You a real one for going out In the snow and showing us how to do it 🔥🔥☝🏻🙌🏻🫵🏻🫡👍🏻
Awesome video. And in the snow as well. Thank you for the time you put into making it and sharing.
👍 I appreciate the positive comment thank you
Thank you was extremely helpful in leveling my truck
Thanks I never knew. I got an '04 Z71 Suburban 4x4. Turned mine all the way up and then backed off half a turn. Rides a lil more ridgid in the front but looks better! I'm a first timer thanks to your video!
I'm glad my video helped you out, just make sure you get an alignment now, thanks for the comment 👍
How much higher did you raise it?
just started watching, working in the snow awesome
Thanks we just finished all the front suspension bits, so on to the ride height adjustment.🙌🏻
You do realize that after you change the front ride height, you should get the front end alignment checked, because your camber angle has changed.
I recently got new torsion bars and shocks, took it to a shop and they leveled out my truck and gave it an alignment. The shocks settled and lowered the front end just slightly, if I adjusted it to be level again would I need my alignment checked again?
Yes
thanks buddy i got a 2002 chevy silverado 1500 and i was wondering how to lift it from the front great video helpful
Thanks for the comment 👍 I'm glad it helped you out
I love that he uses jack stands and he's working in the snow!
That shows he is smart! Unlike most people

