3. indian red top coat (main color/ shadow color)
4. flat black (dark creasing/ dirt areas)

Great job, I'm going to try this on my 52 GMC
Awesome, will suit a 52 GMC 👌
muito bom!!!
I think it looks cool. :)
Awesome , I'm happy you enjoyed the video !
I'm a rattle can freak. I love it.
Awesome ! , It's easier than washing the gun out between coats and colour changes...
You explained it very well I like it thank you very much
Thankyou Sir , I'm glad it has helped you , share your project on our facebook page when your finished
That would look primo with some satin lacquer on now.
👍
Fuck me dead! I'm doing this on my welding rig.
Looks awesome. Agreed that a lot of folks go way overboard with it, I think yours is just about perfect. What colors would you use if you wanted this in white? I was thinking red oxide primer then a brown/gold followed by white. Wanted to keep my truck's original Wimbledon white color.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, I would start by considering what the factory would have used as etch primer , base coat and top coat
I like it!
Thanks Bro , I appreciate the encouragement :)
I love it. Could I try this finish on some previously rusty arches that have been filled with Bondo?
Awesome tips! How would you do this with an all black paint job? Hoping to give this vibe to an old motorcycle I am building.
Paul , consider how the factory would layer their paint , etch colour , primer then top coat , this will help you replicate the patina

Wouldnt you put the black under a light coat of red then rub it back so it looks like natural progression of paint breakiñg down.
it already has black primer base coat
Very nice! Is there a sealer put on after your done? Matt / Flat
I haven't touched it being enamel spray paint it hasn't changed appererence since I painted it, it has a naturally flat finish from the gloss being nocked back from the 1200 wet and dry sand paper
So you sprayed this all in enamel? I was thinking I needed to use acrylic to get it hard enough to sand it back?
Yes enamel spray can, soapy water will stop the paper building up quickly with the soft enamel
Really want to do this to my bug. The colours at the end of the video look a bit washed out compared to the thumbnail. Did it just need a wipe down to bring the colours out?
There is another Video ' how to protect your patina" where I preserve the Patina look on my kombi , thumbnail is the finished product of this process
hi, could you tell me if you put the black paint coat over the red whilst the red was still wet ? or was it dry ?
Dusted over the paint when it's still tacky , helps it etch into the layers
@@EverythingAnthonySOS Hi, thanks alot for the reply, thats great !
@@mikecole1827 no worries happy to help 👍
what grit sandpaper works the best for the effect
I used wet and dry #400 and finished with #800 when I was close to be happy with the effect plenty of soapy water too
so the black coat is waterbased? how long did you let dry it until you sanded is?
Hi there , base coat is Black 2k primer which you will see me apply in my other video, every other layer in this video is Enamel paint with quick dry thinners for the gun and standard rattle can paint for the patina , next day for heavy coat's a few hours later for rattle can when misting the colours as it was in the middle of summer around 40-50 deg C in the steel garage ;)
Tried looking for more vids or pics of this bug? Is there any?
Hi there you won't find any further photo's or uploads as I haven't made any , is there something specific you needed to know..?
@@EverythingAnthonySOS hi, thanks for reply, i am wanting the same look you got and have a red vehicle, was just after more pics of the overall finished look, like the thumbnail its great 👍
What did you use as your "Top Coat"?
enamel ,Indian red ,matte black ,cherry red layered , then wet and dry
I’m confused your explanation on which coats where first second and third
Please can you give us a update
Race ya at Warwick? 😝
Sure thing Bro ,not sure what year it will be ready...2050.?????.. ;)
