In this video we test out two of the best jump cues on the market. Predators Air Rush and Cuetecs Propel.
We test how well they perform in the following categories;
Full length of table jump shots
Jumping balls at close distance
How well you can control the cue ball from a jump shot
The dart jump shot
Which jump cue feels the best in the hands
Is Cuetec’s Propel the best jump cue? Is the Predator Air Rush the best jump cue? Wait and see what Karl’s opinion is as he puts them to the test.
#airrush #propel #jumpcue #nineball #9ball #predator #cuetec - Zábava
The jumping section of my Knickerbockerglory cue (break/jump) is worldclass. A bit heavier than the average, purpleheart wood, it jumps effortless. It's a one of a kind custom cue.
Love to see a comparison with their break cues mate.
I would love to See a fast comparison with the Mezz air Drive 3 that will come out soon…
Great video pal, very good insight into both jump cues 👌🏼
Thanks 👍 Arthur
hey Karl, the same in Germany. In the 90s, everyone had a "jump-stick". Dart jump shots were totally up to date... Then it was banned. love WNT :-) every video is great, karl + jeremy = Best ever, ever ever ever
Highly recommend the ko jump tip. It's a less rounded tip and holds chalk much better than the taom 2.0
he didnt even address putting on chalk. if one tip holds chalk better. thanks letting us know
@PostUp_Time I've used both jump cues. The tips on each one are very slick and do not hold chalk well
Flatter tips jump better they say
thankfully Predator has this in a sport wrap variant, I have the Ghost propel and I love it
The Proppel from the Test is the first series, the new one has a white Tip and feels much better. The Quality is also much better
LMAO
I got the Propel, and after a week of testing and trying to out, i sold it.
Just didn't like it much. Love the Cynergy shaft.
I've tried the air rush and compared to my becue jump cue it's much thicker and heavier than the becue. The becue is super light and thin. I have never tried the Cuetec propel so I wonder how that would feel
Love the Air Rush. I actually don’t unscrew the joints because it feels too loose for me when jumping over handed when griping. The dart jump just feels really odd so definitely not for me. I do choke up with shorter jump shots.
I have the air rush with the sport grip and it does great for me. The butt ends are also interchangeable which gives you so many options (sometimes too many). The only thing I think it's missing is a finger groove for the dart jumps like the pechauer jump cue has.
Nice words David
Great video Karl I know it would be a tough one to do but maybe test out a few break tips?
I have a propel, love it!
I own these jump cues: Hanshew, Alex Brick, Ko brothers, Mezz. Have used Air rush and Propel. It’s 95% technique, he can jump like that with any jump cue.
40" minimum length for jump cue.
Depends on the event your playing in,
@@karlboyes7844Why do you think you’ve never seen anyone do that? Because it’s illegal. There a minimum length required.
Says who?
@@raskolnjikov1 Interpol
@@danielgajardomunoz8907 40” should be correct. I have seen a rule with 102cm for minimum length.
i would love to see a comparison of the combined break jump cue by predator. Seems a bit much to carry both.
9:02 LOL
From watching your shots with both both personally would say you suited the cuetech one as it just looked like you had to put more effort in with the other one
ive tried both cues, i like the cuetec one, i love predator but the cuetec just felt better
Per WPA rules: Cue Sticks used at WPA competitions should comply with the following during play at table: Length of Cue: 40 inches [1.016 m] minimum / No Maximum
Idk if this rule is applicable for Matchroom events too, but probably you cannot use Cuetec Propel jump cue as Karl suggests in the video (short handle + shaft). It would make it only 32.45 inches long.
WNT = no rules
Why not just use the shaft then? Or better yet, no cue just use your hand and drop the nine 🤷
@@uusinfiThe shaft alone doesn't have enough weight to jump and be accurate, hence the weight on the back.
