I'm playing on a laptop that's about 8 years old now, so naturally, I just accepted the lag that came with the Sims 4, but these tips still helped loads! It's not perfect, but it doesn't freeze for as long as it used to and build mode is not as nightmarish anymore. Thank you for the help!

Also if you want your game to load faster and you are using custom content ,go to game options click other and click ''view custom content'' by default i think this will be checked so uncheck it ,you dont need to see all that custom content listed when you open up your game because this causes your game to take too much time to load that way!!

Thanks for All your tips but I cant still even get my game to start now.. I added some custom content I Purchased but i deleted alot of stuff I have a 3T drive and I'm only using 639 GB on my C drive and in my documents where I have my sims its the only folder I have and only using 26.7 GB I have done everything you said and dont understand why my game wont even start... it says its running but wont come up??? HELP PLEASE !!!!! I've been working on this for Days now

We’re using a lot of mods, right?
There might be some broken ones in the mods folder, for me deleting the ones that end with ts4script and any file that adds features in the game (like columns, more ui options), btw, you can tell a file adds a feature in the game by the name of the file (eg. slice of life = it ends with package, but it does add features aka interactions in the game)
So deleting those really helped me + installing the updates + resetting the mods folder
Also deleting any kind of cc clothes that appear broken in the game should help (you can easily identify those with ts4studio = this shows all of your cc without opening the game or by making your sim wear those clothes + saving sims wearing those broken clothes to your library and using the sims 4 tray importer to view the sim that wears those broken cc + identify those broken files directly in the mods folder) I have a video for that here

The problem is not my cpu or ram my cpu is core i5 8th gen and my ram has 8gb of storage. My problem is related to my graphics card. I had no problem without cc but when I started using mods and cc (I have more than 500 cc) It got really laggy. I dont wanna remove the cc's I have but I dont wanna wait 2 minutes just to remove a single wall either. So idk what should I do now.
Delete them.
Or use sims 4 studio and merge them

Does anyone know if there is a possibility to have too many mods? I have about 100 GB of mods, all updated too. I run sims on a PC with a 3080, i7-12700K, and 32 GB of ram. it is pretty slow fps-wise, like I'm talking for the past couple of days I've been playing on 18 fps. this helped a bit and now I'm running about 150 but if I go to cas or build buy my game is screwed up until I close it and open it again. I have plenty of storage left on my SSD about 400 GB, and I'm not usually this dumb when it comes to technology but I cannot fix sims for the life of me. every game I play has great fps like 200+. the Sims is the only game that stuggles!?
I really want to have a smooth running game but i cant part with my mods, i love having all the options. lol
this might be a late response but try overclocking your cpu, it made my game faster
So I’ve got the problem when I opened yesterday the game there was like 120 fps and now it’s 60 and below how can I fix it and is it normal that my gpu usage is low

Hey loved your inputs in this video but I also would like to ask if it is safe to delete our saves except for the most recent archive and keep playing the game normally?
If you are not intending to play with those old saves anymore, then yes! In any case, I would suggest cutting those old ones + pasting them into a new folder that you create on your Desktop (you can call it old saves) in case you open the game & notice that you’ve accidentally removed a save that you want to play with!
Or using the sims 4 tray importer to delete households is even better because it shows you exactly what family you’re deleting (it shows you the photo of that family & the files associated with it)
i have 100% cpu but it's like 3 EA's just using everything up everything is 0% what do I do lol

@@Darielle i don’t knowwww 😭😭 I don’t use cc I only use gameplay mods, also i have this weird thing where i can’t use arrows to move no more , i have to click n drag across the map it’s mad annoying 😭😭 do u also have a fix for that

Ohh, been there! You can try to take a look at your downloads & desktop folders, decluttering those 2 locations really helps 🙏
Omg now I realize I was commenting on my old account 😂😂😂 btw I cleaned everything and yet had to take away all my script mods (three XD)
Since I already have all of my CC in my folder, if I delete my downloads will it delete the CC in my folder?
When I open up my sims 4 game the beginning is laggy then it exits out
In my cc folders I have all the cc I see in my downloads, do I still delete the downloads
If the cc are already located in the mods folder (aka you copied + pasted them into the mods folder when you installed them), then those are already installed in the game, so yes, you can delete the same cc from your downloads folder.
The game being laggy can be due to broken mods. Try to open your Mods folder > type in the search bar ‘ts4script’ & write down the name of each mod. Then select all those files that end with ts4script & delete them
You can afterwards google their names & only download & install the updated mods inside your Mods folder
