- This evening we took down the last tree for the Hobby Garage Build, this one was a Walnut! I think we only have four Walnut Trees remaining. I used the Kubota KX-080 Excavator, Kubota MX 5400 Tractor and Stihl MS 261 Chainsaw.

Watching you operate that excavator is like poetry in motion. Nothing like watching somebody that knows what they are doing. Keep up the good work y'all!!
Always an enjoyment to watch the equipment being used as a extension of the operator
An excavator is hypnotic, and a narrator who has kept herself up so well is like the cherry on top. LOL
Great progress. Hunter in the background watching that tree fall from the driveway. "Got a mouse in your pocket?"...love it, my kids will be hearing that one. Thanks for the cheery video guys, cold and rainy winters day here.. #SmileLikeAMorgan!. Thanks from one of your Aussie viewers.
It's such a pleasure watching your videos Mike & Melissa !! Keep em coming folks.
There’s nothing quite like having all the right tools and the skill to efficiently operate them all!
Nothing like the smell of fresh cut walnut , just finished cutting and splitting one up . I even like the smell of the walnuts like Melissa had . I look forward to every video!! Take care .
I agree about watching big machinery at work. Grew up in South Georgia, on a dirt road and would sit all day watching the road scraper, and especially when they did the ditches because they came by at least four times. Keep up the great videos. Love y’all ❤️💜💙💚
I saw Hunter come out by the garage to check out the tree going down before Melissa commented on his interest in the excavator. That was awesome hello Hunter!
I sat back in my chair, looked up toward the ceiling and laughed out loud...when and how Melissa said "WE" to the clean up! Thank you Morgan's, I needed that! Have a day!!
I don’t know about anyone else, but there’s something satisfying about watching an excavator at work. They are definitely one of the most versatile machines. Have a great weekend. Jason from Indiana.
Love watching Mike operate the equipment. Must be great to put all your experience to use for yourself and family.
Wow so fascinating watching a guy use a bunch of free stuff...
Kids so like to see the big toys being used but so do us old foggies. Stay safe.
Wow it was impressive watching that chainsaw work through that walnut. I am sure there are woodworkers all over the country lusting after that walnut :-)
Good job, nice operating that machine. Not much lumber from that walnut, but, any walnut lumber is better than no walnut lumber, and, walnut is my favorite wood. Have a great day.
Mike's going to put up a big flag pole. Fly that flag with pride Mike.
Right On!!
Now All he has 2 do is put up a P .O W . M I. A . FLAG UNDER THE AMERICAN FLAG.,!
Michigan, loving the weather and enjoy watching you. Thanks.
Mike Your doing an excellent job! Melissa Your doing an excellent job commentating! Y’all have a day!
I Love watching you I'm in Jacksonville Florida and have 2 acres of land all cleared except the fence line and I will be going to clearing it out but eventually I will be putting up a big garage workshop in the back yard watching you is going to help me on how you do things removing stumps and roots thank you
Ever since I subscribed to your channel and became an avid viewer, I’ve been more motivated to work on improving our property. Prior to watching your channel, I had very little interest in doing any type of outdoor projects. For four years I let things go, first I was in graduate school and most of my time was spent working on getting my Masters degree. The last two years I was busy running marathons and training. Because of coronavirus pandemic, I’ve spent more time at home and getting a lot accomplished with cutting and splitting wood, rebuilding my deck and garage. Thank you for rekindling my enthusiasm for working to improve my property. From Highgate,Vermont.
Thats awesome!
Love watching Mike work and Melissa narrate !!! Things are coming along!!Have a day!
Good morning Morgans. Great video. Have a great weekend. God Bless.
I love watching Dr Mike perform surgery with that shovel!
Phil from Kansas City here. How is everyone? Hot and muggy weather is back, spending the weekend at home with my special needs daughter Elizabeth. Have a Day.
