  • Summer walleye fishing can be challenging. Sometimes covering water is the best option. Spinner rigs are an extremely effective way to cover a lot of water while using live bait. Throughout the summer months fish tend to roam large deep water structures and trolling crawler harnesses can be the best way to catch them. In this video Tom breaks down the details on a current bite in northern Wisconsin.
Spinner Rigs are a great tool for trolling or casting in a variety of situations. Learn how and where to fish a spinner rig and it will be one of your favorite ways to catch them too!

Heard you can use a Flat Fish Lure, cut the bottom treble off and add a slow death hook 3” back. The advantage is, you can troll 0.8 or even drift and the Flat Fish or Kwickfish by Jensen, still has action. I’ve made a few and will try soon. It’s simple and acts like a Texas Rig…kinda.

Tom, great shows. Was wondering if when you put your fingers inside the gill covers, doesn't it harm the fish? Will be there Aug. 1st. and hope to use some of ways you show. Keep up the good work. Thanks, Roy

Ok, silly question here only because I've never used planer boards before. If you want to run a crawler at say 18 feet on a 25 foot flat, you hook the line at the board at 18 feet ? And let the planer go back with the bottom bouncer weighting the rig at 18 feet?

Like your videos, how do you know how far down your spinner rigs are running? Is it because you pay attention to how much line is out and you touch bottom at the depth the walleyes are at.

hey TOM just curious have you noticed a big difference in the size of walleyes compared to the 80s.I live on the Canadian border with Michigan,I see your in the Ohio area so your fishing Lake erie correct, whereas Im fishing the ST Clair river and lower lake huron.Back in the 80s average walleye here was 4-6 lbs now theyre 2lbs.Have you seen that drastic of a dropoff.I know why Im just wondering if its affected as far away as you.Certain people here in Canada are gill netting top to bottom in the river where they spawn and theyre litterally killing off the entire walleye fisheries
