  • Trolling for walleye after dark on Gull Lake in northern Minnesota. Great strategy for catching walleye during the dog days of summer. Fishing shallow sand flats with the Salmo Rattlin' Sting. Simple fishing technique that catches a lot of fish, especially during full moon periods all summer. Hands on holding the rod to give the lure more action. #nightimewalleye #walleyetrolling #afterdarkfishing #minnesotafishing

    I caught all my walleye right at dark around 8-9pm on saginaw bay, all caught on the same bandit in the same hole i was trolling through after the first catch.. was alone so only had 3 lines out, caught a limit before midnight. This was may 29th 2022

    I'm just love when the advertisement I'm watching is interrupted by more advertising. To many ads between the CZcams ads and those in the video. I'll watch something else without all the ads.

    Dont take it for granted. Im waiting on the mississippi river to stop flooding and for my local walleye lake to clean up a bit. Been waiting all year actually. Illinois....

    We do the same thing on Leech with #13 Rapalla stick baits except we don't jerk the bait. It's a blast.

    Loved the underwater shots in this episode. Nothing like seeing the eyes glow as they materialize out of the darkness.

    Awesome video. Thanks for responding to comments! Ever use a rubber net? I’ve found it really helps crankbait tangles

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  Před 5 lety +1

      +Shooter McGavin yes rubber nets work good but sometimes the big fish will bounce out of them.

    When do you use a crankbaits that has rattled vs non rattling?

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  Před 5 lety +3

      +Sunny Xiong I like to use Rattling lures a lot when the water is warmer in midsummer or if it is a dark night or if the water is dirty from wind but let the fish decide.

    You mention that fish can throw trebles much more than you’d think - do you find better connection with singles or trebles usually? And do you ever switch out one for the other?

    Did I see writing on the back of the crank bait? Do you write trolling depth on all your cranks?

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  Před 4 lety

      Bryan Lorence no the Salmo Stings have the lure model written on the back from the factory. Not a bad idea though!

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  Před 5 lety

      +Brandon McCoy absolutely. Other good spots on rivers include rip rap areas and clam beds.

    Jason does that work on the Missouri River?

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      Yes we catch a lot of fish trolling shallow on the sandbars but don’t troll the river much after dark except for the shoots below the tailrace and that is deeper on heavy three way rigs. Troll shallow early in the year. Often running inline planer boards

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  Před 5 lety +4

      +mattioder goes through most of the summer typically peaking each full moon cycle and often gets even better for big fish into the fall.

    If you do not mind sharing the size of the lake perhaps how many acres it is that would be fantastic I am from Ohio I have the Saugeye dialed in from September till July this time of the year I truly struggle. It breaks my heart that I have to go to The Rivers at night time with floating stick baits and shallow Shad raps to be able to catch quality fish I truly think this would be a fantastic program for shallow water night time fish could you also tell me what speed you are trolling thanks much from Ohio

      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  Před 5 lety +1

      +Fake News Gull Lake is almost 10,000 acres. I was trolling about two miles per hour. Thanks for watching!

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  Před 5 lety +1

      +BigSwede Fishing the bugs can be annoying but most of the bugs don’t bite. If the mosquitoes are bad, use a Thermacell.