Soooo....i came across this video BECAUSE i was looking to see WHY my truck didn't have any coil springs. & find out as i did some research that any marked as 4wd/4x4/off road vehicle will not have springs but have torsion bars. To my surprise, i didn't know what they were BUT i had seen them & never knew what they were (felt very dumb after that). So that's how i ran into this video. Liked 👍 the video by the way on how simple the adjustment was done. Had a truck before now than 10 yrs ago & was never too into customzing or upgrading my truck & now i got another one after looking for So many yrs. But now I'm interested in taking care of my truck pretty good & finding out new things that i should of known back then lol So now here comes some more dumb questions for my own education. Lol why is the adjustment done, what does it do? & how often are we to do that? This adjustment will only make the FRONT wheels adjustment? Or back also? Is this in place of putting LIFTS on the front suspension? My truck has a back lift of about 2in i believe (might be a 3in lift) so would i need to change the lifts from the back if the adjustment lefts it at the same level as back? Plz excuse my ignorance but i am interested in knowing about this torsion bar adjustment and more. Thank you in advance.
Nice explanation. I just had this performed at the local shop (added the alignment part) on a 2002 Tahoe Z71. The front end came up 2 inches, now only 1.5 cm lower than the rear. The goal with the level was to get the Tahoe ready as a lite overlander.
Great Video!! I'm sure I can do this on my own now. Thank you!
no problem, glad I could help out
Will try this, Thanks!
I did mine all the way, they were almost there anyway. My truck rides better now, next upgrade are rancho shocks with a 3 in front lift and 2 in...in the rear.
I'm giving you a thumb's up just for doing that barehanded and bareheaded in the snow.
I appreciate that. It was cold for sure but its a pain using gloves while working on the vehicles
Very helpful, thank you, i just bought a chevy 2002 and the front is way lower than the back, hopefully this solves the problem.
Sorry for the late reply, hopefully it helped you out man
Be careful don’t max em out you’ll need an alinement
Shocks help that too.
Let Us know if this help on your 2002, I have the same thing going on with my truck.
Keep up the good work
My 98 has the torsion bars cranked all the way, it’s got no suspension in the front so I gotta bring those down, thanks for the video man
No problem glad it helped you out. Thanks for viewing
Dave, same here! My truck I just bought, the trans axles are maxing out vibrating over highway bumps and I gotta bring her down... did you lower yours? Are you experiencing any inner tire wear from lowering?
thanks dawg so helpfull
I'm going to recommend that you use/rent a torsion bar adjustment tool to take the tension off the bolt first. It's safer that way and you're less likely to strip the threads.
or possibly break to bolt in place especially if its so corroded its integral strength is greatly depleted
@@MrAtrice if your smart enough you’ll soak the bolt completely with spray and let it set for a couple hours or a day if you have the time then do it. That’s what I did is much better on the bolt
@@MrAtrice hell my friend...heat is your friend...if it seems tight like its gonna break, stop and heat...keep trying and keep heating eventually it will start to turn smoothly then you know you used enough heat...hope that helps lol...that trick works for just about everything
In summary: 1. (deep creep)! soak it and come back later 2. Heat will set you free (don't set the penetrant on fire)
not needed. they were designed to be raised or lowered exactly like he did it. he does however need an alignment soon. but it's fine what he did. btw where's your video????
Thanks for posting this. My 2000 Chevy Astro AWD is sagging on the driver's side and I'm hoping this helps.
Definitely looks better right away I'm sure another turn would equal it out..
Good video bro!
Thinking of doing this for about 1/2" of lift and replacing my jounce bumpers to hopefully restore a bit of ride quality back into the front end. She's sagging a bit after 15 years hahaha..
Thanks bro. Do it up, it should definitely help out for sure
Mine is sagging 3 inches after 17 years
Thank you
You should measure the driver side too, make sure it's the same height on both sides. sometimes you have what they call the Chevy lean.
It's leaning because of the fuel tank I believe. That's what I found in a quick search... 👍
@@letgodbetrueandeverymanali3656 yeah but wouldn't the rear driver side be leaning too if that's the case.
@@craftman5632 Yes, depending on which side of the tank is overhanging more than half center of the vehicle, it might even be perfectly centered I'm not sure, haven't specifically looked for that but Sunday I'm changing out all my transmission Solenoids, located.under the trans pan, and I'm going to look while I'm under there. Or maybe someone here already knows? 👍
@@letgodbetrueandeverymanali3656 the gas tank is right behind the driver's side cab and just before the rear wheel. But anyway my truck has 130,000 miles on it, I'm going to replace my front shocks, and steering stabilizer, maybe my front shocks are bad that's why it's leaning, it'll be a few weeks before I get to that but I'll reply back if that was causing it to lean.
@@craftman5632 Thanks for the info Brother. Yeah, let me know if new shocks fix the issue.
Glad more of a question comment I have a 2001 and it rains to the right about 3/4 of an inch how do I fix that.
Hi I have an 03' gmc sierra extended cab, im planning to switch from 245/70r17 to 275/70r17 without any leveling kit or do I need to do this method to prevent from rubbing the tire to the truck? Any suggestion is highly appreciated.
Nice job bro
Will this make the truck run smoother I put new shock on I can feel every bump in the road
I was thinking you needed a breaker bar. But you got it done like a boss with a standard Ratchet. If I decide to do mine I’ll use a Ratchet. Probably wouldn’t notice it’s getting ready to break with a breaker bar.
Make sure it's off the ground first, that's why he didn't need a breaker bar for leverage. Too much torque if it's on the tires.
I did it with a 1 foot long rachit for 1 of my buddy's. It was all I hade every crank😂 I'm 125 lbs so I'm not really big😂
My torsion bar on my passenger side is causing my passenger wheel to suck in when it should stick out which is causing me not to get a proper alignment. ANY CLUE OR IDEAS ? That can help me
Love PB Blaster. Does undercoating help in your area with rust prevention? I live in GA so we really don't have that issue.
Yes pb is amazing. Yes undercoating is definitely needed in NH, they lay so much salt down on the roads in the winter it just eats the vehicles up fast.
I bought my 2000 Chevy Astro from Georgia and it has absolutely no rust. I'm up in Connecticut though and they use a brine solution that absolutely destroys truck undercarriages. Way worse than salt. I'm going to go through a lot of cans of rubber coating. I'm thinking about Flex Seal.
Cool thx brah!
Don’t forget to get an alignment afterwards! Or so I’ve heard, haven’t actually done this yet
Anytime you adjust the torsion bars you have to drive around the block and come back THEN measure. If you measure right off the jack the suspension isn't settled.
Cool Cat. Good video.
Awesome
can you make a video on how to adjust the height for rear wheels ?
Are my adjusting bolts be uneven? I just looked under my 01 and the driver side is Screwed in pass the crossmember and the passenger in sticking out the crossmember ?
Mine are the same ! But ima see what happneds if i level them god bless and be carefull
Badass I know my project
You need to back the truck up about 50 ft then pull back in to measure.
My truck has decent height stock from new shocks and front end suspension, if I raise my torsion bar do you think I’ll be able to fit some 315/75r16 (35’s) on her ? Thank you (99 Tahoe square body)
To be honest I'm not sure, it would definitely be a tight squeeze. I would recommend putting a lift in it. It also depends on the offset of you rims as well. You could look at some chevy forums on Google. Im sure there is someone that has tried this out there. Best of luck to you man👍
@@603Mechanicvids thanks man much appreciated,
So, will this work if I use a matco rachet instead of a snap on?
Yeah
A Pittsburgh Pro ratchet would be better, but Matco will do ok.
🇺🇲 He used jack stands so that tells me he's a smart guy, so I chose this video over dumbshits that crawl under a 5500lbs truck with just a floor jack. Thanks for the video man, it was fast, to the point and helpful 🇺🇲
You only need a floor jack really unless you have a gay truck it won’t crush you if it falls
I use jack stands, but I jack the truck up with a scissor jack out of a Mitsubishi galant 😎😎😎
Tell me why I leaned back when you start spraying the pb😂🤦🏻
Standing it on the frame rails takes almost no weight off the keys. What you need is a torsion key tool too actrually take the weight off. Jacking it up is badically the same as just leaving the tires on the ground.
Also if you tow you dont want the front raised any more then half of an inch or your braking and stability will be noticeably worse!
I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado that is lower on the passenger side what would that be ? It doesn’t have spring just shocks
sorry for the late reply but it could be a worn out shock or torsion bar
How do lift the rear I have 2002 Chevy Silverado 2wd it was sitting on 22" rims and was lowered 3" now have the stock rims and tires it is real bouncy I want to re lift it to stock height
You will have to replace the rear leaf springs with oem ones. That will fix the problem.
Did this adjustment change the camber to more positive camber ??
It did but very little
Nice 👍,, but can I lower the 2002 Chevy Tahoe the same way the rest end seats to higher ?
Yes
Thank u it worked mush appreciate it. Now I can’t take out sir from the rear air shocks ? Any idea how to deflate the rear air shocks i did disconnect the air hose from the shock ?
@@serjkeshish7 did it mess with the camber by lowering it? Are you getting inner tire wear on front tires now?
How high can they go?
Este bato no tiene frío , y aquí en Texas no aguantamos el frio.🥶
Does this wear out your torsion bars quicker?
No but depending on how much you adjust them it can put extra stress on your cv axles, id just do it to level the front with the rear. definitely will need an alignment as well hope this helps
What size tires are these? And what is the wheel brand and dimensions? I like it!!
tires are 265 75 r16 and they're the dirt commander Centennial MT, wheels are black rock series 929 black jack 16×8 i believe the offset is +13
@@603Mechanicvids thank you!
no problem
Typical measured fender to ground. So easy
Could I jack the one side of the truck up instead of putting the jack in the middle and just do it side by side?
so sorry for the late reply but yes you can do it that way
@@603Mechanicvids no it's okay I'm patient just wanting to know so I'm not messing anything up😂😂
good to make sure before u just go for it. just make sure you do the same amount of rotations with the bolts on both sides
@@603Mechanicvids oh right the dude I bought the truck from torqued the one side bolt for the torsion key and not the other so I have to count my turns on the one side to get it level to the other so I can go from there
So what’s the max you can adjust I’m assuming 3 inches
I believe its 2-3 inches but I'm not 100% sure. you would be better off buying some type of lift or leveling kit instead of maxing the stock torsion keys out. The stock suspension components and cv axles wouldn't like all that stress.
Does it still do good a year later
Yes its still good
Do you have to align the truck afterwards ?
Its recommended, anytime you adjust the height of a vehicle it changes your camber.
Nice video. What’s wheels do you have
Thank you, Black rock series 929 black jack wheels and tires are Centennial Dirt Commander M/T LT265/75R-16

