- In this how too video tutorial I converted my Raleigh stonefly bicycle into a folding bike for better transport in the car boot (trunk) I am very pleased with this DIY project and enjoy recycling and reusing much better than buying new. The only problem is I find is when stopped and I stand forward from the seat I can feel the top hinge pressing into my legs

This guy is a badass engineer. This takes years of experience, it should be a crime not to share this talent he's got. He should open a dojo or something. Just like Andrew Ritchie, this country is full of these brilliant people hiding in the shadows, and they shouldn't be. What a great video. I love this stuff

Great job Sean. Im looking for a video of someone converting a hardtail bike to full suspension. There isn't a single video anywhere of anyone attempting this. You certainly have all the tools required for such a job.

What you can do to make it faster to fold up or get ready is keep a cheap drill with an Allen key bit in your car.

why is the hinge end made of tube in three pieces ? cud it not be one single piece
of tubing on both sides of square hinge bracket?

Would it be better to have smaller tube inserted into the bike tube and then put the bosses on and Quick release skewer in?

Great job. But you did not show how to line up two hinges. it is the most tricky part. I noted this since I have converted a trek 1.2 which is aluminum into a holding bike.

I would've done one with full suspension and also put a hub motor on it.

You know an Allen key turn would achieve turning the handle bars without the quick release.

I didnt think that was necessary as it was still just an ordinary bike
Can the hinges be welded horizontally to the upper and lower tubes of the frame, to avoid discomfort when standing on top tube? could you do it again please?

As a "Lanky prick" it seems getting a folding bicycle that fits me and dont cost more than a car is a problem, so been looking into doing this (To a hybrid). More worried about if im going touring and have all my bits on the bike as well as my big self

Shame it was a steel bike though.
The bike I used was actually a pretty good bike when it came
out about 18 years ago which is why I chose it, much better quality than the
steel framed garbage you get today, now finished it rides flawlessly unlike the
tron LED bike which creeks and rides like a sack of ****
