    They're absolutely remarkable animals. I had the privilege of seeing and hearing them every day from my Aunt's house in Hawaii (Big Island). Every time they breached it was like Christmas morning as a child. The size of them, combined with their grace and agility is unfathomable until you actually see them up close. It's a spiritual experience I can't even explain. The fact that we humans have almost brought Humpbacks and other Whales to extinction is ignominious and a condemnation of our race.

As well as "Our Planet," which this clip is from. They are docuseries that you can watch on BBC or BBC America, also Netflix, Hulu, and the BBC channels on SlingTV. The planet doesn't give a shitt about us or other living creatures, we may go to extinction dragging some other species with us, but the planet will stay where it was whether filled with living creatures or not.
      Try managing our surrounding ecosystems because to say we need to save the planet is just too arrogant for my taste.

    • @WatcherMovie008
      @WatcherMovie008 Před 4 lety +3

      Japan whaling is severely reduced compared to how it was decades ago. It still a big problem, but economic stresses has put Japan in a tight spot. As the for reason why industrial whaling was banned overall easily, whaling by the 50s and onward was seen as unfashionable, barbaric, cruel, and beyond obsolete (whale oil was used for lantern light until petroleum was found). Also it has shown that ecologically, by taking out a species that plays a major role in the ecosystem (humpback and other baleen type whales rely on krill to be the big giants they are), it causes hazardous scenarios to play out (an increase of krill population would be devastating to plankton and algae population, which in turns would be devastating to the planet's oxygen production).

      It is important to know that some whale watch companies and some countries allow swimming with whales, but it is illegal to do so otherwise. Make sure you do through research first to make sure you arent breaking any protection laws.

    Smart, graceful, and majestic in appearance. It’s understandable why we nearly hunted these creatures to extinction, but I’m happy to know their numbers are rebounding significantly.

    The way whales spray out water reminds me the submarines release air from the ballast tank.
    I think submarines are inspired by whales.

    The beauty of whales. Such giant animals which can be terrifying but they are so gentle and so kind to humans while we have hunted them down. I'm glad that it's illegal to hunt them now.
