Jumbo Walleyes with Bottom Bouncers in South Dakota

- Classic summer walleye fishing program with bottom bouncers. Jason Mitchell joins guide Brad Jensen in the Glacial Lakes Region of South Dakota to catch several big walleyes. Filmed late June of 2020, this pattern produces fish for much of the summer.
These natural prairie lakes typically lack structure across the basin so many of the walleye concentrate along the shoreline contour. In this episode, we fished the outside weed edge with bottom bouncers and Butterfly Blades tipped with either a crawler, leech or Gulp! The hot pattern of the day ended up being a chartreuse Butterfly Blade and large leech fished in 15-17 feet of water at 1 to 1.5 miles per hour.
This region of north east South Dakota offers tremendous walleye fishing and these bottom bouncer and spinner presentations are simple, effective and easy.

Great day on the lake. How long of a leader are you running off your bottom bouncers?
Typically 3-5 feet. If I am running faster, will run longer and shorten up when running slower when fishing around weeds.