There are rules about legal shots in WNT, just not cue length. Silly comparison.
i'm still using the old predator air 2 and really love the way it jumps but with the new air rush and propel i think it would be more effortless 😅
No it's not. Notice some still use air 2 like kazakis. I really think it's preference and air 2 has a very nice feel
Karl, you should put a chart with grading different aspects of the jump shot (long/short distance, draw, stop, feel, dart, etc) and grades (1-10). it'll give us a better sense of how much better one aspect is over the other.
Just wanted to give me reaction on both jump cues maybe one day we can think of a chart
My snooker cue mini butt fits into the shaft, it's ideal for playing pool in pubs with tight spots 😂
Jesus Atencio’s double bounce jump shot needs to be on the predator website
I have an old Predator break cue. A friend was a local cue maker and I just cut the handle and now it's a jump/break.
I'm sorry they lied to you
Seeing the dings on the Propel shaft made my decision much easier to make. 😉👍
that´s the first series, thenew one has a white Tip and feels much better
It would be great to add go custom into this comparison
How about comparing them to the Ko Brother's Jump cue?
I have the pechauer and its ridiculously easy to jump with it
Hey Karl , what about the new proto type jump cue that Fedor Gorst is using ?
Coming soon
Which one is best for a beginner? That cuetec propel looks nice, and the short config sounds useful
If you are a beginner do not buy either one. They are way too expensive. Get a cheap one for now, and learn how to jump. Then when you are really good at it, they will have come up with new jump cues new tips... and you won't waste money on it.
@@mattevans1643 Thanks for top tip
Cheaper hahaha
The new Mezz Airdrive G is worth having a look at pal. ;-)
I've used the Rush but not the Propel, for me the air rush with the extension is kinda too long but without it too short. Since the Propel has a short extension i think it'll do me just right. Probably going to get that one soon.
The air rush handles are interchangeable as well, I'm about to purchase the propel as I liked the Taom tip better than the stock phenolic tip on the air rush
@@ronsk8rr it is a great shaft especially price wise
But both handles on the air rush are the same lenght
@@3k2p6 I know but id prefer the rounded butt end if doing the dart style
I have the Air Rush and installed a Toam 2.0 tip on it. The Toam tip made a huge difference in the ease of jumping. I have had both of these jump cues now. Out of the box, the Propel really made jumping almost effortless. Now that the Air Rush has the Taom tip on it, it is on par with the Propel. Something has to be said about the Toam 2.0 tip. It is the best tip I have ever used for jumping. When it comes to jump cues, it's the only tip that I will recommend.
@@MapleStreetBilliards that taom tip is pretty good! I have one on my cheaper wood jump cue and still going for the propel as it seems to be a good length for me, but the air rush seems more adjustable weight wise so it's a tough decision
Love your content 😎
Is the propel configuration of the butt end and the shaft legal? Isn't it considered too short per bca rules?
WPA rules state the cue needs to be 40 inches or longer. I don't know about bca rules.
It's legal in WPA SVB uses it as do many other pros. BCA man who knows. I don't get why they don't use the same rules. APA i understand why, because it's supposed to be for Amateurs and jumping isn't everyones strong suit, we aren't Fedor Gorst. But then they have other dumb rules to.
Yep BCA says 40" minimum.
@@mattevans1643 Shane uses a 33 inch jump cue configuration?
BCA-CSI 40" min also.
Have you tried the GO customs jump cue? Amazing!
Not yet!
My cue repair technician, who is also dealer of cuetec, told me the Propel is not full carbon. I don’t own one, but it does feel a bit hollow compared to the Rush.
IF IT FEELS HOLLOW IT PROBABLY IS FULL CARBON. FULL CARBON DOES NOT MEAN SOLID CARBON LIKE SOLID WOOD. THE SHELLL IS CARBON AND FILLED WITH OTHER MATERIAL, LIKE THE SHAFTS ARE FILLED WITH OTHER MATERIAL AND/OR JUST FOAM
I have an old Cuetec two piece fiberglass jump cue with a metal ferrul and phenolic tip. It has the exact same "lacquer" finish as my Propel shaft. I"m wondering if its not carbon fiber. They have the exact same silver ring as well. The old fiberglass shaft is a smaller diameter at the base but same size at the tip. Its much heavier but it launches the cueball easily for long distance. Can't get the ball in the air quick enough for close jumps though.