Been watching for along time you really put some time and expense into your vids , glad you realize most of us cannot do what your doing. Thanks for the fantasy. 😀
Thank you for showing the work being done by you. Maybe have a guest room on the second floor of the garage
Great video guys. I am very impressed with your operateing skills. It takes a lot of life to get that good. Looking forward to the coming videos. Have a good evening you two and Melissa keep being mesmerized by that excavater.
He handles that machine like he's eating with a spoon! Great operator!
Love your dimples girl. Great machine work Mike!!
It never slows down on the farm. We received our new Massey Ferguson tractor and bush hog today. We traded the 2 wheel drive Kubota for this 4 wheel drive model. We didn’t have a front loader for 9 years and needed to replace our bush hog. We got a super deal. So it’s win all the
way around.
Another great video. My little grandson (who will be three in mid September) loves to watch the excavator .... He wants papaw to buy him one just like that one..lol.. Stay safe... 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Never waste walnut!! It is my opinion that it is the most beautiful of the hard woods. 💝😊😊👍👍👍
I'm in Texas watching my main man Mike Morgan from a wheelchair. It can still be exciting watching someone do what you can't do. Blessings Mike & Melissa.
☝🙏🇺🇸💪👉...Praying that God grants you His Grace and resources to accomplish all that concerns you.
Mellisa, YOU too could be a equipment operator. Bet you never thought you would drive the tractors and run the chipper. The rental agreement probably doesn't allow any body but Mike. Great show. good to see Hunter watching in the background. Take care
well I not a kid iam 61 really enjoy your shows keep it up and god bless u all
Mike has a good touch for operating the equipment.
Yea Mike has skilz. Fun to watch, don’t think my wife quite gets it... lol. Although she knows how much I enjoy it when I’m on my little Kubota.
Sure do love the look of walnut! Looking forward to seeing how that looks after you get it on the mill
We enjoy watching. Running heavy equipment is so cool. Mike you have a great touch running the equipment.
Can't hardly wait to see your next video.
Jake and Vernice.
Also to Mike and other homestead channels i watch like ,Daniel,Dutch,Kevin i need to say to you how lucky you are all to have great wives hard working, supportive so GOD BLESS YOU ALL
I too had a KX 80 when I was a kid. Loved it!
Lol
Hi from New Zealand, the root system under tree's is amazing isn't it?. Even with lack of rain they still survive. Even when someone is chasing them with an excavator 😂
Site is looking good guys, great job
Another great video for this amazing project! I cannot tell you how grateful I am that you guys are sharing every step of the way! As I am recovering from my recent surgery, this is truly one of the highlights of my day. Although, it is bittersweet, as I am not able to lift anything more than 10 lb for 6 weeks! I will literally be like a caged animal by that time! Thank you for letting me live "through you guys"!!!!
🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏👏
Good afternoon Hunter ;-)
Always enjoy the videos, hello Hunter. Last weekend of vacation so our oldest son and I are going to go magnet fishing tomorrow and hope we get something. Yes there is magnet fishing on CZcams. Hope to go to Illinois river or a lake or pond around Peoria Illinois. BK is on the list for Hunter tomorrow. Tractor on from west central Illinois
Good job on he walnut Mike. Glad to know you are gonna save it and run it thru the sawmill... I found out a couple of weeks ago that the Ash Bore Beetle has landed at my farm. Good thing is not to much damage yet and seems to only be in one patch of the timber..
Love watching your videos. Very helpful My! My excavator arrives on Monday have it for a week, to clean up the ponds.
You make it look easy nice work thanks for sharing
Awesome mike great work when I built my garage last fall it was the same way, lots of work myself but satisfying! Especially in site preparation
Morgan's, You made quick work out of taking down the rest of the trees and you did it so safely, Well Done. Looking forward to you setting up the ground to be built upon and looking forward to all that you have planned with this piece of equipment. Thank you so much for sharing with your wonderful family. Oregon Gerlach's
Good job Mike and Melissa, getting it all ready for the building. Thanks for sharing with us, always enjoy watching, Fred.
