    Here's a fun weapon class specific tech that I adore: brushes can immediately squidroll out of a brush roll. The input is a little tight as you have to let go of ZR then do the squidroll input very quickly to get the roll to come out, if you're too slow on the B press you'll instead just get a wimpy little swim form jump. I personally find it a lot easier with the inkbrush for whatever reason, but it's possible on the octobrush as well.

    For any brush players: if you are in your """rolling""" mode but need to turn 180 fast, sub strafing still works! But you can also do a squid roll to do a 180 (or any direction) by going into squid form and instantly flicking in the direction you want to go. I'm a Dualie Squelchers main and I can vouch that jump tech is absolutely worth learning! You will forget to use it quite often at first, but once it turns into a habit, it's a game-changer. People usually don't expect you to jump after a roll, and the time it takes for them to adjust their aim can often be enough to take em out. Could not recommend it enough :)

    Due to the length of the roller, the Big Swig Roller can quickly combo its horizontal swing into its roll to 2HKO a target. Just hit an opponent point-blank, keep ZR held down, and turn left or right! This works well with the squid roll horizontal swing tech since it shortens the distance to the target. The vertical swing is a OHKO attack but has to be precisely aimed, so having an option that requires practically no aim and is _faster_ is nice!

    Dunno if it's considered a tech but jumping with the scoped chargers is another thing people do a lot. If you're expecting an enemy to show up before you can see them, you can jump repeatedly while charging to delay the charge. This gives you the benefit of not being completely zoomed in when trying to hold an angle so you still have some vision to the sides. You also have part of your shot charged so when the enemy appears, you just have to stop jumping and the shot will be charged faster than if you had started charging just then.

    I'll have to remember that roller wall painting tech for when I have a roller in wave 1 Salmon...
    (Speaking of rollers and Salmon - Slow rolling is hugely useful tech that I wish more people knew about every other time I wind up in a rush wave and there's a roller in the comp. A bit more niche but you can trick the game into thinking you're moving by flicking your camera up and down, allowing you to more effectively take on stingers with rollers - I think there's a similar tech with rollers against drizzlers but I'm yet to actually pull that off in a shift)

  • @yosispring
    @yosispring Před rokem

    Awesome video! Some things I would add:
    - You can fire all 3 shots of Trizooka even after the timer runs out by mashing ZR.
    - You can hold down on the dpad before bringing up your map to make it easier to jump back to base (this also makes you say Booyah! of course).
    - Use a substrafe to quickly squid roll from standing still.
    - Jump with Tristringer to slow down how fast the reticles collapse.
    - Remember that how high you jump is determined by how long you hold the button (important for avoiding wavebreakers)
    - Looking at the map to see damaged opponents.
    - You can charge fizzy bomb by moving the left stick, jumping, or by shaking the controller, so use whichever is best for the situation (don't jump if the opponents are throwing splat bombs at you).

    • @James_The_Mario_Man

      You can also charge fizzy bomb by using the right stick too - even if you are using gyro, so your right stick's up/down is disabled, it still charges fizzy bomb. I find alternating up and down on both sticks to be the fastest way to charge a fizzy

  • @simsomsim8228
    @simsomsim8228 Před rokem

    I couldn't find anyone talking about this tech online but maybe it's already known about. Ballpoint is unique in that it moves much faster when charging than when firing (for the long-range mode at least). You can actually jump with that faster speed while firing by quickly tapping the charge button at the same time as you jump. It makes a huge difference in speed and has practically no downside, as the charge input can be as short as one or two frames if you tap it fast enough, and you can still hold jump for as long as you want (it just takes some practice). One main of intensify is enough to get perfect airborne accuracy, so I like to take it with run speed and drop roller for a fun aggressive mid-range playstyle.

  • @mattpadovano5044

    Another thing: Due to the decreased emerge time when holding a charge, the Goo Tuber is fairly unique in that it can 'main strafe' (sub strafing without holding the button) when holding the charge, which adds a lot to its movement and is fairly vital in charger vs. charger matchups when trying to approach.

    You can get perfect accuracy in the air by throwing a special like the wave breaker and then shooting midair

    For kraken you can squid roll out of the dash. It’s useful if the enemy doges so you can continue rushing them

    A fully cooked curling bomb explodes with the radius of a suction bomb, has a fuse timer comparable to splat bomb, and most notably, the fuse timer still ticks down while in midair. Pass them on enemy ledges or drop them off of Flounder Heights for some funny clips

    5:30 ur hitbox is also active while rolling on walls. I've gotten a few kills on people rushing or hiding up on walls by doing that, its really funny lol

    I don't know why, but getting an itch to play Splatoon 3 and finding your channel around the same time makes me think I need to buy the game and play the game. I just wanna know where I should start for control configs and what to look for with gear Mains n Subs.

    Small trick that's not super applicable with gameplay but can help with recording, if you hold up or down on your right stick, the automatic camera turn that happens when you move to the side won't happen. Not very effective to do during gameplay, but it helps a bit so you don't have to adjust the camera. It might just be because the stick is point a little to the side, but I never noticed any camera movement at all.

    I didn't know about sub strafing until a video chase made this was helpful

    For Rollers, why rolling, if you hit something that you can't OHKO with a squish, you will get pushed back a bit. However, if you quickly flick the control stick left or right upon the point of impact, you will get a slight speed boost in that direction. This can be used to escape, for a fake out, to surprise squish somebody etc. Try it on a brella shield, wave breaker, big bubbler etc!

    10:49 I’ve seen that you can also squid roll forward by sub strafing backwards and then squid rolling forward!

    Friendly reminder you can still squid roll with hold charge shots for chargers, this can give you a bit of a movement edge albeit minor!

    This one's kind of similar to sub strafing but it's technically weapon specific so I'll mention it.
    Brellas often want to swim directly out of their shield, especially when fighting someone. To do it quickly, you can keep a hold of ZR while you press ZL to enter swim form allowing you to immediately shift out of shield into swim. If you want to keep fighting, letting go of ZL will fire a shot as soon as possible. And, of course, you can always let go of ZR too if you don't want to shoot.
    It's hardly groundbreaking and possible with basically every other weapon, but I feel Brella's shield makes this a bit more noteworthy to them than other weapon types.
    Also, for the Sprinkler tip, you can place it directly on top of the Rainmaker as it respawns to trap it inside the shield to damage it from within. In Splatoon 2, a shield in the enemy's colour would destroy it but, as far as I know, this isn't the case in 3. The Sprinkler will keep fighting until it pops.

    Throwing any bomb at a splash wall will make it detonate instantly, so you can use this to either try to break the wall, or if an enemy is on the same side of the wall as you, you can use this to instantly kill them with the bomb

    This doesn't count as a tech but more of a fun fact some people noticed. With the Splatanas, is you tap swing and then hold fire once you swing to the left, you will now be charging your next attack from the left-handed position.