@@shawjoe71 I've tested/owned a few jump sticks. It is my understanding that lighter shafts get the ball in the air quick in general. The Mezz AD II shaft on the other hand, weighs in about 6.2 oz. And it was a PITA to get the white ball up in the air soon enough. Long distance jumps not a big issue though.
According to WPA rules the short Propel cue without the middle bit is illegal, cues need to be at least 40 inches in length.
Save it for your pals house then 👊🏼👏🏼
I've used the Propel for quite a while, although it jumps really nice but I absolutely hate the finish on the shaft. It gets shiny and sticky really fast and if you accidently bump it on the edge of the table, you're gonna have a bad day.
Exactly, seems like they coated the shaft with a kind of glass like the Avid Series. Once it hits a hard surface, it cracks...
Interesting, I’ve been scrolling the comments on all the propel vids and this is the only comment to mention the shaft gets sticky. Maybe it was only on the first run and fixed in later batches?
You should compare with mezz air drive 2 also i think 😁
Have you used a Hanshew? How does it stack up?
Not yet 😔
I was considering a propel jump cue. But don't know if it is worth it.
Jumps lovely
Me like my Peri jump
Team Air Rush with sport grip for sure. No regrets there my friend.
You can try out the KO jump cue~
I will get one
Do you test the Go-Customs jump cue next?
Yes, I tried one Go Custom and it felt amazing!
Soooooon
I have the propel and I will literally take the little handle and stick it right onto the shaft all the time. It’s the best jump cue out there.
Smart man 👏🏼
Ko jump cue is where it's at
Hey Karl, a request. Would you mind not using ‘HDR’ video technology, the thing is videos with HDR quality go to full brightness be default and hence videos with these quality are viewable only if the ambience is brighter. It goes to 100% brightness by default. Thanks. Just a regular 1080p or 720p will suffice.
Looking into this buddy thanks
I use the Propel and also dart it with the butt on it. You can jump with the cb very close to the ball being jumped. Very close.
You figured it out before me 👏🏼
If you get caught in the states darting the jump cue they typically remove your thumbs the first time you get caught.
#leagueplayersonly
Is the propel shaft with only the small butt attached too short to be a legal cue?
In some tournaments would think so
I think regularely it has to be at least 40" or so to be legal. Maybe there are exceptions.
You seemingly didn't try the Predator with only the shaft and sport grip piece together (bringing the 1st and 3rd pieces together) which IMO is the best way to use it!
So which one would you buy Karl ?
(Rolling my eyes)
Ermmmmm
I have a very cheap jump cue and it jumps almost by gravity!!! Ali express rules ❤
Air rush! ❤
Ive tested both. Air rush definitely draws better sometimes to much. I prefer air rush. Cuetec feels just cheap junk.
You figuring out that you could use the smaller handle for the Propel jump cue is a great find. That's exactly what I've been looking for
My personal experience testing the predator , propel , and a hanshew at the same time.
The propel jumped the easiest , but it was harder to put spin on the ball, but man that thing popped so easily.
The hanshew and predator both jumped well and out spin on the ball, the predator felt the “sloppiest” as far as controling the cue ball went.
Of course I’m splitting hairs here they are all great jumpers. But the propel noticeably pops easier.
My order woud be.
Propel , hanshew , predator.
That said I bought a mezz air drive 3 and I’m waiting on it to arrive😂
Well seeing as everyone is stating what they use, here i go. Jacoby extreme jumper is by far the best jump cue
I tested the Jacoby extreme jumper and loved it. It hits very crisp, better feel than my Propel.
Love watching a video just to see that he never answers the question stated in the title lol. Let me save everyone some time, they’re both good and he doesn’t know which is better.
Thanks for the input lol 😂
I prefer the predator as I own a predator cue and I am very with my predator cue
Someone already mentioned it, but I'll add some words. The minimum pool cue length standard is 40 inches. A standard shaft is 29 inches. Your butt would need to be at least 11 inches to be a legal cue.