Love the music on this one! Good work.
HELLO from chihuahua mexico, thank you for the video and GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

I like the citrusy smell of the walnuts.
Mike and Melissa I loved watch your videos withe the equipment. My geabdfatger was a steam shovel operator and in later years he operated soil moving equipment. But he passed away in 1958 when I was 8 years old.nibgave always operated equipment when i could. It's in my blood. I'm never operated a tracker but would like too as it looks like fun.
Thanks for your vdeos,
Mike, your years of experience are showing as you use ALL the equipment. It's fun to see a pro get'n it all done.
OMG, I cried seeing that big walnut tree go down!
Pie Town Larry
I'm in eastern PA right on the Delaware River ... we have a lot of Black Walnut here ... I took a half dozen smaller ones down when I moved in 5 years ago ... decided to just leave the stump as the root system is big and tough ... no need to yank them, trenched them out and cut below grade ... drilled them with a 1 inch bit, 2 inches deep to hold water and covered with soil/grass .... damn things are still there, barely breaking down ... I left the mature ones as the squirrels eat the walnuts all winter ... and I make Black Walnut tincture from the dried hulls .... old Indian Medicine .... many believe you can't burn black walnut ... but it's a decent hardwood and burns well in a stove ... funny, being new to the area I've noticed there is no, or little Oak on the river ... the area was an early settlement and most Oak has been cut for wood ... but drive a half mile away from the river and most of the old growth around the farmland is still solid oak ... nice work on the excavator Mike ... like flying a Helocraft, it becomes a Zen thing where the machine just becomes an extension of your limbs ... I'm a retired builder, so I miss the days of running heavy equipment ... but need to put in some drainage pipe to lessen the hydro static water pressure on the house foundation (was reminded again with the deluge we got last Tuesday... we got 7 inches of rain in an hour, and I'm at the bottom of a mountain just before the river) .. I'm in an old rock quarry cut into the mountain (horseshoe) used to build the Delaware canal across the street ... grading/drainage is good but there is a high spot between the culvert that connects under the road exiting into the canal ... so I think I'll just rent a Mini-X and put in 50 ft of 10in perf pipe to connect back yard to the culvert as access it tough for a big machine ... *I hope Hunter is doing well with the lock-down changes and all the activity around the place ... and give Archie a big smooch from us ... he's growing like a weed, and lucky to have the older goldens to guide him to being a good boy ... can't wait to see the shop/garage or plans ... and it will be nice to have more room to store stuff and work in a heated building ...
Gait Hill Richmond, VA Seeing that Walnut come down is enough too make a old man cry !
You got Nathan's attention with that crotch wood Walnut. 👍
Agreed, watching heavy equipment is oddly therapeutic for me too. Milwaukee Condo Dweller - what am I doing? Sitting on my butt watching Outdoors with the Morgans. Few things are as entertaining lately. Take Care and see Ya Soon.
Good Afternoon Morgan's! Melissa your such a hoot. Yep your right mike about not building on roots. Once they decay you can have major shifting, settling and cracking of your concrete and your structure. Not to mention termits and ants. Hope all are well. Tell the family hello. Be safe and have a day
As I’m recovering from gull bladder surgery ad watching your videos it’s reminding me of the projects I still have to complete around the house. I’m thankful for the time off but disappointed that I can’t work on anything yet. Friendsville Tennessee
Hey Mike don't forget that concrete from that fence post. Hate for you to run into it when running plumbing or electrical. Great to watch a professional at work.
Lake Stevens, WA
The Mikester motivated me dig a nice burn pit for all the scotchbroom I’m digging up.
Planning on putting up three flags... US, Navy and Seahawks
The Walnut would make some great bowl blanks. The time for rough turning is now, let them age until the wood dries out and finish turning.