Is it the same method for a 99 Chevy 2500 2wd?
if your truck has torsion bars then yes this method will work for you
weather is not a problem if there is a volition
what happens if i were to loosen the bolt instead of tightening it
it would lower the front

Do your turn left or right to make it higher ??
turn it clockwise to raise it
You went counter-clockwise in the video at the first adjustment on the passenger side?
What oíl used
What if you don't have torsion bars and you just have a rear wheel drive to 2 wheel drive truck with a 6-inch Lift how do you stop it from
Yes, have some
Make sure you dont raise it too much as the lower control arm will hit the rubber stop
U think I can fit 285 on it with cranking the torsion bars?
I believe they will fit
Look on some forums to see if anyone has had any luck doing this.
I run 285 on mine with no issues and never adjusted anything and it’s a 01
Got an 05 with 3" level kit motofab. Able to fit 33x12.5x20s with +12
What size tires and is that a factory lift? I know this is an old video, but I'm about to do my 2000 Silv. I tried the tiers and rims on, and had about an inch from the bumper to the front of the tire. "We'll see"! Thanks for the info
the tires are 265/75r16 and that is the oem suspension
Imagine recording in the snow lmao
What wheels and tires do you have?
wheels are steel Blackrock series 929 black jack and tires are Centennial Dirt Commander M/T LT265/75R-16 purchased from simple tire

damn, thats no good. id order a new bolt and get that in asap
how much did that snap on jacket cost you?
unfortunately you can't just buy them it was a thank you for making like 15 or 20 payments on time. not cheap for the money I spent on snapon tools haha

don't forget that you're changing the camber of your wheels, to much and you'll have very uneven tire wear.
Hey I had to crank mine down because I put shorter springs on the back of Tahoe . camber changed but on one side only why is that ?
are both sides adjusted the exact same? I'd go get an alignment done at a shop.
@@603Mechanicvids Ya ride heights the same on both sides. k thanks
Which way do you turn to lower ??
counter-clockwise
Wrong method. You need to unload the tension with a unloading tool or a 2 jaw puller. Using the bolt fucks it up.
Rough country leveling keys , are $79. Way better than turning up your bolts , that makes it ride like shit.
