When I started to learn Hebrew- the CZcams algorithm lead me to Israeli Musicals. Love them soo much and the songs are extremely catchy.
Woah! I'm such a musical fan I need to look into these!
Fauda is my favourite series ever! An incredible production and plot and it is even more incredible that it is inspired from real people's lives!
As well as The Spy and When Heroes Fall. BTW I miss Boaz in Fauda likely found When Heroes Fly
I totally agree!!
@@MyJewishMommyLife Thanks for replying! It really made my day đ„° I've been watching your channel for about a year now and I just want to say you are very inspiring and wonderful â€
It brillaint show awaiting new season.
Fauda
Tehran
Mossad 101
Hostages
when Heroes Fly
all are realistic and master piece.must watch
I loved Tehran! Iâm so glad itâs coming back for a second season
Can't wait!!
Great suggestions! One of my favorite Israeli shows is Srugim. It focus on religious singles in Jerusalem--kind of like Friends but so well done. I've recently subscribed to Izzy. It features TV series, documentaries, and movies from Israel with English subtitles. I'm currently enjoying Where do you Live? In Israel, the Bukharan community struggles between an older generation that wants a traditional life, and the younger generation which wants to build a new life.
Right on time! Iâm looking for a new show to watch. Me and my husband watched both Homeland and Fauda. We watched Homeland together while dating and then Fauda when I was pregnant; our sonâs middle name is inspired in one of the Fauda; we watched the last episode the night before his birth and when my husband saw him for the first time, he knew that was the name for him.
Spy and Fauda were incredible!!! I canât wait for series 4 of Fauda!!!! But in the meantime while I wait for itâs release I will definitely check out some of the other shows that you recommended âșïž
I have not watch a whole lot of Israeli and Jewish shows but these ones that you are describing look very interesting! You did a great job describing and explaining these shows. Thank you so much for another nice video beautiful Marion! â€ïž
Thanks so much I hope you love them if you check them out!
I would love to learn Hebrew. I saw Unorthodox, I actually really liked that movie
Can't wait to see the next season of Tehran. Probably the most exciting series from 2020
Abe Weismann was/is my absolute favorite character in Mrs Maisel. Canât wait for season three!
I LOVE Stizel! Also loved Unorthodox. I came here looking to find other Israeli films. Thanks for this đđŸ
Actually, I have to say I saw Unorthodox after I saw Stizel and the only reason I watched was for the lead actress. She is amazing! I wasn't wild about her life in Berlin but its supposed to be based on a true story so c'est le vie đđŸââïž. The final scene with her husband broke my heart! So well acted! đđŸ
I had to get Netflix to watch Shtisel ....love it !
It's so good!!
@@MyJewishMommyLife it is great, but just finished all 3 seasons :(
I recently watched Valley of Tears. Cried a lot, but loved the show.
Definitely a tear jerker!
Great video. Iâve been very much enjoying Israeli films and tv series. Shtisel, Fauda, and Valley of Tears are particularly strong in my view. I agree with your thoughts on unorthodox.
Youâre very welcome!
I loved this video particularly because Iâve seen all of these
I absolutely loved Shtissel! It's a bit of a slow paced show and yet it had me sitting on the edge of my seat because I wanted to know what would happen next to the characters. Also, the Hebrew language is so, so beautiful! I watched it with subtitles because I don't speak it. Currently, I am watching Tehran and I find it mind-blowingly good. :-)
I subscribe to "ChaiFlicks" which features all Israeli & Jewish programming. My favourite series are "Srugim" which follows thirtysomething Modern Orthodox young people living in Jerusalem--wonderful show! Also "The New Black" which is about a foursome of Haredi yeshiva students in Jerusalem. Both of these series have excellent character development, great stories--dramatic and comedic--and you can learn so much about Judaism and Jewish culture without all the violence of so many Israeli movies and series. I know many love these shows, but I am too sensitive for them so stick to these more gentle shows. I would also put Shtisel at the very top; it is absolutely brilliant! Thank you, Marion! Nicely done and quite informative.
Oh I loved âSrugim,â forgot about that one! Great recommendation.
You didnât mention my all time favorite Jewish movie...Loving Leah!!! So good!
My favorites are
- Fauda
- when heroes fly
- Tehran
- Blackspace
This is a coincidence to find your video as I was looking for Israeli films and shows to watch lately. Hmm, algorithms. I always loved Israel and I'm studying Hebrew lately. Trying! I love history and read a lot about Israeli history and am re-reading Six Days of War by Michael Oren and enjoy stuff like that about current events. Someone recommend me about Sh'at Neila, Valley of Tears. That is my type of show so I am looking forward to watching. I will definitely be checking out Fouda as well as that looks right up my alley.
I have watched a few of your videos lately and enjoy. Take care
I just watched all 3 seasons of Shtisel! and Oh My! loved it!
I'm going to review the 3rd season as soon as I finish it!
@@MyJewishMommyLife I'm sure you're going to love it! I know I did.
