- hi everyone, today I was stripping an old Carrera fury bike when the fork steerer refused to budge, I thought as i've come across this issue a fair few times that I would show you how I get around the problem, as always its easy to achieve and no specialised tools required.

thanks for the tip i had this exact problem with an old rusted bike a friend gave me, thankfully it were not that much rust so I just sand the rust on the tube, lube it and push the top bearing cover with a flat screwdriver and a hammer and it come right away

I have been looking around and you have the best video yet! thanks !!! I have a Giant Rincon. and a few months ago I added a 100mm" I believe " extension. and the forks were trying to fall out? I think I may have tightened them a little much and been using it with a 1000w rear motor also. its my main transportation now till I can afford a new car. in a few years.

Can some show stuck up rais fork on a shock because mine was...stuck...
I didn't even have to use a grinder, just stabbed the inside of the top bearing a bit and beat the fork right out. Strange how such a small thing can make it as stuck as it was!
I have this exact same problem on a bmx bike that I just bought but I do it have an angle grinder.

thanks for sharing .I am wondering why the other spacer do not stuck but the one top of the cap bearing ?!
Just depends how the rust forms as to which spacers get stuck, sometimes there all stuck which is a pain

Can the bearings be removed ? Ive a carrera and the bearings are done i cant get them out any advice be great
Small flat head screw driver and a strong magnet. Compressed air may help if available.
IU am gonna use my Dremel and sand the tube all the way around before I do this cuz I do not have new headset bearings...YET...

by bearings where fine until i decided to service the crappy suntour xcm forks and guess what yeah the fork is seized like this video

Usually the headset is toast when it’s that seized.