In tournament play yes
I have a propel. It’s nice to learn that I can join the butt directly with the shaft as I’m more of a dart jumper. Thank you for this video
If your playing events make sure to see your event rules some have restrictions on length and some don’t
@@karlboyes7844 thank you. I’m just playing local bca league and tournaments. Unless, I have a laser sight or a Mr Gadget device, I’ll be ok. 😉
On that note, jump shots in the middle of the table are tougher to bridge. I think a neat device would be a bracelet that had a hinged “Y” -flip it up for an extended bridge
Where's the JFlowers jump cue? ❤
Not used it yet
I think there still is the 40" minimum length rule. Thus you can't just use the shaft and back piece.
Depends on the event your playing
The last thing you want is to be called on a foul for that type of thing...in the end it's the shooters responsibility to know rule set
@@karlboyes7844
If they are performing the same, then pick the cheaper. Propel is the choice.
Karl staying politically correct... I bet my ass he telling avg pool player off camera which one he would choose if he had to.."Life or Death"
In correct I have no loyalty to any company 😁
All good brother and that's why we love you! Loving your content@@karlboyes7844
Cuetec for me 😂
why did he quit pool?
Fat and old
@@karlboyes7844 Don't sell yourself short, Karl. You're not old! Lol!
Is this video just a black screen but scrolling on the play bar shows it shouldn't be?
I sold my Propel and regretted it. This was before the Air Rush was released. Can't justify the price tag Predator asks. I think Predator over prices their products and I don't see a good price to quality value (this is only my opinion from owning and using Predator products in the past; your opinion may differ and that's okay).
It is illegal, minute 8.50. There is a minimum length requirement to have a legal playing/jumping cue.
Come on Karl get off the fence ! You must prefer one ?
Honest review
Not a case of keeping both camps happy? Free merch for giveaways 😉. Only pulling your leg mate. Tbh neither would do me any good, im useless at jumping. Im firmly in Earl's corner. Ban these lucky little cues 😂
BAN THE JUMP CUE!!
Learn to kick!
Kicking is an Artform!
Any NIT can jump!
Very informative video Karl. Great job!
Yes! Thank you! Jump is ok for tv viewers who have never watched pool
under 40 inches is an illegal cue
Correct
I never use jump cues I prefer my playing cue or kick shots or if I have to deliberately foul but making the rack very ugly and unrunable
As I'm first to comment, ill take any :)
Congrats 🙌🏽
Cuetec all carbon fiber including handle. Premium Taom tip. Cuetec actually makes their own gear. $459.
Predator uses poor quality wooden handles. Repainted air 2 butts. Basic amateur phenolic tip. Doesn’t make their own carbon fiber. Charges $600-$650 for a cue that doesn’t jump, feel, or perform as well all while using basic crappy and recycled materials.
Don’t even get me started on the breach with their blemished shafts and blemished samsara tips….
It’s no comparison to be honest.
$200 more for recycled firewood that doesn’t perform nearly as well as all carbon fiber and has blemished, sub-par materials. No thanks.
It really hurt your credibility in my eyes if the minimum 40 inch lenght is true and you didn't realize it before thinking that you found a genius way to use it. Sad to see a "professional" overlook this. I wish you the best but I will now find my infos elsewhere.
A lot of events worldwide have different rules, some have that in place some don’t, so il stand by my genius way to use it thanks
@@karlboyes7844😂😂😂
If you had mentioned the fact that it might not be legit in some event you would have lost credibility in my opinion but I'm not here to troll just sharing my opinion of the content you posted. Have a nice day and good luck with the futur, I just wont be one of your viewers. Kudos for replying to people you gain points your involvement ;)
best one is no jump cue like Efren Reyes... learn your rails and lines before using these cheat sticks.
AMEN!!
Sorry, both are not the best.
Jumping is probably the gayest thing ever introduced
Come on... which one you like the best