Fauda is best of my life , I watching so many times
I always love your suggestions. I've had The Spy on my list since its release. But, we are the watch 1 thing at a time people. So we are almost done with the show we are watching and will definitely start with that before moving on to your other suggestions.
It's definitely gripping!!
@@MyJewishMommyLife I just finished Shtisel. It was really good. I looked it up to see if there will be another season and I'm really happy that they are already planning the next season, which will take place 5 years or something after the last episode.
Thank you for this list! I love Shtisel. It has such a wonderful ensemble cast. It is a beautiful representation of family dynamics. So happy to hear they will be back for another series! I also love Mrs. Maisel and Unorthodox A LOT. Just checked out Zero Motivation and it is not offered on Prime (where I live) ? I will be sure to check out the other shows you mentioned đ
I totally agree, such great shows!!
Saturday afternoon. What to do ? How about Season 1 of
Mrs Maisel ? Great !
Thank you Marion
I agree with your list. I do not have anything Apple so I cannot see that one. I was a 15 year old during the Yom Kippur Day War. It was a scary time.
Nice list. One thing is important to mention is that Unorthodox has lots of yiddish, which is such a rarity these days.
I watch Mrs Maisel and I also saw Shtisel very very very very good
Agreed!
Iâm not Jewish, I did however get hooked on Shtisel! My only complaint; Akivaâs dad was eating in just about every episode and he would smack his lips which was very irritating. Other than that itâs a great show! Oh, and Shira Haas was quite the scene stealer!! Definitely going to check out the other shows recommended in this video!
I think that annoying detail about Akivaâs father adds to the authenticity, not necessarily as a Jewish thing, just as a thing some people do. Iâm sure it was a choice the director approved.
@@Historian212 Maybe, but it was certainly annoying!! đ
I cant believe you are so close to 40k!!
Aww thank you so much it's so exciting!!
I'm trying to learn Hebrew so this should be helpful. Thank you for your wonderful content!
You are so welcome!
I'm learning Hebrew. ŚȘŚŚŚ ŚšŚŚ
1. Hostages
2. Hit and Run
3. Fauda
4. Teheran
5. When heroes fly
6. Mossad 101
I would like to watch: "Assalum City", "Your Honor" and "Commandents", fyi: those are series and the next 2 titles are movies made in connection with the Mexican Jewish Community:
1. Morirse esta en Hebreo
2. Salsa en Tel Aviv
Have a great day and best regards. Shalom
Thanks Ma'am. Now I'm gonna dive into the illegal world of torrent to hunt and download every single one of them shows. La'chaim from India.
Fauda is my all time fav
Unorthodox is great show. From New York
I love the interfaith-friendship movie "Arranged" about an Orthodox Jewish woman and a Muslim woman both who are happy, both teachers and both experiencing an arranged marriage.
Thanks for suggesting that one!!
LOVE that one. Although I donât think the Jewish family is portrayed as being as nice as the Muslim one, I donât think that was deliberate. Just how it seemed to me.
Did you see âA Price Above Rubiesâ (stars Renee Zellweger playing a Haredi woman) or âA Stranger Among Us,â in which Melanie Griffith is an undercover cop who lives with a Hasidic family in Brooklyn to solve a case? Or, even older, âThe Chosenâ? All good movies about orthodox Jews based in NYC.
Have you seen Hashoter Hatov? Maktub? Crazy TV series and a crazy movie
Yes!! So funny!
I love Israel culture đthanks ..good video
Thank you!
Are you familiar with the Jewish show One of Us on Netflix? Secondly, I would like to recommend the movie Brooklyn Babylon to you as well. It's a great movie.
Thanks for the suggestion! I've been recommended One of Us but haven't watched it yet and no I haven't heard of Brooklyn Babylon!
@@MyJewishMommyLife Type 'Brooklyn Babylon' into the search engine. You could buy it maybe on Amazon.
Israeli tv shows and movies are best....I have watched each one of them...love from India.. â€ïž
Thanks!
Loved Srugim.
Not an Israeli show, but what are you thoughts on the HBO series, âA Plot Against Americaâ?
I haven't seen it, I'll check it out!
Genuine question.
Do you consider yourself middle Eastern ?
Fauda is about shin bet not the israeli army
Between SATC and Friends what U.S shows was your favourite ? đ€
Definitely SATC lol I liked friends but was never obsessed with it. SATC I own and have watched every ep multiple times lol!
Season 6 is everything! Lol
Shtisel â€
Nice
Do you have family problem in Israel?
I enjoyed Zero Motivation because of the comedy. I'm not into the war, spy stuff.
Very dark comedy but funny!
@@MyJewishMommyLife definitely. i take what I can since most shows are just dramas. I also like Shrugim for the romance. I couldn't get into the first episode of Shtissel, but I will probably try again since options are limited.
Hello from Israel :)
OH YES I LOVE WATCHING ISRAELI MOVIES
Im just trying to learn hebrew by watching them
Nice shows
I enjoyed Shtisel. At the same time, I wanted to smack the crap out of every man in the series. Such whining! C'mon guys, be a mensch!
