contracts as it gives you a chance to look at the work if payment or some bonus is directly associated with the contract. Not sure who told you you have to be online to accept the contractor, but I assure you that is misinformation. :)

      @remipoujoulat7759 Před 3 lety +1

      @@Oearth Well I can't check the auto-accept button so I guess I can't accept a contractor unless I am there? Or I am wrong, contracts are so confusing sometimes.

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety

      Oh! I see your question. The auto-accept is a little deceiving the way it's named - it's not really an acceptance by the person taking the contact. It's an "acceptance" of a successfully completed job by the person making the contract - i.e., it won't automatically assume the job is acceptable and close out the contract along with any delivered payment. It's a very unclear checkbox! :D Really glad you responded back on that!

    Do people play this game?

  • @violentdawg
    @violentdawg Před 3 lety

    Watching this and a couple other videos have really turned me away from this game. What happens when you settle on a server with no community form? There's just so much going on how do you learn and get the hang of this working 40+ hrs a week? If no one on the server has a specific specialty then how do you move forward? So many questions lol. Can you create a server for new players and so on. My brain is spinning there's so much going on.

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety +1

      In its basic form, you make things, you build things, and you buy and sell things. The more you play, the more layers and depth are revealed. Their are also different kinds of servers for different play-styles, but finding a good server that suites you is definitely a plus. Ours for instance is a long running server where there’s no rush, and no one gets left behind, so even though we are into day 90+, néw folks are joining daily, asking questions, fiddling around with things, and becoming productive. Look around on my channels playlist - I’ve got videos that might help with your questions. There’s also no right or wrong way to play. If you’re watching my play through, you’ll see I make lots of them (LOL) even with thousands of hours in the game, and just...change my strategy.
