- In this video I fish two different Maryland rivers for smallies. I had to wade out into the river to find the good spots, but the effort was well worth it. I was not able to catch any big fish, but I caught a good number of smallmouth bass. The Potomac and the Monocacy rivers are great smallmouth fisheries in the state of Maryland. Big ones are hard to come by, but the numbers of smallies in these rivesr will hone your skills and help you find those big smallies. Subscribe for more fishing content. Thanks for watching!

They were all pretty small, but you got the numbers 👍. Still bigger than the 5 inch smallies I catch.
Yeah the Monocacy is full of small smallies. You should fish for smallmouth more often!

Both great rivers for smallmouth. And the water levels have been very low recently, making it easy to get around. In the Monocacy, I've seen some huge crayfish but I catch by best not on imitations but on topwater.
Yeah the rivers are very low. I thought about top water but decided on the jerkbait. I’ve seen loads of cray fish too but nothing too big.

Welcome to the channel! Umm I haven’t really thought about it. I don’t fish ponds a ton, I’m more into rivers and lakes, but I’ll think about it.
Awesome little catches. Ive been wanting to hit the Monocasy and Potomac for a while. Do you mainly hit the area where the 2 rivers meet? I'm trying to find the best place to park and look around , maybe try to follow the Mono up.
Thank you. I don’t have a specific place where I mainly fish on those rivers. I’ve tried many different places all along the river. If you want to fish the rivers right now, you should probably wait a week or so, they’re very flooded due to all the rain we’ve had. Good luck👍🏽🎣
I know! And it's supposed to rain more days this week so that kills my plans for the Mono this weekwnd. Guess I'll head up to Clopper or Seneca. Have ya had any luck bank fishing there?
In previous years yeah, but I haven’t fished there this year yet.
What access points do you use for monocacy and Potomac?
Monocacy Route 28 Bridge. For Potomac I just walk along the C&O canal to find spots. Good luck