Lol oh my goodness, so accurate!
The first show is âShtisel,â not âShtissel,â for those trying to Google it. âMarvelous Mrs. Maiselâ is very enjoyable while being extremely problematic for many reasons, as you mention. BTW her parents arenât played by Jews, either, and Iâve never known any Jews who act like them, even as comedic exaggerations. (Iâm Jewish.) I do love Rachel Brosnahan as an actress, and I accept it that her character isnât meant to be ânormal.â All three Maisels are played by Jewish actors, and even though the parents are cringey comedic stereotypes, at least I can relate to them. Also, I was a child during the time period, and thereâs a lot thatâs over-stylized and inauthentic to those years. Nobody put crystals under their pillow in 1961, or took daily fertility injections. For instance. I just flinch at some of these references. BTW the actor who plays Lenny Bruce is also not Jewish, but heâs brilliant. So itâs not just about whether or not the actors are themselves Jewish.
Possibly the most offensive thing has nothing to do with Jewishness: Jane Lynchâs attempt to do a Queens accent when she plays Sophieâs comedic character is just a violation. Itâs mostly Chicago mixed with some Boston. Abysmal.
For a 10th film, Iâd recommend 2007âs âThe Bandâs Visit.â Incredibly sweet, with a wonderful message about people being people across ethnic and national boundaries. Thereâs also the recent streaming series, âThe Beauty Queen of Jerusalem,â based on the bestselling novel. I think there have been two seasons, Iâm hoping for a third. Features Michael Aloni, the star of âShtisel.â
I love irael and jewish
How would one get around hiring only Jews for Jewish roles or only Italians for Italian roles or only heterosexual people for straight roles without saying, "Gay Irish Gentiles need not apply?" And the producers, writers, and directors are responsible for what gets onto the show as being representative of Jewish life. So maybe there need to be more Jewish writers on the program. The Billy Kwan character in "The Year of Living Dangerously" could not have been played better by anyone else and the white American actor chosen by the white Aussie director was so perfect and powerful that it is one of the all-time greatest motion picture performances EVER. And yet, so I don't ruin it for you, you will fall over to realize who the actor is doing it back then. It was an artistic decision quite deliberately made by the director. It will knock you over, if you have never seen it. The character asks deep moral, sexual, religious questions throughout. On what channels are these programs shown? I watch so little that I did not know of most of them. I used to go to the local Jewish YM/WHA for their Jewish Film Series, which had many superb movies done often in Scandinavian countries. But I have no idea where to find these on TV???
đ
I would like to try Jewish food
đ„°đ„°đ„°âïž
Unorthodox the book was so much better and didn't focus on her life on her life in Berlin so much.
Fauda-they're a counterterrorism unit of the IDF.
BEST BEST ISRAELI SHOW EVER
Depending on how you view Valley of Tears , it might be dubbed in English , rather than subtitled in English .....The dubbed version is awful !
My comment was blocked, because I tolld the truth about Unorthodox being anti jewish.
WE HINDUS LOVE AND RESPECT OUR JEWS BROTHERS & SISTERS OF GREAT LAND OF ISRAEL..
LONG LIVE JEWS LAND ..LONG LIVE SANATAN BHARAT..đźđłđźđ±đïžđ
Popular opinion but ignored.... There's no land on earth that's called Israel. So it's kind of confusing when u say... It takes place in Israel. You should've specify that these are fictional Jewish TV shows
What are you even talking about? Thereâs a country called Israel, it was voted into existence by the UN and is recognized under International Law. âIsraelâ is also mentioned in ancient texts, for example Omri king of Israel being mentioned in a Moabite stele, and also a mention of another king of Israel in an Akkadian source. Those arenât Jewish sources. Or are you going full-on tinfoil hat?
@@Historian212 01: Jewish/ Christians sources aren't to believe at 100% because they rewrote the words of god and changed Torah/ Bible to what they wanted.
02: You simply need to read the history of the people of Moses aka Jewish to understand that they're build like that, they lie, decieve and do whatever benifits them because they think they're the favourite people of God (They were once before they stood against the word of God). of course I'm not talking about all the jewish but let's say if i'm not wrong 75% of them. It's very popular in historical books that they killed so many messangers of God because they didn't like the rules of God.
03: Jewish people have a long History of been lost in the earth of God, because it was thier punishement for denying God's word, they've been kicked off from many places. Now you can't deny history to know that these people are cursed however they went under many powerful people to get on thier feet (Illumanti that is basically now trying to take over the world starting from USA/LGBQ/P**N NETFLEX...and so on and on). So basically not the US who gave them thier right to have a country, they gave themselves that right.
04: last and not least, I do invite you to revisit your history resources, and not blindly go through the facts.
Yeah, Unorthodox was really bad.
Btw, you forgot "Our Boys"!!!
What is your problem!
India love jews
Boycott the apartheid state