Good afternoon from the MidMo crowd. Still in NC, heading west tomorrow early. I couldn’t believe the fence post pulled out of the concrete! “We’re gonna get a BIG flagpole”! Melissa coming up from downstairs. Y’all are priceless!
Yea I was surprised that post came out like that
My wife and I just got shirts like yours Melissa last week while on our vacation week at our cabin in Potter county, Pa.
someone may want that walnut stump. would make great turning blanks
We have 3 walnut trees. After the storm on Tuesday, the ground was covered with walnuts. You could hardly walk across the yard. Lol
Thanks for the video Mike and Melisa hope it's cooler up in Pa. I was originally from NE PA now I'm in Winter Haven Fl and it is 3.30 and 93deg with 90% humidity. Can't wait to see the new building.
Kinzua, i used to love going there for a week for camping.. Can never have enough walnut trees.. i got 1 at home and about 50 at the farm... The green nuts make awesome air fresheners in the truck.. I love the smell of them :)
Great stuff....this will be a wonderful project to watch thru completion.
Randy here , Dallas Oregon, what I’m doing, I operate hazelnut orchard , doing orchard floor prep prior to nut harvest in October.
Those green hull black walnuts are actually pretty valuable. In the natural medicine world, they make a powerful tincture used to kill bacteria, viruses and parasites. The book I'm referencing is "The Cure For All Diseases". Interesting and informative.Could be quite valuable these days.
I always enjoy watching someone that knows how the equipment is supposed to work. You are a way better excavator operator than I am. I'm more of a loader operator. Love my loaders, especially if equipped with a clam shell bucket.
MELISSA !! .. How cool is it that YOU narrated the Video!!.. it was kinda like when Bob Villa narrated his old show on PBS.. This Old House!!... way to go !!... great video! thank you. :)
In Texas working on a small water feature (pondless waterfall). I got to use my Ventrac 4500 to rip out some old hedges so I can plant a Japanese Maple next to the feature. Love your channel and watching you work those machines. Looking forward to the build!!
I just discovered your channel and have been bing watching ever since. This leaves me with a burning question. How much land do you have there? It seems like you have an extensive property with many diverse types of land, waterways, ponds, trees, etcetera. A gold mine in and of itself. Take the time to enjoy it in between the times you are working it!
Great video guys. I’m looking forward to seeing some earth moving very soon. Hi Hunter, we saw you watching the walnut tree being felled from a safe distance. Take care everyone and stay safe.
Awesome , you can tell that Mike has quite a bit of experience with the big equipment !
Great video! Thanks!
Love that walnut!!!!!
Black walnut cookies. Yum!!
I am looking forward to seeing the Walnut after it's been through the mill.
First up for once. I like watching the mini work. Hello Hunter. The Morgan Action Center will start taking shape soon. Thanks for sharing your video with us. Ed
Great narrating Melissa!
Nice job Mike, looking great!
Nice job Mike!!
Mike the walnut is beautiful but as a woodworker in my opinion there is nothing more beautiful than PA cherry!
Agree
Pick a nice spot or two in the woods and plant a nice walnut Grove!
Melissa, well you asked ....so today, I dug up my moms rhubarb that she planted over 50 years ago, my wife wanted it cause she bakes pies. moved it to our place, hope it takes.!
The roots are over 2in in diameter!
Always entertaining and informative content. Melissa, keep on smiling....it's contagious...good contagious ...lol
I ended up buying a used excavator recently. I need to do a little work to it, but have already been removing stumps clearing an area for a new chicken run and another area on the property for a new deck. An excavator is SO much easier to use than a backhoe. Makes me wish I had not spent the money on the backhoe.
Good show fella. Making it work. Love it when a plan comes together.
If I remember correctly the green walnut husk smells like citrus. Melissa if you save me some of the walnut wood I'll turn a bowl or something for you to remember the tree by...
Can't wait to see you cut the walnut on the sawmill. Have a productive day.
I live in Rhode Island and my favorite hobby is watching people do hard work!😂😂
